Still isn't the most valuable. The Mercedes W196 sold for almost $9 million more than the most valuable GTO. And VW has a 1904 Rolls Royce insured for 50million euros in their museum in Germany.
The best designed car ever. I rather have this car than any of today's modern sports car. I think it is one of the most expensive cars to own I guess the going rate is 15,000,000 to 20,000,000. These cars rarely come up for sale and if they do most are sold to private collectors.
The more car design utilises aerodynamics the less beautiful they become. Having said that the first 250 GTO mule was without its duck tail rear spoiler so maybe I have just dissolved my argument. What ever the 250 series is the real Ferrari!
Here's why some of you don't understand the insane amount of money some collectors are willing to pay for this vehicle......you're seeing it as a "car". It's not just a "car", it's a rolling work of art and a museum altogether. There will never again be built a drive-train equivalent to the likes of the racing Ferrari 250s. The 6 carburetors with their chrome up-pipes, the landmark scintillatingly sexy coachwork, the ferocious, unrestrained cry of what will ALWAYS be the quintessential V-12.....
@tanksrawsome59 A fair question, as these were race cars and all hand built, I would assume each exhaust was crafted for the car that wears it. There were only 36 or 37 of the 250 GTOs built, no 2 were exactly alike.
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Sports Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Mercedes vintage owners in Germany do so :)
@thevealchop68 The racing 250s (the GTOs and the testarossas among them), used 6 twin barrel carburettors....each barrel had its own up pipe, hence that beautiful arrangement of 12 up pipes.
@thevealchop68 Look for the video on the right (it wont let me post the link) called "Ferrari 250 GTO" by the user "itrmotorracing" and you will see the carbs being tuned. Note when the tech manipulates the throttle, you can see the bar connecting all the carbs moving.

@Lillie1986 it looks too newly restored to be a gto, youd think a real gto would have a more sympathetic restoration, but its a good recreation based on a ferrari 250 road car if its not the real deal
first version of 1962 in just 39 examples built and designed by Giotto Bizzarrini. Based on the previous 250 SWB and featuring the glorious 3-liter V12 with 300 hp common Testa Rossa (3 copies, but up came the 4 liters), the GTO was able to tap, at this time, 300km / h, thanks to ' advanced aerodynamics. The body was designed by Scaglietti.
Assuming I could afford it, I'd buy a new Corvette ZR1 that was faster for about 110,000 grand and save the 24,889,000.00 that I had left over. . I could buy lots of gasoline for $24,889,000,00 and own a modern, up-to-date automobile at the same time. Someone else could own a complicated Italian car that was 48 years old.
@SpeedyNeutrino43 Its not like anyone buy these cars because theyre fast... They are historical pieces of art. Sort of like the mona lisa, and that doesnt move at all.
@SpeedyNeutrino43 lol what are you talking about? people who buy these cars they dont drive it every day. they have it in the garage while the price encreases. they have like 60 other cars they can drive.

And the people who will get your liver might do something useless with it, like make a hat out of it. Would you be alright with that?
@valereydyachuk Ofcorse not it was just my way of saying i really like the car.
