If you have really long hair you could take a piece from the side or underneath, braid it, and wrap it across the top and pin it, like a headband. It would make that last look extra fancy.

@oliviabrookeful My mom says that it doesn't make her hair crunch up as much as other products do, but definitely don't use too much. She also uses the L'Oreal Studio Line Curl Power. Some other cheaper hair product brands use a lot more alcohol, which is what really dries out your hair ..
@luvdanceQT um, yes they do own curling irons and using a diffuser makes your curls neater, my mother is a former hair dresser by the way. There's a cool and low setting on the blow dryer which is especially meant for people to use with a diffuser to set curls. You can google that if you'd like.

That was great! It's really hard to find hairdo's for naturally curly hair... I have to use my imagination and adapt when I see styles with curling irons... but it never works the same. Your mom's concern about not "disturbing the curls" is what makes the difference from the curling iron styles. When your hair has natural curls you have to follow the "natural form" more, making more difficult to shape it. But it's easier to get volume and texture!!!

@lovemeorshotme my hair is very thick naturally so i've never needed to try extensions :p. I usually get it cut 2-3 times a year. Typically you're suppose to trim your hair around 3-4 times a year just to take off split ends. Trimming your hair won't exactly make it grow faster, but leaving split ends in your hair for a long time will actually shorten your hair more than trimming. That being said, it's best not to apply heat on ur hair all together to avoid split ends, and...
@lovemeorshotme use hair treatments after each time you wash your hair (leave in conditioners). if ur hair isn't oily or smelly, then u don't need to wash it everyday - washing it often stripes away the oils that hydrate ur hair. I actually straighten my hair often in the winter, but in the summer I just use hot rollers or leave it natural. In a way I can only tell u what works for me, but I've had hair this long since I was a child. OH and I've never died my hair, hair dye will set u back!!!

I don't know if it was due to the quality of hair dye or whatever, but it really ruined her curls. Why is that? What if I just high light my hair.
