I assume having 2 Gb of ram, a larger and newer HDD and 64Mb GFX would help, it did for me.

man... I tried AIDA diagnostic soft, and there is max share 64 MB graphics. Win. Ultimate is going, its not problem with that.. only its good to switch off some effects.. and at least 2 g ram..

Yes, win 7 is going on your pc like a shit.. in video u r telling about 512 ram, here its wrote 1 giga.. so, where is the true? this model is too old, graphic internal 64 Mb, little capacity of disk, still little ram.. I prefer the max, what u can put on, so. 2 Giga, higher cap. of disk, and dont have a lot of unnecessary soft inside. U can still switch on XP mode, switch off effects {aero, and so one.] then u will see different.. and by the way.. some antivir softs are making slow speed

Reason why its slow.

1. Not enough RAM. 512 is the bare minimum to run Windows 7

2. You have AVG and yes its a resource hog. Try Avast!

Overall, the performance is great. When I had Windows 7 running on my Compaq, it was really fast, as if it was Windows XP. But when It had Vista, it was runs like shit.

@TheCanadianToast It is a version of Windows that I downoaded off Pirate bay. lol. I accedently downloaded some Windows Updates and it picked up that is was not genuine

@IBMThinkPadR51 too bad ;) I used a non-activated version w/o serial. I downloaded the latest Windows 7 loader, which is software that contains all w7 serial keys. it activated it for me, and its validated as genuine.
