Everything about this series just screams the word 'Perfection', the cast, acting, emotions, drama, those funny moments where you can't yourself cracking a smile especially at the end of most of the episodes. I think if this series continue we will be soon having another set of footsteps on Hollywood walk of fame.
I must be a really, really sick person. Because once I saw Simon's face, I fought off the urge to laugh....I just....I hate myself sometimes. I think the reason I wanted to laugh was because I've become so immune to tears and just general emotional reactions that it all just seems comical
...that and the fact that he seems like such a happy person in real life. I can't imagine him crying. Ever.
This is a perfect illustration of human fragility. We have all felt loss and the empathy which some possess is of higher function than others. Personally, having experienced a great deal of loss, I know EXACTLY how he felt. Whether he acted or actually recalled his own pain, it's a feeling highly unlikely to have been faked. He's a fantastic actor but deep down inside, we are all capable of feeling tremendious pain. Thank you for posting this.
@russkyspade I know how he felt, too. I've lost some dear loved ones recently, but they weren't murdered. As powerful as my grief is, I can't imagine how hard it would be if I lost some in a homicide and that person was never caught. Simon portrays it very well. Very gifted actor.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Grace is the sweetest. I feel sorry for actors when they have to do crying scenes. Imagine what they think of to make themeselves cry. And Simon has a family so he probably thought about something sad relating to them.
Argg, this scene really ruined the series for me. It really seemed like a show that embraced reality. Then suddenly, he lets some fraud lie to him for comfort. I cannot imagine a more loathsome profession.
@NoAntecessor His daughter was murdered. If you lost your child, wouldn't even the tiniest sliver of hope that they didn't die scared and in pain, comfort you? And wouldn't you cling to it, in the desperate hope that it's true? Fraud? Sure, why not. But you can't blame the guy for crying.
@werebunny131, I'm not blaming him. What I'm hating is that the show allows her to get away with misleading him. I blame the woman telling the vulnerable person lies, and I was annoyed because the show didn't condemn her action. Still, I did exaggerate a bit. I still enjoy the show.
@NoAntecessor it has nothing to do with if he believes her or not, the conversation its too strong to handle, you need to realize that thats the question he has in mind every night when he goes to sleep it has lots of weight in itself, can you get that? its really sad, imagined the kind of thoughts that were flooding his mind in that second.
@aLostDay Kristina is Walter Mashburn´s third wife, I guess - it has slipped from his mouth when they were at the dinner in the 13th episode, 2nd series. He told her everything after he came back from the kill, I guess. So she made out she has talked to Jane´s wife and all of this to calm Jane down and release him from his sorrow, because she fell in love with him. I bet it was because she thought of Jane that he is like Walter, whom she loved dearly. But they could be still in contact.
@Calucifer13 Sorry I do not remember who Walter Mashburn is. Could you help me, please. But thanks for the information, it helped me very much. But because of Patricks daughter: I just think she was 5 or 6, wasn't she? My god she was a cute girl :)
What a powerful moment!! You can't help but feel his pain. Simon Baker's portrayl of a tormented Patrick Jane in "The Mentalist" is extraordinary! He gets me every time!!

Jane, how I see it, is sorta like peanut butter and jelly inside toast. tough on the outside, but soft on the inside. Yes courtesy of Little Fockers

This always makes me cry without fail. God, Simon Baker is so talented! And bless Van Pelt for shutting the door. She's sweet.
But I fully hate Kristina Frye. Seriously. Just the sight of her face makes me want to kick something.
