  • Celtic blood of the ancients projected to the year 3000.

A vibe of heart and intelligence.

One of the few guitarists capable of delivering pure emotion on DADGAD (mastering it), in a time of often boring random tappers.

  • a brilliant piece of work here by John. Fascinating stuff.

  • as ever john's mesmerising touch and deftness make it look so fluid but simple it is not!! How one creates an arrangement like this is mind boggling. I am speaking as someone who has written tunes and songs but how does one achieve beauty and subtlety like this? JR is a maestro. I must get my name down on his Andalucia guitar workshop . . . and get closer to the magic

  • I can sort of play like this...to sing as well would tax me dearly....being a non-singer, I sometimes wonder why words mess up good guitarring. It's always something about a lost love or an escaped favourite sheep. Both if it was a Welsh tune I suppose.I play mostly in DADF#AD,tuned down a semi with the capo on the 2nd fret to get up to concert pitch....leaves the strings slack enough for my wussy fingers to bend and slur the notes a tad without bloodshed.Just a hint...try it

  • Brilliant guitarist! I arranged a guitar workshop with him in Stockport. He was great...more so because he didn't sing ha ha! Really nice guy and played some amazing tunes.

  • He is amazing, such little effort yet he produces a picture of the trail down the western isles that is as vivid as being there... even with his poor singing lol. still great though!

  • The master of the acoustic guitar.

  • In 1967 a friend loaned me 'Another Monday' by JR when I was only into rock and Tamla Motown. It was my introduction to acoustic guitar and I have been hooked ever since. This reminds me of that first encounter - mesmerising - made the hairs on my neck lift.

  • Learning the tune is one thing. Getting your fingers to dance on the strings like him is quite another.Breathtaking fluidity

  • Vibrations of this song touch the shadow of the Absolute!

  • All through my thoughts were of the graceful ease of his hands, his rich calm vocals, and the peaceful mood that left me with the realization of WOW!!

  • This man is absolutely breathtaking. What beautiful music!

  • Renbourne' music always worked for me since I was a lad. I'd like to ask him, did he know Davy Graham personally? One of his (John's) Early albums graciously mentioned Davy as I recall.

  • @petersuki . There's local music club where I live and both Davy Graham and John Renbourn have played there in the same year. I'm sure they do know each other.

  • the best

  • Quite a spell this master weaves.

  • nice1 John

  • its awesome! but he doesn't reaaally teach it lol :p

  • See part 2

  • I love this track; Renbourn is a legend!

  • wow.

  • Have made that journey.

  • Ok so is the beginning part not technically part of the song? Because I can't find a tab of that section (and it's my favorite part!)

  • singing and playing it at the same time boggles my mind

  • Wow. Hypnotic stuff.

  • this guy is my hero he inspired me to go acoustic many moons ago

  • There are songs you here that take your breathe away, this song is one of them.

  • Wonderful. Thats one of my favourites. I've never used DADGAD but I might give it a go now.

  • You still see the love he for these songs..!!!

  • tx for this post.. I love this song..!!

John does have a bit of an medieval look to him I must say..
