  • I love this guy xD .. "he couldn't have been the only British chief to realize on which side of his bread was buttered"

  • OHH here the old man talk about the legendary history of brittan!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 2 Romans saw this video

  • A women scorned eh. Women always claim that if they ran things there would be no war...Till one of their friends fucks their BF or talks behind their back then its game on bitches. Anyone who thinks Women are the fairer sex should research Margret Thatcher..

  • "Civilization" and barbarism frequently are bedfellows. The most "civilized" nations and peoples have committed atrocities, rapes, murders, vandalism and wanton destruction. It is the native state of us,the human animal.

  • So this guy says that the weather defeated Julius Caesar. Not quite true. Settlers there also fought against the Romans. In the first fight, Julius Caesar's sword - Mors Crocca, or Red Death - was taken by Britons after being lodged in a Briton's helmet, and its image is displayed on the official flag of London.

  • The British Queen of Brittania is the most civilised Person in the known Universe; Bow craven before Her majesty and be humbled.

  • @jrjupton Learn to spell.

  • @jrjupton Idiotic sycophant.

  • Brits talk like such fags lol...

America has kicked your ass and saved it so many times...your are our geopolitical bitches limeys! USA!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Rentaghost76 Every time a tit like you says such a thing Britain moves one step away from America. Perhaps a future PM will read your comment. Oh I do hope so! And then you will be completely alone in the world with no allies what so ever.

YIPPEE HURRAY WHIPPY YAY You fucking yanky doodle ding dong gay!

  • @STOPTHEEU he can say whatever, but all things considered, he makes such comments in a thread tacked onto a video dealing with the history of Britain. personally, i feel this fact speaks louder than any comment he can make.

but still, you need to cut it with that yankee doodle nonsense. we Americans can only wonder what that all is supposed to mean. is it even part of the English language?

  • Julius caesar thought all he had to do was show up with all his legions and the Britons would simply queue up to surrender...

Sounds like the Americans going into Iraq.

  • @Diosibundo

And notice how the British and the Iraqis both got their proverbial salads tossed.

  • @hitchman84

    Ahahhahahhaha!!!

  • thats revenge

  • her revenge was swift and just

  • It always disgusts me how men since the beginning of time have deemed it ok to show they are strong and prove they are man by raping and demeaning women. They are always brutal savages no matter the year. Men still always associate war and stealing right along with rape. What is with that? How is it ok to have that kind of testosterone ???? The evil things they have always done to women is outrageous!!! Even in today's war torn countries, they kill the men but save the women for nasty rape

  • @LoveMokes I agree whole heartedly, I have always asked this question also. I have heard stupid people say that this race of people do this or that but it is not attributed to a race of people but to men. And it does not have to be in a war torn country it also happens in countries not effected by war. I'm reminded of a home invasion in my country where two men broke in a home and beat up the dad, robbed the home and raped the wife and two daughters. Why do men think this is ok?

  • @lesababy i'm a man and i dont think raping women is ok.

lol im sorry but this is just retarded. They raped women because sex feels good. Men went to war, to pillage and steal, etc.. usually brute pls ince you need strong people. leaving aside hollywood films, i doubt these brutes were polite intellectuals that after massacring the ppl would think about the ladies. they dindt kill em 'cause they could still be of use, and kept men and children for slavery.

If women went at war who knows

  • The English are a product of many different invasions. The Germanic tribes played a great role in contributing, but the Normans (whose original elite were germanic) invaded and transformed thier german oriented culture towards the french & the romance culture, transforming them into something in between. besides german, there is also the older celtic influence. but if english can be called a germanic language then the english r germanic in culture but with great norman french influence.

  • @Salvus967 - correct but its far more complicated than that - theoretically on a very basic level romano british would be Welsh and perhaps Cornish now, everyone else dependant on dna and location could be original british (skara brae type) anglo saxon, celtic or a mix but it is the least unlikely that people are norman. It os only those of the upper class are Norman blooded.

  • The original Race of Romans is long gone...

  • I thought they just ended up as Italians!

  • who???

  • Crap. That was a while ago LOL. I was prolly talking about the Romans...

  • @D3adGoon

Romans were an ancient people whom no one is sure where they came from (not necessarily the peninsula). The peninsula has been invaded by lots of other peoples since those times. The people who live there now are not all necessarily descendants of the Romans.

  • @hhhiitt good point. Not sure what I was thinking at the time. Surely though most of them were classified as "Italic"? Similar to how you group Germanics?

  • @hhhiitt Do you know! the Romans (although this was mainly imperialism propaganda) believed they were decendants of Trojan refugees..

  • @Findiglay I'm not 100% but at least I don't base my ideas on myths, legends, hearsay or propaganda. The current theory is that Romans descended from Latini and Estruscans (the original inhabitants). Latini were a sub-race of the white, Nordic race that originated in modern Ukraine 8,000(?) BP. Celts, Saxons, Scands, Franks, Slavs all descend from this Nordic race, replacing the Older Europeans (modern humans) who came from 40,000 years ago.

  • All right, but apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?

  • peace?

  • @GR8M8108 Peace?

  • @GR8M8108 they made our ancestors as weak and fragile as possible, and made way for the Saxon Invaders when they left, that's what they bleedin' did

  • @GR8M8108 you obviously don't read the daily mail.

  • @GR8M8108 Brought peace?

  • Schama should get it right - there was no region of East Anglia at this time. There was no England. He should say - 'from the region that was to become East Anglia' or something of that sort.

  • I've always detested the goddamn Romans. Nothing of flesh and blood that ever sprang forth from that bunch is anything but vermin in my eyes.

  • yeah, i guess the rule of law, the notion of citizenship, urban civilization, urban planning and the novel concept of providing fresh water to cities may seem like 'vermin' to the likes of you.

  • And I guess they could not have kept their notions of the 'rule of law' contained within their already defined space. Instead they just had to give their lovely ideals to others around them. Here's to the barbarians who killed as many of those cuckolded Roman pansies as they could put their axes to.

  • although I believe that the Romans gave us much, I agree. Here's to the so-called barbarians who axed as many of them as they could.

  • the rule of law (I know your comment is a few months old) started around persia centuries before rome even began the center

  • actually governance by a coded system of laws is much older and began with the chinese.

however, it is the common law system which the britons brought into a systemized scheme which entailed the rule of precedence that codified the law and made it universally applicable to everyone else.

the persians and the chinese held that the law was to be a strict restraint upon the people to keep them subservient to the central government, hence a facist system much like roman law.

  • the chinese invented everything. well most things that make our life today as it is. yet everybody talks of the western civilization as superior. the Romans really did write history, even when they finaly became the losers

  • of course, if you ask the chinese they will say that their civilization is the greatest because they claim to have invented everything including FOOD!!

actually, mankind writes history and it is subject to the biases and viewpoints that are in vogue at any one time in history. the point is that every civilization thinks that it is superior, it is all a part of the human condition.

  • There had been coded systems of law in Babylon prior to that. Greek city states had also made coded systems of laws. The idea of an orthagonla design for a city began in Greece. Indoor plumbing occurred in Rome. The difference w/Rome vs. Rome and China, is that Rome sought to establish a Republic, but couldn't do so on a massive scale, so it reverted to an empire as China and Persia did. The idea of having a Republic on a mass scale didn't really occur until 1776 w/ the American colonies.

  • actually rome did have a massive republic in the latter half of the 1st century bce but the fundamental problem of who controls the executive ( real power ) resulted in a number of successive competitions among a series of senators, consuls and opportunists. not to mention the innate nature of mankind notably ambition, greed and lust which are all a part of the human condition. intially rome was a kingdom but early romans got rid of the sole leader idea in exchange for a dual executive.

  • Thats correct, "law" in persia and china meant little more than the will of the supreme ruler, who derived their sovereignty from a deity. In that sense, it wasn't "law" at all, not in any truly meaningful sense. As you say, the whole point of the common law system is that it is codified and consistent, transcending the arbitrary whims of any individual leader.

  • exactly! you write very well and have a keen mind and intellect. much to the chagrin of many monarchs of the british civilization the common law became a nightmare and a headache especially to those who opted for arbitrary rule or whim of the monarchy.

  • The channel...it stopped the Romans, the French, the Germans and i've heard it almost stopped the Spainish.

  • Well, it stopped the Romans once. They came back later under Vespasian. It didn't stop the Celts, or the Vikings, or the Normans either. Natural borders are grand, but it takes a brave and intelligent populace to man and take advantage of them for natural borders to be effective.
