It's a cold, windy, and the sky is grey as a grey wolf. Whenever I remember something, tears would come out of my eyes. Forever I walk on into the field, hoping for a better life.

this is probably one of the best horror films ever created, and this is the most haunting sountrack of all time. you don't need random choppy violin music, this music scares me to bits. The movie is seriously underrated and so is the second one.

La seconde partie est pas mal, néanmoins, c'est de la peur plutôt "facile". Disons qu'il y a beaucoup de gore, de cris, de sang, etc... C'est pourquoi la première moitié du film m'a beaucoup fait pensé à Alien, ou bien au jeux vidéo "Allan Wake", de part l'ambiance ( rien à voir avec le scénario )... Sinon, great movie ! A voir dans le noir, un soir d'hiver !

I love how epic this song is. It can fit into any war film and strikes great effect. Music with such scale and melanchoy is rarely seen in modern horror films, which makes The Descent a truly brilliant flick.

btw as far as the second part goes- you should all be thankful for the way it came out cuz it had the potential to be 1000 times worse than it was. @ least they kept all the same actors, staff and soundtrack. Yeh so the new characters were a little stale and a couple were badly acted, but considering the horrible track record of horror sequels it was a decent effort and they really tried to keep it true to the original.

@robochibi Totally, the hate for the sequel is unwarranted. Was it as great as the first movie? Of course not and I doubt anyone thought it would be. But as far as sequels go it may be the best horror movie sequel ever made. It kept the ambiance of the original, had some BRILLIANT camera work in the first act, and didn't butcher the suspense like most sequels do trying to turn it into an action flick. It was very much the child of the first movie.

@Goldenkitten1 I totally agree. The sequel has a pathetic story, but as you said it retains the atmosphere and claustrophobia of the first film, which many, if not all sequels don't. It is still a terrifying film and the one redeeming factor story-wise is the ending with Sarah and Juno that plays with your emotions like the original did. It's very rare to find a horror film that can really move you and it was a great way to wrap up the story.

the 2nd one was good too...at the end of the first movie,she doesnt escape...they show her in the cave,and thats how it ends...so maybe she found a way out.Also you have to remeber that they entered thru another side of the cave so maybe the creatures where babies and stuff cause at the end you see the big monster.ppl you need to get into the movie not just see it...u need to see thru the eyes of the director

second part sucked cuz the old dude died the way he did- eaten alive while getting his arm hacked off by that bitch who didnt deserve his help. He was the coolest character and the only one smart enough to bring a weapon. Yeh, so he fired it off at the wrong time and collapsed the cave but if that slimy motherfucker tried to eat you you would do the same thing. Cant blame him for executing a purely human reaction. sry but that killed it and that black chick couldnt act for shit.

(IMHO). It was still very good in continuing the story and much better than any of the Freddy or Jason style

movies that are coming of the US. It had weak sections (the ending) but no movie is perfect.
