One problem that I have had with online dating is meeting people in person. I'll talk to a guy on the phone for a while, but when it comes time to meet he'll some up with some lame excuse. This has happened about 3 times. I have a whole video on my page about it. That's why I don't want to talk to anyone longer than a week w/o meeting.

For men online dating is very different, you can't be as picky because women on average get 10 times more messages than men and even if they like you the usually won't message you first. I think the best thing for a guy is to remember this, don't take it personally because the women are in a much stronger postion to negotiate!

I had a lot of fun on Match while living in Detroit. I never had a relationship out of it but I met some really nice guys and had some great experiences. Like you said, sometimes you just have more of a friend vibe. (Actually, I did have one very *brief* relationship with someone.) I would definitely do it again. I joined Match when I moved to Charlotte and didn't have the same great experiences. I'm currently on okcupid but I'm not very active on it. I may get more active now though!

I date on line haven't done in a longtime but you gave some great pionts thank you for that! People like to judge people because they chose to date online why they worry about what people do. Yes you have to be careful but whoes to say the person you meet at the club or bookstore is even better just got to pray and be careful.

@FlorDeLor I've may tons of nice guys! A couple I dated, and some I kept as friends (especially 2 comes to mind). I think what makes online dating run smoothly is having both people being very mature...knowing when it's just a friendship, more or nothing at all. But yes, I have met truly nice guys on there...and some jerks too lol

@FLAREflare14 you're friends are right. A lot of the times a female (especially a young one) will wait for the guy to make the first move. She may think you don't want to hold her hand, so she won't make the first move. Just grab hers. She'll probably think it's sweet!

I didn't appreciate the fact that some guy sent a form letter to me and probably 20 other women. If he can't write a personal email to someone he might be interested in than he is just plain lazy. I said no thanks to the form letter guy.

I rather meet a woman at a movie because it is a place where there are crowds therefore she will feel more comfortable with me.

I also don't like trying to be real talkitive because women feel awkward in quiet moments and are overly critical on first dates whenever you judge a guys intire personallity by one awkward moment without giving the guy or yourselves a realistic chance at actually getting to know each other.

Another thing to watch out for is when you recieve a message from someone who hasn't even viewed your profile or messages from Africa (particularly Ghana), chances are it's a scammer. Do what I do. Tell them that you are sending your home phone number to them, and instead give them the local number to the FBI.  That ought to bring their brains to a screeching halt!

@lilyrose4038 I'm not an expert, but the simpilest way to tell, in my opinion, is that he makes an effort. He makes an effort to call and talk, he makes an effort to get to know more about you, and he makes an effort to spend time on you. If he is pursuing you, he is interested. If you feel you are doing all the work and trying to pull things out of him then he's probably not that into you. There are special cases, such as if a guy is shy, but at some point he should pursue you.

lol i agree with every thing you said! I'm an online dater and i stick to all those rules you mentioned. It really does filter out the timewasters. I agree with you about guys lying about things ie height but they can also lie about other things like age. I've met some who have even posted fake pics! lol So FB is a good way to double check.

I see you mentioned "plenty of fish" i had a profile on there too. I aim for free sites like oasis, smooch or matchdoctor. You should give em a go as well. lol Also another thing i learnt is that - meet a guy ASAP - coz talking via msn/phone is diff to actually meeting up. I have found there is no chemistry with some - so all those hopes/expections you have are just flushed away :(

yeah that does sound fishy...but if she is in your area you 2 can meet in public. If you choose to do that make sure it is something that can be short, like coffee or something. situations like that are hard because she could be telling the truth and is just having technical bad luck...or she could be lying. I met someone who was having a ton of technical issues and he turned out to be a good guy and was telling the truth.

I have to take a break once cause I wasn't meeting anyone good. But after the break you get a fresh start. Hopefully some of my tips can help you weed those clingy men out...They are the ones that ask for your number too early, want to meet to soon, or are saying early on that he may have met "the one."
