I'm not too sure myself, but from the way they originally discovered this Marker in the DVD Deadfall, it seems like this one is the 'fake Marker.' I've seen the comics, the dvd and I've beaten the game and there are still some things I have yet to put together.

OH, MY. It's hilarious how awful the voice-overs are. Also, are those bat things from the game the only means for them to infect bodies? In the game, when the bat things infect a body, it turns black, but theres also ones that aren't black. Anyone got an explanation?

the bat things are mutated people used to speed up the infection, the initial necros are created by people coming into contact with that goo that was in the vents, they then go insane and kill themselves or someone else, the virus inside them activates and mutates them.

It is a disease that infects dead bodies. Once inside, it mutates the body's DNA, morphing it into the creatures you see. The ones that fly transmit the disease to other bodies to reproduce. The disease uses the bodies to kill and then digest it's prey in order to sustain itself. Atleast this is what I think is going on. I'm still confused about how the Marker warps everyones' minds. Anyone else have an idea about that?

I think the bacteria causes dementia in living subjects; if you've watched all the comics, note that the only people who got infected were the miners who uncovered the Marker and then most of the Unitologists who went to 'worship it', plus that chick who was guarding it.

Then, when they've all committed suicide, they virus causes them to mutate.

More gore, though, that's the difference. Call me shallow, but it works - and there's a bigger psychological impact. With the flood, you more or less knew what was going on, whereas with this lot you have absolutely no idea how or why this is all happening.

Condemnedya These Dead Space animated comics were done by Ben Templesmith and Antony Johnston who signed on with the department in EA working on the Dead Space game. So if anything these are courtesy of all 3 parties.I guess technically EA got it from Ben Templesmith and Antony Johnston, however the whole idea was originally EA's if I recall correctly. My best bet is that the comics done by the 2 artists were made into these vids inside EA. So that should answer your where and how.
