  • Heavenly - if there is a Heaven this is what I want to hear.

  • The thing I love about Mike Oldfield is the feel he has for all peoples of The British Isles and Ireland. Ommadawn is an example of this.

  • I was there. It was a great concert in a very cold September night. We had a great time

  • That guitarist has my respect, keeping the repeditive riff going right through this track, he did a great job.

  • agree about the olympics - it should be performed suring the opening ceremony as an example of uniquely British music

  • My Mike Oldfield eargasm continues.......

  • deff some of the best music ever produced and performed ..anyone who hates it ,deff has no taste in fine talented music ..prob a pop fan ..

  • Used to listen to this for hours!! Better than this x factor shite!!

  • this man is taking us to space on virgin galactic thanks mike

  • Oldfield is a GOD!!!

  • COMO TACAAAAAAAAAA!!!LE QQUEDO VIRULANA?????O SE QUEMO LOS DEDOS???SON TODOS DE DERECHA!

  • Wow that's pretty awesome he pulled this off live.

  • Digital Sound Processor : Arpeggio HAHAHAHA.. Incredible... No words that can explain this music!

  • 12 monkeys has no ear

  • "Glockenspiel"...:-D!

  • AWESOME!

  • Incredible. The few people who don't like this either had the sound turned down or are missing out due to their lack of basic music appreciation.

May I suggest some auto tuned driven fake R & B crap to those few people.

Mike Oldfield is up there with the best composers in human history.

Thank you for this wonderful upload and thank God for the music of Mike Oldfield.

  • @the12345joker

you should thank mike, cuz mike is god

  • @kregaan i was in a psych hospital once and was talking to a Pysch in my room and i told him Mike was God, (He started making lots of notes,I quickly added" the God Of Music"" he replied, " Im very very glad you told me that" LOL Trouble is people these days dont recognize living real legends (-:

  • Celebration of Music...

  • 12 people didn't like this.

  • 3:10

The only one mistake in the whole concert.

  • mikey has a big catalogue and really good works, but frankly today's works are very very out gas, he has'nt got the inspiration of the 80's and much less the 70's, i think he need to leave the sinthesizers and back to the multi instrumentation again, like in tubular bells and the great amarok besides he could repeat himself with tubular bells 5 6 7 or eight!....

  • masterpiece

  • 12 people with minds of their own chose to dislike this

  • Aún se me ponen los pelos como escarpias.

  • Thumbs up if you first heard of Mike Oldfield from reading Richard Branson's book " Loosing My Virginity" !! or were born after 1989 and appreciate him with all your heart!

  • @IIgniteTheRevolution I was born 89 and he's my favourite musician - but I got to know about him from my dad who's got a lot of old LPs that I listened through - Tubulas Bells was one of them.

  • True master piece ,Mike Oldfield is a genius as a composer and artist he is some one that helped me get through my teenage years. The album tubeular Bells Trandsends time and space.

  • I have this on a twin DVD, combining Tubular Bells 2 from Scotland and Tubular Bells 3 (from Horse Guards Parade in London). Both concerts were brilliant, and worth watching. By the way it is Edinburgh, not as per the spelling here.

  • Audio?

  • what would the world be like without mike, how many superlatives do tou need,,,, ????. just one genius at work!!!!!!!!!

  • The concert was many years ago... I remember watching it on the tele... must be about 20 years ago now.... brilliant... Them bells just have your hairs standing up on the back of your neck......

  • to sit and just cill no better music

  • Ban anyone tell me when this concert was? And does anyone know where I can get Taurus II full version

  • 4:33 :) !!!

  • A true musician indeed - the one and only Mike Oldfield.

  • GOOSEBUMPS!!!

  • Magnifique...

  • Musical genious, let's see... I would define it as one who can stimulate various senses, not just earing. For example in the chorus section i can imagine an african savana with the sunset and lions strawling by, and it's really something...

Conclusion: Mike Oldfield - music genious :)

  • @tonywolf100 Amen.

  • great live music, i was there1

  • i think that is playback , it´s not very different from the original studio album.......

  • Is the announcer John Gordon Sinclair of Gregory's Girl fame? He seems a wee bit glib for the job and lacks the drama and gravitas of the bloke in the original album. What a great vid though - thanks for posting

  • whoa this is kind of cheesy......wait for it......6:00.....YESSSS!!! CHILLS. Great post!!

  • Top, top, top...

  • This album would stand up against ANY piece of music ever written , the man mike oldfield is utterly brilliant !!

  • @phillace

ANY music ever written? Just how much music have you listened to?

  • @forbeliculus I don't know what you're talking about. All I said was, he's a true genius. I stand by that.

  • great !!would be just awesome if i could fucking hear it!!

  • my fave piece of modern music! nothing can beat this. shame that alan rickman couldn't do the bell speach part here

  • It's more than music!

  • i love this music

  • the outsider with pure genius! xxx

  • SHEER PERFECTION!!!!

  • What does the guy say between 2 electric guitars and digital sound procesor?

  • @topedeporno The Master of Ceremonies says "the Venetian effect"; referring to the mandolin being of Italian origin (I assume).

  • @Vinterfrid TY

  • @Vinterfrid It's a tone setting on keyboard synthesizers: "Venice" (a soft, high-pitched whistle). Mandolin also appears in the song.

  • @Canaderek From Wikipedia: The instruments introduced, in order are; grand piano, pipe organ, glockenspiel, bass guitar, vocal cords, "two slightly sampled electric guitars", "the Venetian effect", "digital sound processor" and tubular bells. "The Venetian Effect" refers to a characteristic mandolin technique, a type of tremolo known as bisbigliando, in which the effect of sustained notes is achieved by repetition.

  • @Vinterfrid I didn't know there were Wikipedia entries for Mike Oldfield's music. I've never been big on Wikipedia, but I think it's a neat idea to have an encyclopedia to which anyone to contribute. It's certainly fun, if nothing else.

I notice that the Wikipedia entry in question is noted as not being reliable. I like very much that they make clear such distinctions.

The "Venice" synth effect is #58 on the Korg M1 (used by Oldfield). Maybe it was made with sampled mandolins?

  • i love him ohh mike!!

  • should have been john cleese

  • Mike Oldfield makes me wish I had more than two ears.

  • 9 ppl like Rebecca Black

  • Live FROM Edinburgh, Scotland.

  • The title should read "Live fro Edinburgh, Scotland."

  • Mix it louder!!

  • A beautiful, if not note for note, rendition of his original album. I know because I practically wore the grooves out playing over so much! A true shame this music, and similar from that time period, never seems to get the air play it deserves! There's a lot of great new music around today, but I'm still grateful to have grown up through "Old School"! ,,,,,Cheers!

  • Genius performance!

  • I've been into Mike Oldfield for years - Tubular Bells 1 got me hooked. However, having recently explored some of the live video footage of him, it becomes clear that he stands out from the crowd as someone that not only enjoys what he does, but also that he looses himself in the music. Add that to the fact that he seems to surround himself with musicians that very much play "for the sake of it" and not "because it's a job" and I find my respect for the man goes to a whole new level!

  • Godlike....

    God bless you, Mike.

  • i wet myself

  • finde den fehler...

  • Joyful!

  • This is fantastic. My only gripe is the sound level is so low, I have to turn it all the way up and it's still hard to hear.

  • de mis músicos favoritos Oldfield es una inspiración

  • Brilliant, outstanding composition and performance.

  • que triste tocan y sima tremenda orquesta a l pedo

  • totaly wonderful

  • Tubular Bells II war mein erstes Mike Oldfield Konzert. Einfach super!!

    Thx fürs einstellen

  • if this is 92, i would buy it today like many others i guess

  • 8 sad and shallow people thumbed this down...i pity such soul-less and empty people..music is the spirit of human life and for our short time on this world we can all unite in the human bond of music from the depths of all our hearts and minds...great people like Mike Oldfield bring us all together and unite in harmony and love....

  • @MrCOLTSR2 i love this and thats ok,you love this and thats ok,12 ppl dont like this and thats ok too.dont go on about harmony and human bonds if you only mean it for ppl who like the same things as you,or think the same as you, thats how nazism started.....dick

  • @MrDogtrainer1234 Hey Mrdogshittrainer... stop trying to be clever...you obviously aren't!.. my comments have nothing to do with nazism they're to do with music you dickhead!.....so dont try and confuse or twist the issue or call me a dick you pathetic sad retard!...as for soul-less people there are countless millions..and not just regarding music!....there are also countless pathetic empty in the head people like you!...but hey its a BIG world so u will get by! ;)

i love the way you worked shit into mr dog trainer, inspired.

as for me being clever......well yes,i am.i must be to provoke such a strong reaction from you.

    thanx for the comment.................dick

  • @MrCOLTSR2 p.s i didnt call you a nazi only pointed out the similarity between you and them ie being so angry and against anyone who doesnt share your views..................dick troll fuck

  • Would have loved it if he had convinced Alan Rickman to do the voice part.

  • Absolutely Beautiful

  • this man is amazing wow

  • Mike Oldfield is AMAZING

  • Goosebumps!

  • Is Mike actually singing, or is he faking? I've never ever seen him sing live before, so it surprises me a bit.

  • @Canaveral305 I remember a song he released 20 years or so again called 'Pictures in the Dark'...never made it into the charts - but was a really good song - he sang it very well.

  • @wtc175 I don't think Mike sang on Pictures In The Dark, he think he just mimed another singer's performance for the video... but he did sing on Heaven's Open - and was pretty good - and some other songs (like in Tubular Bells or Ommadawn). But i've never seen him do it in a live performance, which is why I'm asking...

  • I simply don't understand that 8 negative points...something's wrong with that people, they just don't recognize music.

  • Ok der versuch war da aber bitte dann doch das Origenale :(

  • W0W!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is the real magic!!! :)

  • Vocal Cords... GENIAL!!

  • Nostalgia flood!

  • Richard Hammond 0.o

  • I remember in 1992 when the Edinburgh Concert was Simocast (spelling?) I was in Collingwood Ontario watching the program with my dear parents and a friend. That night was magical, we felt the same electrifying pulse that held those attending spellbound. Tubular Bells is a synergy of perfection. Love it, and that night. And the fireworks at the conclusion capped off aabeautiful evening. Mary R

  • perfección musical!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ein grösserer musiker als DAVID?

    JUST MIKE OLDFIELD ! ! !

  • Heard the first tubular bells when i was `bout 18 or so and was totally entranced, things haven`t changed all these years later........

  • Wow! Saw this concert a short time after this live session. It made such an impression that I bought the CD the day after. It has stayed with me during all these years... This video of "The Bell" is just magnificent and it still gives me the shivers, 18 years later!

  • @anthistatic Good choice !!! Oldfield is professional

  • Mike Oldfield is a GOD i can never get enough of his music. I am a Mike Oldfield fanatic. I listen to the same songs everyday it's getting quite obsessive. lshmtfimc

  • @weecake111 I fully understand butt try something different ,,,sometimes

But his music is Very Good Indead..

  • I listen to a wide variety of music, yet choosy about the style. And even after repeatedly hearing those favorites, I have to part away, to hear another artist. But for Mike's music, I can never get enough....and listened to the same ones today that were produced from him in the 70s.

  • The guy introducing the instruments has a reaaaally weird accent!!

  • Mike Oldfield... best thing ever happened to mankind!

  • Saved to my playlist: "AMBIENCE: aural". amazing!

  • Musical perfection. Check out the musicians' faces; all truly enjoying what they're doing. One of those moments when it "all comes together" and total bliss is achieved. KARES06, thanks for posting...

  • Marvellous! Rigthly down to one of my favourites in my musical web-reader!

  • La musica de los dioses a de sonar así.

  • I have loved this from the first time I played my mums LP :)

  • 3:10 Grand piano mistake?

  • @Alaber78 I have never taken that particular part to really be a mistake.

  • only a word... LOVE

  • The Man is a TRUE genius!!!!!

  • @jmp5255

NO! You are a truly music illiterate.

  • @forbeliculus And you my friend are a brain dead fuck nut.

  • @jmp5255

Sorry, I would like to inform your dim perception that, first, I am not your friend. and second it is being confirmed by your immediately resorting to vulgar vocabulary that you are also extremely limited in all other parts of your brain. Much like a gorilla who has not enough intelligence to defend its position and is only able to get angry. Case rested! Fans of this music are people of similar capacity as yours. Brain dead would be someone who doesn't display much thinking.

  • @forbeliculus What does jmp5255's opinion have to do with the music, or Mike Oldfield? Like I said before, if you can write something better and prove that it does not take high brain capacity to do so, I'll change my mind and support you. Until then, us Mike Oldfield fans will continue to listen to Tubular Bells I, II, and III, believing, as we do, that he is a musical genius. Good day to you sir (or madame, or whatever you are).

  • @jmp5255

I know you don't know what i'm talking about. A musical genius compared to who? Who do you know? I like to inform your dim perception that not being able to express valid arguments and immediately resorting to vulgarity, which is what you do, is the mark of a creature of weak intelligence. Which is why you like and defend this "music". This "music" that does nothing to feed your brain man! wake up!

  • @forbeliculus If it's so bad, then I have a few questions:

    1. Why do you keep coming back to watch this video?

    2. What do you have against this music? If you listen to the original Tubular Bells and this one, you would notice that what Mike Oldfield has done is not much different from what musical geniuses like Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart once did.

    3. Why don't you try to write something like it. After all, it does not take high brain capacity, as you said before.

  • @forbeliculus We also need to remember, Opinions are like assholes, everyone has them, and they all stink. Keep your's covered up!!

  • This is great music! We won't find this anywhere today...

  • @Weirdfilms33 there is great music everywhere even now, you just have to find it...

  • @Weirdfilms33 Progressive Rock/Metal.

  • Dem Mann gehört ein Oskar verliehen

  • Awesome!!!

  • Einfach nur ****!!! Mike hat es einfach drauf

  • Estupendo

  • estupendo

  • I love it so much !!

  • This might very well be the greatest live performance ever in the history of non-conducted music. The little smile on Mike's lips at the very end of this piece says all. He was at the time a perfectionist, not content with a live performance if it did not sound exactly like his recording. This one comes very close, if not better. Luckily he has abandoned those thoughts now and try instead to make the concerts unique experiences. This performance never gets old, and the same goes for Mike :)

  • Und wieder mal Entenpelle hoch 10!!!!

  • @Myxin666

    auf jeden fall
