  • You list multiple songs by WILLIE DIXON, the most recorded and covered artist in blues, but do not give him the credit due. And, you have none of his actual performances of his own songs that are some the THE best.

    SPOONFUL

    LITTLE RED ROOSTER

    YOU SHOOK ME

    HOOCHIE COOCHIE MAN

    BACK DOOR MAN

I JUST WANT TO MAKE LOVE TO YOU

    AND ABOUT 30 MORE.

  • @tg38b Didnt he write these songs FOR Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Little Walter, etc. and weren't those versions the original recordings that hit the charts and the versions that everyone remembers? If I remember correctly, Willie Dixon didnt even record the songs himself til many years later and they weren't nearly as popular as the original recordings.

  • @tg38b I agree he deserves more credit. He's extremely significant in blues history, probably the greatest blues songwriter of all time. I just don't think his actual performances of these songs were as significant as the original recordings for Chess Records by Muddy Waters and all those guys.

  • Great songs. American treasures.
