I've learned in History class that the English longbowmen would train all their lives to pull back the English longbow to full draw, with a heavier draw every year or so. How long did it take you?

I build an English style longbow last year. It's nice to shoot. I want to build a warbow though. Something around the 100lb range. Maybe this spring!

@TSOAS2008 He was trying to tell me that the curve was forged into the blade, and that the tempering process had nothing to do with it! I sent him a link to a video showing the blade coming out of the forge straight, and then coming out of the water curved, and then asked him to show some supporting evidence of his view point. I have not heard back from him, and suspect that I won't! He just wanted me to be all warm and fuzzy and stop bothering poor Greggie!

ive just started making a 150lb Warbow! when you actually fire a couple of bows, its really not hard to see why English Bowmen were feared all throughout Medieval Europe!! trained from the day they could walk and having generally 2 thirds of the army as bowmen... its even thought that if we still used Bowmen in the American war of independence, we would have won lol
