Music, Western and Eastern, have their own grammar and tradition. To merge them superficially shows ignorance and disrespect of both. The rules of tonal harmony are not suspended for so-called composers and arrangers unless they consider themselves above the greats, past and present, who submitted to them. What they don't understand is the scientific, acoustical base that underlies both traditions. Of course if one has tin ears and the musicality of a stone, one cannot hear what is so wrong..
Open up and eccept new things... stop being a stickler, and pretend being an expert, you are not. It is a wonderful piece celebrating Christmas spirit which you are lacking by simply being negative.
Wonderful vocals, great work, well put together deserving every clap at the end. Please keep giving!!!! and Merry CHrismas to you all!!!
Oriental music should not be harmonized, less so by unmusical amateurs who think they can suspend the rules of tonal music without understanding either Western or Eastern traditions. The end results don't do justice to either. Cultural pluralism melts down everything to a amorphous common denominator.
