  • magnetic pick-ups respond better to the greater mass(metal) in heavy strings for that over-D tone "More mass" not wimpy = More Ballz in my way of thinking

  • Would I be a weak and total tool, if I asked for.... (watch out) ......tabs??? ha

I am soft I know. But... I just see better with.... well my eyes. I am a newb, so I am over my head trying to play SRV. But I figure. If I am going to eat, I want filet Mignon. If I am going to like women, I want Megan Fox, (or whoever you like) if I am going to like guitar, I like SRV!!!! I guess I could get software :(

  • omg huge strings are those 12s or 13s

  • @TommyDai1 i believe theyre 12s

  • 11-48 are not huge for Blues playing. Mine are 11-48 or 50 and feel good to do bends. When I went down to 10's they felt ok. When my EB John Petrucci JP-6 arrived it had EB 9's on it stock. I felt like I could bend it all the way to the low E. LOL 9's are good for Metal I guess but not Blues. Not as good a Tone out of them. Talk about thick, my Martin HD-28 came with Martin Coated 13's for the High E. now that will build up your finger strength on an acoustic guitar. Makes my 11's feel light.

  • Wow man, u rock I knew that position for 20 years but not that lick

    cool ass shit man

  • I'd be cool to see someone doing some videos like these for bass guitar.

  • What does it mean when someone is saying a minor third.?

  • It is the third note in the minor scale, one half step below the third note in the major scale.

  • A minor third is an interval, which is comprised by two notes, the number of whole/half steps (or frets) between the two notes determines which interval it is. A minor third is A to C and the like.

  • dude those strings are HUGE!!!!!

  • @SMGuitar93 12;are great..I use (not even slinkys),, heavy is better,,I tried 11's and lost tone and punch.. let her rip potato chip!

  • Great lessons. Thanks. Can you spend more time on the right hand, though? I sense there is a lot of subtle stuff going on that adds nice texture and Stevie-style, but I can't quite grasp it.

  • g flat tuned 440 would be an A :P

  • If you are playing in standard tuning you are still playing in g flat, just from a different position....if you play it in the same position as the dude playing with a guitar tuned down a half step you will be playing in g....if you are in standard tuning, back it up to the second fret.

  • Couldn't have said it any better myself.

  • Every time I tune down, and try to relate it to a backing track in standard tuning I get confused, so I know how you feel. I have to sit back and think about it for a minute. Great Lick!

  • Was G the key you were looking for?

  • lolz i meant G ...you almost need two guitars , one tuned at 440 and one at 1/2 step down ..then get a third for open G hahaha

  • sorry im kinda really confused i need the tabs sorry

  • Fantastic lessons man...I am going to buy some of your longer ones. You do a great job of illustrating and explaining

    ROn

  • your videos are very helpful. Keep makin more please

  • i would like to learn how to play rivera paradise,,, do u think u could also demonstrate,,,also if u could demonstrate how too tune your guitar to yours so were both playing in the same key ,,,

  • Which strings are you using?

  • Right now I'm using GHS Boomers, not thrilled about them, actually looking to try other strings. My gauges run from 11 to 48 or something like that.

  • I use Ernie Ball Beefy Slinky 11-54. Ever give those a shot?

  • I like the GHS Boomers. Nickel rockers are better imo, but I don't think they come in .012s so I use GHS Boomers.

  • Try the DR Pure Blues I was a firm Dean Markley user till they discontinued the Magnums. Ive spent years trying to locate a string that didnt break down quick and held its tone a long time. These DR's are great.

  • @gr8bluesgtr Try DR. Pure Blues strings...you'll think you have deid and gone to string heaven...try thr 10's, less work for the same tone and they don't seem to break...just sing!

  • nice lessons man

what about a lesson on those blues boxes?

  • You're reading my mind! I was just thinking last night how I would structure a series of lessons about those. I think I need to push that to the front of my list.

  • that would be great

  • cool, thanks for putting all of these up

  • awesome! You know what I would love you to do next, if you ever had the time or the inclination? I would love for you to break down the intro to Texas Flood (which I think incorporates the riff you show in this lesson), because it's one of my favorite intros ever, and it's done wrong by so many youtubers. It would be cool to see someone with such a grasp of stevies real playing break it down for lowly amatuers like myself.

  • Hmmm.. that's not a bad idea..

  • You should man, it's a fun riff that alot of people would love on youtube.

I just read the comment below me... do you prefer Texas Specials over those Lindy Fralin blues pickups, or what man?

  • Fralins all the way. I'm just too cheap to buy them for my mexi-strat.

  • nice strat dude! what strat is it?

  • That's just a mexican strat with texas special pickups running straight into a Fender HotRod Deluxe with a fresh pair of JJ/Tesla 6L6GC power tubes.

  • Cool stuff!

SOUNDS VERY NICE !! 5/5 from me !

  • kkkkk
