  • That drummer (James Gadson) is not human.

  • This video needs a "damn cool" button.

  • <3 this song! great for karaoke :)

  • That bassist... chill. Chill as fuck.

  • only know this song b/c of the bit on fresh prince

  • Hello. My name is SOPA. I'm going to have to ask you to go ahead and delete this video. If it's not lining the pockets of corporate fucks, we can't allow it.

Remember. Music didn't exist until there were record companies. Music isn't universal or a gift from the cosmos.

    Thank you for understanding.

  • @soSUBURBIA Doubt this is an original comment, but DAMN FUCKING STRAIGHT.

My sentiments exactly. I have an email tab open, in which I'm writing a letter to my congressman. Fucking Congress.

  • @cosm47 Hah. It was original. I'm making a habit of putting that comment up everywhere I go now. Starting last night!

  • Who the fuck is Yehoogame?????

  • Great post! Thanks. Good pic quality for a 40 year old video, and the sound...outstanding. Once again...thank you!

  • Guys, take a deep breathe and realize you're arguing on the internet. Go outside.

  • Let's all pitch in and nominate Bill Withers for the Nobel Prize.

  • Damn, that's a good song. How can you not like this song?

  • everything about this video is cool.

  • oh my god the way that smooth electric guitar comes in at 1:00 is sooo groooovy perfect and beautiful soo much soul i am envious

  • Sorry but the count of I know's is 26.

  • @AxelRobot14: Isn't he the Coolest Pimp my friend :) he reminds me of a friend of mine, who's a pimp and plays the drums

  • I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know I Know I know

  • the drummer looks like a pimp right from the 70's

  • Bill, your music is timeless!

  • The drummer can see the sunshine, that's why hes wearing his shades!

  • This is music. Not today's Hip-Hop, Rap, RnB etc... I really hate the music of today, it's boring and it's noisy. No good lyrics, no melody, nothing at all. All artists want nothing but money now, not like these people from the past, who sang from their heart...

    RIP good music

  • @Yehoogame Thats not true, your just not looking hard enough

  • @Yehoogame wow that's a really biased statement!! Hello you clearly have never heard of singers like aloe blacc, marshia ambrosia, erykah badu, corrine bailey rae... hell the list goes on. Yes mainstream rap is horrible but that doesn't mean they aren't talented rappers who are trying to put out a positive music!!! They are underground because record labels don't want to promote that stuff. The want to make money!!! Stop pigeon-holing entire genres of music!!!

  • @Yehoogame aloe blacc with i need a dollar was not bad for the music of the last 5 years but your saying the truth !

  • @Yehoogame i know its a god damn shame. what the hell happened

  • @Yehoogame how right u r bruv, hit the nail on the head. big respect take it easy bruv m

  • @Yehoogame Music isn't getting bad, it's just evolving like it always will. The difference is you are getting old and cynical.

  • @Yehoogame Get over yourself. The problem is you don't listen to *good* music of today, ignorant ass.

  • @juanvaldez8 I'm not trying to start an argument, but I have been wondering lately what is good music today? Do you have any suggestions?

  • @Yehoogame

massive generalization there. I imagine you aren't in touch with the music scene as you may of been in your younger years.

  • @Yehoogame shut the fuck up

  • @Yehoogame That's todays pop-music you're describing. There are loads of good bands still kicking it.

  • @Yehoogame If you think there's no good music out today, then you're obviously not listening to the right music. Stop being ignorant and explore the artists worth listening to.

  • @Yehoogame There is plenty good music today, it just depends on where your lucky. Top 40 isn't your best bet.

  • @Yehoogame Clearly you only listen to mainstream rap if you think this. There's so much amazing rap being produced, it's just widely overlooked. Lyrics? Try Aesop Rock, Macklemore, or Atmosphere.

  • @Yehoogame I'm tired of hearing this! The popular music of the day back then (probably some shitty disco) was just as bad as the shitty pop and rap the record companies and producers churn out endlessly today. Nothing's changed, good music is everywhere, it's just not popular so you might have to go looking for it. 30 years from now when they play music from this decade, it won't be what's most popular today but rather the music that stands the test of time! Don't mourn music, make it!

  • @mattfasl One name ; michael kiwanuka

Search and enjoy.. i thought the sound of bill withers and the rest of them died.. not true. it lives on & thanks be.

  • @boiledhead

Hey thanks for the tip about Michael Kiwanuka; good stuff... real good!

  • @mattfasl Sorry but youre fucking retarded, Find me the band on the billboard list in the same place as Bill Withers and I guarantee you that that sorry fuck will be nowhere near as remembered as this man. No young Weezy or Chemical Romance could hold a candle to this dude and the likes of him. I mourn music everyday for the simple fact that simple shits can access autotune, garage band, ableton, whatever and then rape music with the twist of a knob and then upload and hurt my ears.

  • @mattfasl Are you fucking high? Music in the 70's and 80's was still music. There were original melodies and real singers and songwriters. Today it's 100% manufactured. You have to be a fucking retard to compare pop in the 70's to pop today. It was once original and new.

  • @xiongdihao So what if they covered each other? They were still writing original music and melodies and yes they had a lot of talent helping out from earlier years. It's why it was different than now where everything is plastic and auto-tuned.

  • @mattfasl Porcupine Tree FTW

  • @mattfasl it is actually easier to find good music nowadays, because of the internet and shit.

  • @Yehoogame

For the love of God shut the fuck up with that tripe.

  • @Yehoogame You're listening to the wrong stuff man.

  • @Yehoogame Or we can just not give a fuck

  • @Yehoogame never heard so much bullshit, to take a line from the legend that is Jay-Z "do you even listen to music or just skim through it". There's more music around these days, so theres a lot of rubbish, but plenty of good lyrics/melody. Stop hating.

  • @Yehoogame What a generic thing to say. If you stay away from Top 40 and do some research then you'll find there is more amazing music now than there ever has been. Marketing and money sure do steer people away from what is and could be timeless hits, I will agree there.

  • @Yehoogame so you must really love dubstep

  • the drummer looks like a litle of Mungo Jery???LOL

  • powerful nigga

  • 3 people have never seen the sunlight.:)

  • this grown folk music

  • Damn drummer got into my smoke sack again

  • That drummer knows something we don't

  • too bad black guys don't make music like this anymore :(

  • Bill Withers is the coolest motherfucker

  • My Wife and I seen Bill's wonderful 2009 Rockumentary " Still Bill ", We found his Life journey remarkable! from early on serving his Country in the Military, then a blue collar working Man in the airline industry to Fame and Fortune in Super Stardomville! Seeing Bill interacting with his Family members, and Friends from his childhood town was truly refreshing! His kind, and humble spirit shines through!

  • de la frappe

  • @biglank1 OMG YOU'RE SO RIGHT! NO ONE WILL UNDERSTAND AND MITCH HEDBERG WILL GET ANGRY OVER ME NOT CREDITING HIS JOKE! HOORAY FOR YOU!

  • Curtis Mayfield on drums!

  • Cocaine is a hell of a drug. That is all.

  • WHAt DOES HE SAY AT THE 15 second mark? what do men usually say bill withers? I dont think iv ever said that in my life

  • "I'm glad the old jive broads split"

  • What does he say at 16 seconds?

  • 2 people obviously don't understand what music is. These type of musicians set the standard for music today. This is pure/raw soul music. Not like the synthesized auto-tuned bs we like to call music today.

  • dude! turn on the CC on the bottom left f the video! LOL!

  • Where is this friggin' concert? I see Use Me is played on this same set.

  • @itpduder I don't know I just wish I was there

  • Bill Withers is amongst the finest singers, that I have ever heard. His voice is so rich & expressive & he knows about groove & feel.

  • Also have a look at an amazing version of ain't no sunshine...

    youtube.com/

    watch?v=JQdfKWWJcIg

  • Word

  • songs too short. it has to be like 10 minutes just like the techno ones ;)

  • No sunshine at all when she left

  • LOVE THIS!! So true.. bout men playin it off..

  • I want a lb. of whatever the drummer is on in this video...

  • you guys are missing the point here...let's talk about this utterly awesome drummer!

  • Bill Withers is still the best. So many have sung this song in the past years on American Idol, Britain's Got Talent and America's Got Talent but no one can beat the original.

  • @saminnyc

There are some excellent covers of "Ain't No Sunshine" (not those performed on the 'Idol' and 'Talent' reality programs though).

Both Roy Ayers and The Harlem Underground Band have made good yet quite alternate covers of this song, amongst many other good and respectable funk outfits.

It is true, however, that one cannot go past the original.

  • @saminnyc thats cuz american isol is bullshit sellouts with never any talent bill withers is a soulful songwriter that speaks straight from the gut. this is real music

  • What doe he say after "Men given the same situation say something like" and before "knowing all the time......"

  • @krishansy Bill says "I'm glad the old jive broad split man", meaning "I'm glad that she's gone".

  • how many i know,s

  • @aldocowell lol enough

  • this is one of my favorite songs

  • g*ddamn he is cool...

  • The last chord... ♥

  • how many "I know's" does he say in a row ?

  • @Aaronmiami 26 haha :P

  • @Aaronmiami 25

  • Can someone set selections from "March of the Penguins" to this song?

  • Love this version, man speaks from the heart
