You can win the Masters, You can win the U.S Open, they both prove that your a heck of a golfer....Winning the Payne Stewart award means your one heck of a person, to me thats the greatest award there is, in memory of one the greatest golfers and even more so one of the greatest persons ever. RIP Payne. True inspiration.
I was bout 8 years old when i went to the 1999 US open with my dad and grandpa, so i didnt know much about Payne Stewart but soon after I did and to this day Payne Stewart has been my role model for golf and life. I read his book that his wife co wrote and it truly touched my heart. My dad always says that Payne is the definition of a perfect golfer because he wasnt the one always winning for money and majors but winning for the love of the game.
Paynes Stewart - a name synonomous with Class and Respect. I miss him so much! I remember sitting at home when word came of his tragic death and I cried my heart out that day. It was if someone had taken the wind out of my sail. The world stood still that day. Payne was one who was destined for greatness beyond measure, not only in golf but in life. We love and miss you so much today....
Payne's own words describe for me why I personally miss him greatly: "But in the end it's still a game of golf, and if at the end of the day you can't shake the hand of your opponents and still be friends, then you've missed the point." Substitute one word "golf" with "life" and we all have some great words to live by... Thanks Payne, RIP friend.
I have been totally inspired by Payne Stewart, his story helped me realize my dream again after I never thought id be able to make it as a golfer, he is a true legend and will always be sorely missed...

Payne Stewart's character was above reproach; he was one of few positive role models in sports!

I think Gary Player spoke the real truth about Payne, the most gemtlemenly person to step foot on the PGA Tour.
