I wouldn't buy an AR 6200 radio receiver as that is a parkflier radio intended for short range use only. It would be very easy to fly the Radian out of its range and lose the plane. You are much better off with the full range AR 500.

@RockinRobbins13 umm the ar6200, and now the newer ar6210 have as much or more range than the ar500... they even have a 2nd satellite receiver... Not sure what you are thinking of...

@earthling1984 : You are 100% correct! The AR6210 is sold as a full range radio. Tests show a range up to 1.8 miles. AR500s have been shown to be over 2 miles. Range depends on many independent factors. I'd consider both nearly identical range. We don't know what kind of intervening obstacles there were. Was on the Spektrum website and the parkflier radios, which caused many crashes when they were used in inappropriate aircraft (not Spektrum's fault!) are rare now.

@earthling1984 and for anyone wondering, there is no way that you can see an airplane 1.8 miles away well enough to fly it. Both the AR6200 and AR500/600 radios have to be considered rock solid as far as you can see to fly a plane. The AR500 in my Radian has been flawless.

What's wrong with the radio that comes with the RTF?

@UtRadioGuy Nothing is wrong with it, the DX5E is a fine transmitter and the AR500 receiver is great too. I would, however, not recommend the RTF version anymore. The reason being, there is a new Radian *pro* out for sale now. It comes with ailerons and flaps, and also has carbon reinforcement thoughout the plane.  It comes only in a PNP or BNF package.

@earthling1984 - I thought about the pro but there seems to be a power issue with this plane. Not enough power the forums say. Some people say replace the new prop with the old one. Horizon is working on the issue.

Don't worry, there are plenty of new planes out and coming out for me to review :) These are older planes(Radian, Super Cub LP) that I thought should be mentioned again as even though they are older, they have DSM2 technology and are still great planes that are wonderful fliers!
