This kind of fighting needs to go. I don't mind when the players go into the corner fighting for the puck and a fight erupts, or when a player is sticking up for a skilled player who just took a cheap shot, but to many fights today (like the one above) that get started off a face-off because the players feel like they are going to fight eventually, why don't we get it over with......stupid? Just play hockey, and if you happen to run sombody, and they take exception......fight.

There's nothing wrong with 2 guys going after each other, teams need an enforcer. just think that these fights that start a few seconds after the puck has been dropped is getting old. It's like I said in my earlier post, Do they feel they were going to fight eventually, and they just want to get it over with? The NHL is changing, and since Bettman became the GM the game hasn't been as good and that includes the fighting. Just thought I'd throw that out there. :-)

Fighting is important, you need 1 or 2 enforcers (at least 1 needs to be able to skate), to protect your stars. There is nothing like watching your enforcer, go after sombody who has been hitting everybody on your team. He doesn't play the puck, and he uses his body, stick or fists; he spends some in the box, but he gets his points across. Players like that are needed, but the refs need to let them go a little longer. I blame Bettman. :-)
