"...but again, you've got to be clean, because if you get it in the wrong line on this first bend here, you're going to lose this whole series."
"You're going up here with so much G-forces on you can't take your foot off the throttle and get it onto the brake. Every time I see this it frightens me."
the drivers at that time had massive balls. imagine any of todays drivers doing that? they had massive memories as well to remember a track that's 14 miles long. its a shame some idiots sprayed grffitti on the track
I would have needed a potty break to get one lap done :D I have raced that track on Gran Turismo 4 on the PS2, almost 10KM long I beleive and tough to do.
Bah, that post took me 20 minutes, started thinking... Please be prepared and very cautious if you plan on going there (which I can only recommend really), but be prepared for a nasty shock as well. Serious bike crashes happen a couple of times a week there, so you might be confronted with that. I've been told only about half of those survive. So please consider 4 wheels instead of 2. It really is especially unforgiving for bikers.
Yeah at it's worst it got to around 3 or 4 drivers a season. The medical facilities were so poor Stewart used to sew his name, blood group and medical allergies (penicillin) into his overalls in case of an accident, where the hospitals wouldn't have the drivers' records.
why doesn't the engine note change???

I am a skydiving instructor. I can do 15 tandems in a day.....but this would scare the crap out of me...no margin for error.

I have always loved to hear Jackie Stewart's brogue! What a treat to hear him comment as he drives! What a great racer!

...as he DRIVES? You mean, this wasn't after the fact?
Holy hell.

Actually the driver is Howden Ganley. You can see the first few letters of his name on his helmet. Jackie was just commentating.

You needed gonads the size of cricket balls to drive at the Nordschliefe like that. God, I just love that clip; shame it's not the whole 14 miles.

I think at least 4 drivers died during a Nordschleife GP. Not sure, suggest you look it up. It's probably more.
