Ubuntu is built on Debian's efforts, focusing on Gnome -related projects, whereas SuSE has been its own distribution since the beginning, with desktop application set designed around KDE and Qt. Furthermore, SuSE shares Redhat's package format, while Ubuntu has gone with Debians .deb packages..

int3rl0per is correct. How could Ubuntu have taken their source from SuSE if it utilizes completely different resources, such as Gnome and the .deb packages? Maybe YOU should look it up, or maybe you have and are just too dumb to comprehend the meaning of the results you find. hm... i have to tried SLED... anyway, could someone answer me: what is a current kernel version in SLED 10? and glibc and gcc? and, if i'll install it- will i have flash, codecs etc out of box (on x64bits platform)?
