@jengelele was it a live jam ? weepin willow and this time were always my favourite tracks off urban hyms not forgettin the rollin people!! are u into any of the earlier verve stuff ? storm in heaven? gravity grave e.p?
@alreadythere1993 --- The early Verve stuff passed me by, those were days when more energized sounds like Soundgarden, Red Hot Chilli Peppers (etc.) were flooding a vibrant scene. I think A Northern Soul is the point where I start relating with the Verve.
Gravity Grave is great groove music good use of harmonica, bass and guitar- its the subject matter that I don't find amusing in the least. Sort of where I draw the line with Ashcroft. I understand it, I just don't agree with it. Bad Karma.
@ZKF3845 -- ha! good of you to ask. Apparently I have to buy the rights to do that. I was thinking of remastering a couple of Verve cover jams that people seem to like - so that they can eventually download them.
@ZKF3845 --- there are several ways to go about it. It basically works out that I pay a fee. Then add extra 'time fee' (because my jams are longer than 5 Minutes). I can save a couple of bucks if I purchse all the rights at one time. For instance, I would want to release some other Verve Jams - like the Appalachian Springs/Rolling People jam that I recently completed. Right now I am mulling creating a 'Life's an Ocean' jam.... I't will get done!.... I promise...lol
Jamming is what really misses indie music nowadays. The percussions are a great addition , one of the few times when someone creates a musical hybrid of his influences and not just a series of sounds put together one by one. I mean , this version has character , that's the point of a cover. Recreation.
@ntost Thanks for comments on the percussion - that Peter Salisbury chap sure is a tough act to follow.... it took 'forever' toget the drums to feel like I somehow got it right.... not easy - but was worth every inch of energy fiddling with them...
The tough bit with the hybrid was deciding what to keep out of the jam - I mean there are so many delicious guitar licks and pallacial vocal back-drops (in the original) to make the double-helix on a piece of DNA feel impish and trite...
@jengelele Ich have to think , too x) No Problem Mate ehm .. i think it must be a kind of psychedelic , my brother helped me ...he knows a lot about music .... its kind a sehnsucht nach musik , lust .to feel free verschmelzen ..hope u understand my english is also bad ;)
I found this today after discovering instrumentals Oasis produced for TV/Movies etc. Thought Id search for Verve instrumentals and came across this, this is a great cover. It lacks nothing, you can get lost in this music, just like Verve!

Jierndow 1 year ago
@Jierndow My German isn't any good, so maybe you can help me create a name for it?
How about: "Summen Traum Kunst Losmachen Schwarmerei um zu Genesen Die Seele"
That's the best I can think of - at least for the moment....

if there was ever a song to make you feel nostalgic about your life and life in general this would be the song.
Bobby61189 2 years ago
I agree; the Verve seem to have crafted an epic about the depths of being forlorn ...
... and it's right from the gut.... ..."I've got time to ease my pain .... walk through that door and kiss the rain...."
Or something like that....

This is what Urban Hymns should have sounded like. Awesome job. Worthy of being a b-side remix for a Weeping Willow single.

@vervecovers
Considering who you are, and knowing your in-depth aptitude and skills when it comes to the verve - thats a real honor.
Thanks for taking time to comment; maybe I'll have time to cook up a revision of 'Muhamad Ali' in the next year.... I'm really diggin it...

Cheers!
I always thought the 'groove' in Weeping Willow to transcend some sort of major barrier...
Playing the drums was very challenging; while laying down the guitar tracks felt like being sucked through some inter-galactic worm hole.
Glad you appreciate it!
