Sorry, I don't think it was all that bad. He's an awesome player and he demonstrated the amp well. It would have been nice to see close ups on the knobs though.
FINALLY , ive figured out how to crank this amp into overdrive , at bedroom volumes :D , without any attenuation, just unplug the internal speaker input and plug the wire you just unplugged into the external output , you get about 5 watts instaid of 60 , and if you crank the volume knob , you get a nice creamy natural overdrive !

Plus, if you crank it, you might get more than you can chew...60W tube amp with 4 speakers; I play it at home around 2 and it's plenty: Its knobs go up to 12, I'm not kidding.
@invictorium i actually had a mix up with GC where they sent me a 212 on accident instead of the 410. i played the 212 for a week until i could make the trip back down to GC to exchange it. i must say im regretting the exchange. dont get me wrong, the 410 is an amazing amp with very thick and warm tones. my only regret is the 410 is ridiculously loud. the 212 was plenty loud and would be the amp i would get if i could do it over again.both great amps just know the 41o is on roids lol. good luck
@invictorium depends on how loud you wanna go. 212 means you have two 12 inch speakers. 410 means you have four 10 inch speakers. the 410 is the louder of the two. But unless you're playing somewhere bigger than a club or a bar, you wont need anything louder than the 212. i own the 410 just because i wanted something that could get some real volume, ironically though, thats the only thing i dont like about it. if you live in an apartment, i'd recommend something else for practicing.
can someone tell me the difference between the series III hot rod deville and the hot rod deville? as far as i am able to discern from some of the sources i've checked, the series three is $100 more, and possibly has a different tube complement. i can't figure this out. anyone else know? thanks!
@davedono Basically the only difference is that they tried to tighten up the overdrive because the older one was notorious for being a loose, terrible sounding fuzz. Didn't sound good at all. What People DON'T know, however, is that you can do this yourself VERY easily. Different tubes have different distortion ratings. The distortion rating on the stock Groove Tubes is LOW. Replace the first two with TungSol 12ax7's and leave the GT in the 3rd space. You'll be very happy with it.
Why are you using a Shure SM58 to Mic this cab? No wonder it sounds like crap. I have played on the Deville and it sounds great. These idiots just don't know how to mic a cab. If you buy this amp buy a Sennheiser e906 as well. With the presence filter you can really get some smooth sounds out of this otherwise overly bright amp.
I used to have this amp. I sold it. It didn't quite cut it for me. I guess I prefer the in your face British/Marshall sound. It also crapped out on me a few times. I dug the reverb though, really wet. I guess its genuine Fender Spring. Maybe I'll get the Boss Fender Spring to compensate for it.
@rwbrdms1 In a combo you don't add speaker wattages together to get a total wattage, but you do with just a speaker cabinet. For instance Marshall 1960's are 300 watts because they run 4 G12 T75's which are 75 watt speakers. and marshall 1936's are 150 watts because they only have two.

Oh man. I'm impressed. Such a warm tone. I was considering purchasing a Marshal but from all the demos I've seen this is the best. It brings the bes out of Fender guitars.
Have malfunctioning Deville 410.. after turning it way up (to 8) the sound is quiet and a weird distorted tone even on clean channel. confirmed not power tubes (replaced with new) and not speakers as identical problem when connected exclusively to a seperate speaker cabinet. something like a capacitor maybe? but no visible signs on the components or their solder joints.
I know if I take it in theyll charge me $200 (the bastards) its barely worth $400 (10 yrs old) any suggestions welcome

@jfelix94 The problem with a tree growing in the studio is that when your recording, you can almost hear the sounds of the tree growing..... which in fact can distract the musicians.... very bad decision..... :(
Nice demo & nice licks dude. I'll be getting one of these bad boys in a few weeks, but I'm going to switch out a few tubes to try to get more of a metal distortion. I want to retain that (in my opinion) perfect creamy clean tone, but it also needs to shred :D
@LBDarnocCZ Here are some things to consider, the first being is that I find both amps a little pricey for the quality because of the names associated with them. The most known difference between Fender/Marshall is that Fender kills the clean tones, but sounds pretty bad for distorted while marshall is the exact opposite. Personally for what I do I would rather play a fender and use effects for distortion. Have you ever checked out Traynor amps?
I disagree. The overdrive leaves something to be desired, but it's a sweet vintage tone. Slap on a TS808 or a clone (I have a BBE Green Screamer--pretty sick) and you've got some legit sustain.
Now about this World Music Supply fool...I hate to talk shit on him even more but it's too easy. i don't know why I go back to these videos, he makes everything sound so bad. Or maybe that's the awkward breathing and spit-swallowing noises....
trust me it's gotta be his guitar, cause i have this amp and the overdrive channel is amazing, idk why it sounds soo bad here, mine doesn't sound anything like this
i also have this amp, and i use a fender strat 60´s ressiue guitar. as i sayed before the reverb is amazing but the O/D channel don´t match with any of the guitars i´ve tested in it. a strat is my firsthand choice for this amp but for exemple an ibanez also sounds okay in the clean channel

its amazing how people suck at EQing amps. everytime i go the music store they are set the same, 0 bass and midds, 12 treble and over 9000 reverb,GOD!
this is how you do it, set everything to 12 o`clock, then adjust to taste, kill the damn reverb, crank the fuck out of the amp and play like you are fucking someone in the ass

The tone is really bad because the camera they used probably wasn't the best quality. I don't think it had much to do with the rubbing of phallic excrement on the tubes, however awesome that would be.
I don't think this guy knows how to get a good tone from the bridge pickup... He seems to stay on it for two seconds, and then switches immediately to the neck pickup. All of these guitar/amp demo guys are the same... All they know to do is play mindless blues riffs. It's kind of useless unless you want to play blues/rock in your basement...
Of course, it's necessary to repeat the same riff to compare each setting . It's a demonstration of an amp, not a demo of his skills. But I agree it's boring.

@BornNonconformist Couldn't agree more! I love catching these reviews on youtube. You can find one on virtually any guitar, bass, effect, etc. and they're very helpful. Beats trying to plug in at Guitar Center and evaluating equipment while one of these same whiners are riffing away at volume 11.
You're right , this attitude is all over any demos on youtube though, people should realise this is an amp demo, he's showing the amps features, not showing off his guitar skills. Playing the same riff is useful to hear the change as he adjusts the settings.
I love blues and rock but every amp/guitar bloody demo is the same: Blues licks played badly. What if you want an indie sound? What if you'd like do actually do something melodic??
couldn't agree more....and he does this demo with fender american dlx which has more than 5 pickup combinations and he constantly switches the push-push on the volume knob, rolls off his tone so that amp could sound darker....OMG!!!!

Nice demo & nice licks dude. I'll be getting one of these bad boys in a few weeks, but I'm going to switch out a few tubes to try to get more of a metal distortion. I want to retain that (in my opinion) perfect creamy clean tone, but it also needs to shred :D

@LBDarnocCZ Here are some things to consider, the first being is that I find both amps a little pricey for the quality because of the names associated with them. The most known difference between Fender/Marshall is that Fender kills the clean tones, but sounds pretty bad for distorted while marshall is the exact opposite. Personally for what I do I would rather play a fender and use effects for distortion. Have you ever checked out Traynor amps?

I disagree. The overdrive leaves something to be desired, but it's a sweet vintage tone. Slap on a TS808 or a clone (I have a BBE Green Screamer--pretty sick) and you've got some legit sustain.
Now about this World Music Supply fool...I hate to talk shit on him even more but it's too easy. i don't know why I go back to these videos, he makes everything sound so bad. Or maybe that's the awkward breathing and spit-swallowing noises....

i also have this amp, and i use a fender strat 60´s ressiue guitar. as i sayed before the reverb is amazing but the O/D channel don´t match with any of the guitars i´ve tested in it. a strat is my firsthand choice for this amp but for exemple an ibanez also sounds okay in the clean channel

its amazing how people suck at EQing amps. everytime i go the music store they are set the same, 0 bass and midds, 12 treble and over 9000 reverb,GOD!
this is how you do it, set everything to 12 o`clock, then adjust to taste, kill the damn reverb, crank the fuck out of the amp and play like you are fucking someone in the ass

The tone is really bad because the camera they used probably wasn't the best quality. I don't think it had much to do with the rubbing of phallic excrement on the tubes, however awesome that would be.

I don't think this guy knows how to get a good tone from the bridge pickup... He seems to stay on it for two seconds, and then switches immediately to the neck pickup. All of these guitar/amp demo guys are the same... All they know to do is play mindless blues riffs. It's kind of useless unless you want to play blues/rock in your basement...

@BornNonconformist Couldn't agree more! I love catching these reviews on youtube. You can find one on virtually any guitar, bass, effect, etc. and they're very helpful. Beats trying to plug in at Guitar Center and evaluating equipment while one of these same whiners are riffing away at volume 11.

You're right , this attitude is all over any demos on youtube though, people should realise this is an amp demo, he's showing the amps features, not showing off his guitar skills. Playing the same riff is useful to hear the change as he adjusts the settings.

couldn't agree more....and he does this demo with fender american dlx which has more than 5 pickup combinations and he constantly switches the push-push on the volume knob, rolls off his tone so that amp could sound darker....OMG!!!!
