Certainly not the conscripts in the army, but the Argentine special forces and regular troops were pretty tough. Their airforce and navy pilots had big, swinging steel balls as far as I'm concerned - flying 300 miles from your base, over some of the nastiest, coldest water on the planet to conduct incredible high-speed, low-level attacks against well-armed ships is not for sissies...
..politics aside, I take my hat off to the Argentines' bravery. And it's not really fair to say their equipment was as good as ours overall - they didn't have many modern ships or modern weapons for their aircraft.
Politically, I feel the Islanders are the only ones who can decide what happens to the Falklands, and Galtieri's regime was awful. I still respect and salute the bravery of the Argentine fighting men as much as I respect our own troops.

The British navy was more modern than the argentine navy (which ran away to port) but was designed to fight under US carrier protection so was extremely vulnerable.
The Argentine army had bought weapons and equipment from all over the world before the invasion - and these items were better than the British .
I'm well aware of the military differences between the two sides, possibly more so than you if you think the SHARS were at much of a disadvantage by being subsonic when fighting an enemy faced with 600nm+ transits to and from their home bases.
I'd be interested to know the Army equipment the Argentines had that was so much better than the British.
..but to reiterate my main point - the Task Force was an incredible achievement, and every man or woman in or involved with it has my gratitude and admiration. But let's not make out the Argentines were somehow inferior as a people. Tactically they made some mistakes, lucky for us!, but the courage and professionalism of at least their pilots is to be admired. As is that of our own, heavily outnumbered, pilots (and anyone who wasn't a pilot too)

The argentines had more and better equipment including better boots, night sights, guns, helicopters etc. And the British had to walk 50 miles with all kit before battle.
The argentines didn’t perform well but they weren’t inferior people - they were inferior soldiers.

Well on another video, I spoke to a crew member who was on the Invincible in 1982. He said that this was alleged to have happened on the same day that the Atlantic Conveyor went down. AR made a sound tactical decision there from an AR point of view. He said later that day an exocet was fired at the Invincible, but was shot down with one of 6 sea darts fired that day, she wasn't hit. I know people who saw her sail into Portsmouth & there was no damage. Sorry my Spanish isn't good enough for this

My young brother was a comissioned officer in the Engineers and it was he that drew me to the fact that FAA anylists HAD gleaned results from the video coverage. Their airforce and navy pilots had big, swinging steel balls as far as I'm concerned - flying 300 miles from your base, over some of the nastiest, coldest water on the planet to conduct incredible high-speed, low-level attacks against well-armed ships is not for sissies...

..politics aside, I take my hat off to the Argentines' bravery. And it's not really fair to say their equipment was as good as ours overall - they didn't have many modern ships or modern weapons for their aircraft.
Politically, I feel the Islanders are the only ones who can decide what happens to the Falklands, and Galtieri's regime was awful. I still respect and salute the bravery of the Argentine fighting men as much as I respect our own troops.

A few subsonic British seaplanes flew from 2 tiny carriers scrambled within 48 hours to sail 8000 miles to face the entire argentine airforce flying from their home bases
The British navy was more modern than the argentine navy (which ran away to port) but was designed to fight under US carrier protection so was extremely vulnerable.
The Argentine army had bought weapons and equipment from all over the world before the invasion - and these items were better than the British .

..but to reiterate my main point - the Task Force was an incredible achievement, and every man or woman in or involved with it has my gratitude and admiration. But let's not make out the Argentines were somehow inferior as a people. Tactically they made some mistakes, lucky for us!, but the courage and professionalism of at least their pilots is to be admired. As is that of our own, heavily outnumbered, pilots (and anyone who wasn't a pilot too)

Well on another video, I spoke to a crew member who was on the Invincible in 1982. He said that this was alleged to have happened on the same day that the Atlantic Conveyor went down. AR made a sound tactical decision there from an AR point of view. He said later that day an exocet was fired at the Invincible, but was shot down with one of 6 sea darts fired that day, she wasn't hit. I know people who saw her sail into Portsmouth & there was no damage. Sorry my Spanish isn't good enough for this

My young brother was a comissioned officer in the Engineers and it was he that drew me to the fact that FAA anylists HAD gleaned results from the video coverage. Not to do so would have been very stupid. The best thing for any comander is to keep the enemy guessing and because of the BBC, Woodward was not able to.

The pilots of Zonda 3 & 4 1st Lt Ureta & Ens Isaacs claimed to have witnessed the damage to Invincible and followed up with their own successful attacks. So where are the flight camera pictures that each aircraft carries and can be produced for EVERY attack on all ships except.....the Invincible? "Fog of war" I think

Like I said, this is nothing to do with race but culture. I gave examples of Germany and like you say Japan having been in a far worse situation than Latin America, eventualy rose to great hights.

@BR177 2) The economies of Germany Japan and the rest of Europe are manufacturing and business based. In the Streets of BA, you'll find cars from all these countries but where are the goods from Argentina? GDR had a totalitarian communist regime imposed upon them by the USSR that restricted their developement. Stalin dismantled the GDR. After WW1 they had economic reparations imposed upon them by the treaty of Versailles that smothered her economy. But when allowed free range, they prospered.

@likeitout that is not true, simply not true... In fact... you are son ignorant that I am regreting the point were I started this chatting.... Argentina has factories and Industires like Mercedes Benz factories or British Petroleum and a very large list of companies exploiting our resources and paying 3rd grade salaries.
and lastly, yes it was a conspiracy.. 7 exocet missiles against an infinite supply of sidewinders and everything you could imagine of....

@BR177 1) I didn't mean to offend and to say what I said has some truth, but maybe not the best way to sayt. I'll try and address each of what you said. Argentina didn't recieve alot of resupply from France,USA etc because they didn't agree with the invasion not because of a conspiracy. Yes Argentina has industry and there is low pay. China pays even lower wages but its economy its about to take over the world and its peoples standard of living is rising each year. Im talking about CULTURE.
