Is this a structure fire response, or a training exercise? If it's an emergency response they should be dismissed from the fire department and have a criminal investigation opened for adding to the fire. If it's training, they should also be dismissed for creating unsafe conditions. Pretty much every live training burn code requires high fuel loads to be removed from structures, and that is clearly not the case here.
One of the problems with the fire service today is the people who join a department to play firefighter. Someone lacking the common sense, not to mention any training what so ever (obviously) should not be aloud near a fireground, let alone given the responsibility of a firefighter. Train like the real deal boys and girls. PPE gives us very limited protection from direct flame contact. He walked into that standing upright with no line. Shame on this department and its training program
Like it's always said, those with no respect for the fire, should not be firemen. In this line of duty, having respect for the beast is essential, training or not. With no respect, injuries/death is inevitable.
people tend to call any flame coming out of a doorway or a window a fuck n flashover! man! thats not a flashover, a real flash over is quick & with force ( not explosion). certain materials ( like pillows ! ) burn quickly. its not the build up of gases that combusted, just pillows & shit by the doorway.
He's a salty mo-fo. He saw Kurt Russell do it in the movie Backdraft. I guess he wanted to give it a shot. Next time, you gotta do it with your coat OPEN!
Believe it or not I know some guys who would do similar things to give their turnout gear that "used" look if they were issued new stuff, just so they wouldn't look like some noob in the dept. when on scene.
@thebakerman1 A true noob in the department would be someone who need to blacken up their turnout gear to not look like a noob. Un-f*ckin believable man. If they dont wanna look like noobs, tell em to get an office job behind a desk where they belong. shit.
after watching a lot of these videos, i get the idea that some less-experiences people think it's ok to walk through a wall of fire just because you have your gear on. good luck with that. your gear isn't THAT good, moron! It's just an insurance policy. you still need to not be a dumbass.
as a fire fighter myself this guy needs to be suspended or something. you never go in a building without a partner. anything could have happend to this dumb ass. its just surprising to me that after all those hours of classes we take he still didnt learn what is common sense.
I have seen one other video similar to this one, and what this comes down to is showing off. in each video I saw they entered when they very and I mean very clearly should not have, these guys want to be "bad asses" and walk through the fire in fact all he did was ruin his gear and put his life in jeopardy. this is a good video of what not to do.
@engineboss3045 I agree totally, its assholes like this, that make us firefighters look bad. As a truckie I take a lot of criticism. Mostly from people who have no idean why truckies do what we do. But when they see idiots like that, it makes them think truckies are doing the same.
wow it deffiantely flased quick on him but still whats the point of going in that fire its a controlled burn by the looks and just throw the rest of the crap to burn on it when ever y risk u life to burn couch cushion..... as a captain u would have no ass left people like that fire fighter are reasons why superiours hate thiers jobs especially when they have to go tell ur family ur dead because u did something completly uncalled for....
I used to think Firefighters were smart, and now I'm not so sure. I'm not talking about the guy walking into the fire in this video either, even though that doesn't appear to be too bright. I'm talking about the language used by all of the foul mouthed people on here who seem to love to criticize what they probably don't understand. No wonder our Country is going down the toilet. Just because this is an anonymous posting site doesn't mean you should throw civility out the window.
our country is going down the toilet because of firefighters? Great logic there pal. Maybe firefighters aren't rocket scientists, but we see and deal with stuff everyday that would give you nightmares. You should be thanking us for not having to see the stuff we do. You try and make a totally logical decision with a building on fire nearby, it's harder than it looks. You're the reason America sucks now.
You have proved my point in yet another way. I specifically stated why I thought Firefighters weren't so bright, but you failed to even address what I wrote. Instead you attack me for stating the truth. I challenge to you go and read the comments on several Firefighting Videos and tell me that Firefighters or Wannabes don't enjoy using profanity and vulgarity on each other. One last thing, never said I didn't know anything about Firefighting, been doing the job longer than you've been alive.
No it appears you dont understand what I was saying when I wrote that. Cussing has absolutely nothing to do with intellect. Thats like trying to say that wearing red clothing means your a psychopath.
All I can say is that you definitely have a reading comprehension problem. I never said they weren't intelligent, I said "I used to think Firefighters were smart" and "I specifically stated why I thought Firefighters weren't so bright" Profanity laced tirades on anonymous comments sections of YT does not make for good PR and does not shine a good light on the Fire Service. A person that uses profanity so easily in my opinion is not smart if even they are "intelligent"
Smart kinda means the same thing as intelligent. Not everyone has your rules on what it means to be polite and not everyone sees cuss words as anything but words.
And not everyone has your rules either. That is why I made my original post. Unfortunately it appears, at least on YT, people act more like your rules.
"Profanity is the feeble attempt of a weak mind to express itself forcefully." I doubt seriously that many of those on YT who use vulgarity in their writings would do so if they were face to face with those they are directing their comments to. It's way easier (and cowardly) when you are hiding behind the anonymity of the internet.
Rich, it's a training video. And unfortunately a lot of "instructors" or FF's assisting in the training burn love the opportunity to bubble their stickers ya know? So many training burn "blisters" later turn into great stories of bravado. This is as hot as it gets for many who are not RIT. Anyway, not that it makes it better, but this was a casual setting and the guy was just trying to make it more intimidating for the train. This is egg on his face, and I'll bet the recruits shook their heads
this is a classic example of FREELANCING.. yeah he went in and shouldn't have at least in that door, but look at how many other FF just let him. where's the OIC? I wonder what He was trying to prove.
I'm a future FF in training and all I can say is that if I saw a fellow FF do something this stupid, I wouldn't be going in after him. He would have gotten steamed really good and then I would have went in. Am I wrong in thinking this way???
Yeah, you almost never leave your fellow FFs inside a burning building no matter how stupid their mistakes were. The only time you shouldn't go in is when the chance either you saving him or you getting out alive is extremely slim, but otherwise, never leave a man behind.
well, that is a poor attitude... but whats worse, is that dude just put his partner at risk for nothing cause if he goes down, guess who's going in after him... 2nd yes you never leave your partner behind, and I didn't see his partner go in with him, and I don't blame him. he shouldn't have went in without him and a good firefighter wouldn't have allowed his partner to do that. so in my opinion, they're both wrong. scene size up is more than just a OIC job. it's EVERYONE'S
If this dude was very smart he should have been able to read the smoke and tell that it was gonna flash. He really needs to go back through basic training.
What an idiot. I would have fired two people that day. The fool throwing cushions on the fire and the "bad boy" who went in without a hand line. I realize that he wanted people to think he was tough and could take the heat but he looked like an idiot. That's not showing how wel you can fight fire but its showing how stupid you are. He must have been a proby.
@leatherhead3 u all r a bunch of morons and must not know anything about firefighting, this was a training fire started by the firefighters, anyone who is a real firefighter would know this just from wacthing this
@ctsfca7 And your point is? If these guys were good firefighters and really knew how to train then they would have treated it just like they would an alarm.
@ctsfca7 And your point is? Nobody is denying that this was a training fire. What I was saying was that they were acting stupid. Anyone who knows about training knows that you must treat it like the real think because it is the real thing. The morons are the ones who are involved in this.
Inexcusable. I don't know if this is a inexperineced firefighter that didn't know better or a veteran who thought he's "been there and done that". Regardless, this poor example reflects poorly on the rest of us and particulary those who conduct regular, realistic and SAFE training burns in acquired structures.
I hope he and the entire chain of command present got a serious earfull.
That said, thanks for posting so we can all learn.
I was gonna say, he/she's in regular bunker gear, not an entre suit like Airport Crash wear & he/she just walks through the flames!? I would hope someone from this department sees this & takes corrective action this never happens ever again.
This is obviously a training session. Can anyone tell me why live burn training excercises in acquired structures haven't been outlawed in every state and country. Even if it isn't outlawed, haven't we learned as firefighters that this is not a safe practice. How many videos like this one do we have to watch to figure it out. Get your departments to go to fire academies where the fire can be controlled. Maybe you'll learn something and everyone can go home safely.
Since they were throwing debris towards the house, it must've been training. Also, if you don't wash your bunker gear, the accumulated particulates can ignite.
this guy is not fit to be a firefighter, he is a hazard. If he does not kill himself someday he may kill sombody else. The chief should really take a good look at this guy
duh dude gear has to have a MINIMUM rating of 1100 degrees for atleast 30 seconds before it degrades(flashover temp) this fire was well over 1000 degrees and the guy is lucky flashover or backdraft didnt occur for the rapid introduction of oxygen
This is exactly how people get killed. This douche intentionally blocked the egress from the house with high fuel objects. Even after things were getting bad you can see stuff flying towards the front door from off camera.
Seriously who walks into a fire even in PPE? He makes the rest of us look unprofessional. How is the public going to feel if they see their local firefighters as a bunch of fools? PPE ain't fire proof, shame it isn't though because that would be really handy.
He throws stuff in the walks in talks forever to get back out and when he does no one pays any attention to him as if he does stupid shit like that all the time.
Random that is fucking funny because i noticed it too. He is like the one they hired because they thought it was entertaining, like on Kung Pow enter the fist when they purposely train that one guy wrong. Fucking funny.
I'm a fire fighter (Lieutenant)and I'm looking at this video thinking, "Who the fuck does this guy think he is". It's guys like these that put their won lives and partners at risk. Fire his ASS...No pun intended.
Let's just start with "walking" in vs. going in low. The laws of therm don't change because you hit the 10-year mark w/ the department, folks. I know y'all love it HOT for training, but use that noggin.
Well I don't think I need to say anything its probably been said in the last 68 responses WTF. Well i guess we have another training video. We as a fire service need to really crack down and enforce the culture of safety and everyone going home. Risks vs. benefit I hope this guy is working at taco bell now knuckle head!
Some of our worst examples are the training officers who think they need to act tougher than the brothers & sisters they are there to train. It's the ego getting in the way. And the Chief's wonder why we keep killing ourselves.
If this a video entered into the "how stupid could I get" competition - this surely wins hands down - I dont know what kind OiC or chief would allow someone so damn stupid to do something like that to be on their crew, let alone do something as dangerous as that in their presence - remember PPE stands for "personal protective equipment" - it doesnt make you invincible... maybe for the likes of this idiot this should be printed on all turnout gear to let them know...?
id be like where u going? that room is gonna be fully involved in 3 seconds and umm stay down dont stand up dumbass and grab a hoseline incase u get lost lol geez cmon guys smarten up
What does he care? His helmet looks cool now right? I guess it beats baking it in the oven at home so you think your cool. Seriously though. I'm speechless. Thankfully I have these videos for "What no to do" training
Is the person at the very beginning throwing cushions IN to the fire?! Why did the second FF walk into the structure without a hoseline? WTF?! Where's the safety officer?
Well all i can say is that guy has no business doing stupid stuff like that!! I'm beside myself with just frustration over the plain fact this moron thinks he is above the laws of physics when it comes to self preservation. He'll sadly some day become a statistic if he keeps up with that matter of fact sunday barbeque and eveythings gonna be alright attitude!!
Excuse me? WTF, why would ANYONE do something so completely stupid? Even if somehow you can walk away with no injuries, you have just ruined a set of bunker gear that costs about 1,200 dollars!!
ok first of all yes all of us FFers know this is beyond stupid, but what really gets me is the reaction...or lack there of is more accurate from everybody else, the guy with the camera says nothing and nobody even flinched when he walked out???!! WTF!
I would love to see the explination on his request for new ppe ....err i was having a Homer Simpson moment DOH!. IDIOT! and the training officer should have his rank stripped.
the reason why they didnt cool him down is he desevied it i mean damn if your that fuckin stupid to walk into a house with flames pourin out of it your a dumbass...
If you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem. Think, act and stand up for our safety! IF YOU AREN"T PART OF THE SOLUTION, YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM.
umm wow, what a retard, walks into a burning building with out any water with him...the funny thing what that he went in brown and came out black and smoking. But really FFers think before you act. Hope he is not on the Truck for a while after that stunt. DUMBASS. Save lives don't be the one being saved THINK BEFORE you act.
That was just a good example of another moron trying to burn off his shield and melt his bourkes. Perfect example of bad publicity the fire service does not need.
Why? Probably because having gear that's dirty, grimy, and ready to fall apart makes you "a real firefighter." Clean, well cared-for equipment makes you "a safety sissy."
how the f..k does the training officers let this happen?? and why was he at a live burn before he was taught when and how to enter a fire....did he forget 2 in 2 out
this is not a mishap this is just plain stupidity the gear is not fireproof and who is command at this scene whoever it is stand down and turn your gear
Are you kidding?!? What the hell does he think he is a "firewalker"And F19882 no not all of us US FF's are like him.It will be a cold day in hell,I let a dumb ass CAPT. BC,or Chief get me killed. To many of them in the fire service.
Is this a structure fire response, or a training exercise? Wow what was his plan? Watched Backdraft a few too many times lol

Stupid firefighter tricks. Then they turn the pipe on him. Good way to steam him like a clam. WHACKERS!

wow. first you pile shit infront of the door. then you walk in there. wtf. that guy should have been suspended or kicked off
bombero89 4 years ago
Hey guys, its a little hot in there. Ya better be careful there bubba...WHAT A BUNCH OF DUMB ASSES!!! this is exactly why we have LODD's!
231productions 4 years ago
Seriously who walks into a fire even in PPE? He makes the rest of us look unprofessional. How is the public going to feel if they see their local firefighters as a bunch of fools? PPE ain't fire proof, shame it isn't though because that would be really handy.
Mbalto 4 years ago
What a nober!... That PPE will no doubt need condeming now.
DIZZYskin 4 years ago
I hate watching fellow firefighters making poor decisions like that...glad he wasnt another statistic LODD.
bresq343 4 years ago
Isnt that like the 1st thing you learn in FF1? If you have a hoseline you DONT walk past the fire? Idiot.
ccfd4613 4 years ago 2
All this guy wanted to do is get his turn-outs dirty! Real bravery shown there.
jstuckey22 4 years ago 2
How can someone be so stupid, especially a professional firefighter ?What an absolute plank.

Random1765 4 years ago
I misspelled some stuff sorry wasn't paying attention.
Random1765 4 years ago
Random that is fucking funny because i noticed it too. He is like the one they hired because they thought it was entertaining, like on Kung Pow enter the fist when they purposely train that one guy wrong. Fucking funny.
YOUARETHATYOUARE 4 years ago
I'm a fire fighter (Lieutenant)and I'm looking at this video thinking, "Who the fuck does this guy think he is". It's guys like these that put their won lives and partners at risk. Fire his ASS...No pun intended.
Deadeye2020 4 years ago
Let's just start with "walking" in vs. going in low. The laws of therm don't change because you hit the 10-year mark w/ the department, folks. I know y'all love it HOT for training, but use that noggin.
Anon4this1 4 years ago
I've seen some stupid stuff in my time, but he's really pushed the boat out with this one! And he took his sweet time getting back out as well! :S
Noodle999 4 years ago
Yeah, let's all walk into a flame engulfed doorway adn throw some more stuff into the fire... pretty smart

Hmmm perhaps a quick review of the NFPA regulations regarding live training fires (among other things) is in order....

WTF is he a effin dumbass?!?! And then everyone around just walks around like theres nothing worng. The whole department is f***ing retarded.
Blarue723 4 years ago
Well I don't think I need to say anything its probably been said in the last 68 responses WTF. Well i guess we have another training video. We as a fire service need to really crack down and enforce the culture of safety and everyone going home. Risks vs. benefit I hope this guy is working at taco bell now knuckle head!
snyderdu23 4 years ago
Brilliant! Keep up the stupidity so I can move up in seniority! I bet he's a B.C. by now!

What A DUMBASS ive done some stupid shit before but nutin like this.
WagonDriver58 4 years ago
Some of our worst examples are the training officers who think they need to act tougher than the brothers & sisters they are there to train. It's the ego getting in the way. And the Chief's wonder why we keep killing ourselves.
allsteer40 4 years ago
If this a video entered into the "how stupid could I get" competition - this surely wins hands down - I dont know what kind OiC or chief would allow someone so damn stupid to do something like that to be on their crew, let alone do something as dangerous as that in their presence - remember PPE stands for "personal protective equipment" - it doesnt make you invincible... maybe for the likes of this idiot this should be printed on all turnout gear to let them know...?

Is the person at the very beginning throwing cushions IN to the fire?! Why did the second FF walk into the structure without a hoseline? WTF?! Where's the safety officer?
HermitousZen 4 years ago
I would have kicked him out of the fire company right then and there
dltforce146 4 years ago
Why would he enter without a hose!?

Well all i can say is that guy has no business doing stupid stuff like that!! I'm beside myself with just frustration over the plain fact this moron thinks he is above the laws of physics when it comes to self preservation. He'll sadly some day become a statistic if he keeps up with that matter of fact sunday barbeque and eveythings gonna be alright attitude!!

ok first of all yes all of us FFers know this is beyond stupid, but what really gets me is the reaction...or lack there of is more accurate from everybody else, the guy with the camera says nothing and nobody even flinched when he walked out???!! WTF!

umm wow, what a retard, walks into a burning building with out any water with him...the funny thing what that he went in brown and came out black and smoking. But really FFers think before you act. Hope he is not on the Truck for a while after that stunt. DUMBASS. Save lives don't be the one being saved THINK BEFORE you act.

Why does he go into the house??
He doesn't have cover of water, he goes in alone !!
I'm an firefighter trainee in the Netherlands. We go into burning homes but never like this!
I guess to much confidence is deadly.
Another strange thing is that when he leaves the burning house he isn't cooled down by other firefighters.
klandertje 5 years ago
Another Idiot. Must be related to the moron in the training house explosion video.
8151 5 years ago
That was just a good example of another moron trying to burn off his shield and melt his bourkes. Perfect example of bad publicity the fire service does not need.
Dougw133 5 years ago
Why? Probably because having gear that's dirty, grimy, and ready to fall apart makes you "a real firefighter." Clean, well cared-for equipment makes you "a safety sissy."
We are our own worst enemy.
bmac161 5 years ago
how the f..k does the training officers let this happen?? and why was he at a live burn before he was taught when and how to enter a fire....did he forget 2 in 2 out

this is not a mishap this is just plain stupidity the gear is not fireproof and who is command at this scene whoever it is stand down and turn your gear
