you should breed convict cichlids i have some there very good fishes they would move things they don't like and make it there way. one time i bought a couple from a aquarium brought it home put rocks in my tank and a flat rock. they build a hill on top of it with the other little rocks there smart and protective of there little ones.

I'm using gravel (i dont like it), can I replace with with the same type of sand? My parents say my filter would suck it up and jam my filter. And I have cat fish, so sand wouldn't be a good idea, correct?

@AussieBrock there are heaps of different types of sands an rocks you can use on a tank, You can definitely use sand with any filter as long as its not stirring up the sand you'll be fine, and they dont clog that easy.. BUT have you ever thought about gravel/Grit ? catfish will do fine on anything NOT sharp enough to dmg there bristles, if you use fine sand you need to put some wood an rocks in there to though

Hey, I bought some Pool Filter sand from Home depot. Unlike yours, that is white, mine is brownish, the color of sand. The sand is crystal like, but it looks brown? Is this normal? or its just another color. And is it safe?

thats a myth as far as im concerned. fish will still grow larger even in a small environment. i think the whole reason people say that is because they want an excuse to keep their fish in a smaller tank.
