  • why do some marines graduate as private first class?

  • do marines get a good salary?

  • @JuBBz323 - well, that depends on what you consider "good." My son, at this point, gets around $600 twice a month, so about $1200 per month. Considering his sitaution, that he does not pay rent, does not own a car, and has his medical insurance, food, and housing paid for, I suppose it's okay. But pay is determined by rank, job, and years of service. For a "beginner" I suppose it's an okay salary.

  • if family had any doubts of there kid being a Marine i think after watching that movie in the theather they'll change their mind. :)

  • My boyfriend graduates marine corps boot camp june 11th, cant wait=)

  • And here I was being happy that he'll be back in a month...only to hear that he will have to leave again for a much longer period. I should just go hang myself. :(

  • Do not despair. Situations can be different. My son had his 10 days off, they all do. Then they do all go somewhere for MCT, and the length and extent of that depends on the job they signed up for. My son signed up for infantry, to our dismay (EVERY job was open to my son based on his high test scores, but .....). SOI for my son was delayed, so he had 1 month at home, and THEN got to come back for Christmas & New Year's too! When you talk to your guy he'll have his orders already.

  • I saw MCT takes a Month including MOS schooling which is about 6 months though :( And we dont even live in the same state. I was supposed to move in with him after bootcamp. :(

  • He's not at Boy Scouts summer camp. He's in the Marine Corps. You need to get realistic real fast or you're going to have lots of disappointments. And the last thing he needs is someone at home complaining that they're not getting enough of his attention. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but it's the truth. Deal with it or leave him alone. I'm a Marine Corps veteran myself, so I do know what I'm talking about.

  • Lol yeah I know, luckily I was able to stop being a baby and realized what was really important. I'm not complaining anymore because its been my fault from the start. Thank you for saying that though ^^ Semper Fie

  • after the graduation do u just get time to spend wit family then get deployed to go to iraq

  • No You still got more training to do after Boot Camp you go home for a like 10 days then you go to go to "MCT" Marine Combat Training Then to your school for Your MOS

  • The new Marine will not necessarily get deployed to the middle east. My son was telling me that an entire unit at SOI (not his) all got orders to deploy to Hawaii! Only 1/4 of each branch of the armed forces, at least as of right now, will be getting orders for Afghanistan/Iraq/Pakistan, or Yemen. We'll just have to wait and see.

  • @jesusiseverything2me Actually thats not a deployment, thats where they will be stationed, which I can imagine would be an awesome place to be stationed.

  • @ps3man10001 wow....
