@bobuse I did this some time ago, and probably don't have the file any more. It was based on the standard python example that came with mapnik. I simply adjusted it to loop, and save a new frame. Once I had all the frames, I used Imagemagick to add the overlay, and them ffmpeg to join all the frames into a movie file.
@stuphi0 thanx for the explanations. I had the same ideas, but never tried. I'm looking for a easier way and have found Party_render on OSM wiki that use pygame for the animation.
