I was pretty skeptical of the Occupy Movement at first. But after visiting Occupy Oakland a few times, and participating in the citywide General Strike last week, I have a renewed faith in my country again. I say "Well Done!" to folks for taking an active role in trying to change the inequalities which are present in the USA's system of governance. Great job to Rovics, too. You've written some very inspiring lyrics!
Thanks for the great music Mr. Rovics. Would like to hear a song about the Everett Massacre someday. It reflects that story seems to have a lot of parallels with Occupy, "We're all leaders!"
not a fan of democracy, eh, yananark? too bad. if you want to pay 59 cents on each tax dollar to the military and watch the bankers bankrupt our country, you're free to do so, but that's really pathetic if so. we live in a society. society needs to act. individuals can do various things, but only as a society can we change society. this is something you clearly don't understand.
It is very sad to hear people complaining about their own choices and blaming others.... you cant pay your credit cards?.... dont use credit !!! I am sure there is plenty to do in their own communities or neighborhoods instead of occupying other places and making a mess of them...... have some self respect and work instead of crying like a spoiled baby...
loooove the song, David!!! Wow and this occupy movement is so inspiring. I think this might really be the chance to change the world, with so many people all over the world taking part and protesting. We cant go back now. I thought, if the occupy movements in the world formed parties, they could even change politics from inside. You know, from the streets to parliament!
This is magnificent and the lyrics embodies what the movement is all about. You get it my friend you get. Thank you for posting this I'm favoritng this song.
uhhh misguided would be the appropriate title. Why would you be mad about capitalism when we havnt had that for 80 years or more. I believe its corpratism that your looking for. Oddly enough, these people on Wall ST. protesting are the same ones that support the worst of the worst when it comes to corpratism, and by that, I mean Obama. People, your intentions are good but you simply do not have a clue what your doing. Wake up. Your actions are easily predictable, and intended.
@actionmeanschange check out james gibb stuart on his 5 point plan that save Malaysia from the South East Asian implosion of the90s. he has a similar plan to save Ireland.
The demonstrators and this song raise a smattering of important issues, but they are on the wrong track to focus on the financial system unless they're trying to reform it. Maybe we need more board independence, less interlocking directorates and so on, but it sounds like they're just against public equity funding in any form, and maybe you're against debt financing too. I don't get it. I appreciate Rovics putting these songs up for free though. Thank you.
hmmm... The current system is Corporatism, NOT Capitalism. Great song very heartfelt though David! We havent had Capitalism in America since before the first American Depression that preceded the world depression... now we're in the second one because of plutocracy
You've nailed it with these words. Fantastic. This song should be ringing out around the world when the workers, the poor and the oppressed have occupied every financial centre on the globe.
Love it. Please keep up your amazing work!

Im imagining a 1000+ people singing this. The chorus would sound awesome when shouted !!
Also, in some verses, replacing the guitar with some drums may add to the EPICness... (but im no musician, i hope you get better suggestions)
