Your equations are messed up as you have the wrong formulas. Because bismuth and magnesium ions are bivalent, they donate 2 electrons to the chlorides, which can only ACCEPT one - so;

doesn't Al make insoluble AlCl? You would have it mixed into the bismuth precipitate. Mg would make soluble MgCl that can be washed out.

you should be able to get some somewhere germany makes the purest and best chemicals anywhere in my opinion
