Most amazing band EVER! I saw them in concert twice, got their autographs, and a picture with the lead singer... they were funny. They were talking alot about how I was only 14 and 6' 1"... :) These guys ROCK! lol
I saw them at my local radio stations "Bitter Ball" on Valentine's Day. I met Danny and Aimee. They were really nice and dedicated this song my Fiancee and I. BEST VALENTINE'S DAY EVER!!
@mynameislindaa If I'm correct then it's about a boy and a girl who have a relationship from a pretty young age up until the age of around 19 maybe. The boy carves their initials into the tree and gives her his class ring. At one point (age 19 I would say) they get into a fight and break up. It then flashes forward to around the time the man is elderly and he stops by their tree and drops off his class ring. It appears that the two had reconciled and gotten married but I'm guessing she had died.
@bert785 Thanks for the trivia; I knew it was the gorgeous rolling hills and big, open skies of our state. It looks very much like many places up here in and around the San Francisco Bay Area where I live. :-)
I'm going to see you on Sunday and I'm sooooo excited! I couldn't believe it today when your picture was in our paper. I thought I'd never get to one of your gigs and it's only four days away!
This is definitely my favorite band. Rich in sound, pure by nature, and genuine with the soul. You can't hear too many of these kind of groups today. You would hear it more likely in a solo artist but not so much with a band. Awesome!
my new favourite band everyone of these guys songs are so passionate and intimate! you can relate completely to at least one of their song which i find incredible!! :D
@KabbalahWestCoast I do have a heart, its just buried deep within a chest made of cynicism and ribs made of, er.. disenchantment. New years resolution:be more positive! Unfortunately its still 2011 so I got to stick with 'Boooring!' sorry :(
I remember awhile ago I was a camera operator for their live show at my college. I met the band afterwards and they could not be any more of a class act. So polite and caring. Their music is such an inspiration to me.
@diboner21 hahahah right? I also saw them open for Matt Nathanson..I am a big fan of his I have been for about 6 years now,and I went to go see Matt, and they were the first band to preform...and I am kinda regreting not getting there cd... QAQ
@chuckchapman41 yeah i wanted to get the cd and didnt have any money. they're really good and simple. i learned every song they played on guitar when i got home that night ahah
I just love this song so much...I've never seen a single episode of Grey's Anatomy, so I didn't come across Scars on 45 through that....it was just through hearing them host a one hour radio show on Sirius Satellite radio on their Spectrum channel on a Sunday morning a few months ago. They played some of their own songs live, including this one, which I immediately fell in love with, told stories about their first tour across the US, and played some of their favorite musician's songs. Love 'em.
I saw the music video one time a few months ago on TheCoolTV and was captivated the first time I heard it. I still sing it to myself from time to time.
Is it just me or is there a big gap in this video? We see them breaking up, then we see that they're married and she's dead... The ending was confusing.
In the end of the video the old woman was SUPPOSED to be there--but the actor didn't show up for the taping....so the director killed her off... but the song was meant to tell of an everlasting love... Sometimes the director's intepretation of the story does not line up with the artists'. :)
Their new video will be out THIS Thursday--check ABC.com. Their new single "Heart on Fire," is the lead song on Grey's Anatomy's soundtrack for the new season and they produced a video montage of the band and the cast from the show. I'll post a link here when it is up. I am looking forward to it. You can see clips from the making of the video on ABC.com under Grey's....or at E online.
They came to Houston for a private preformance at Warehouse Live and played amazing! After Aimee finished the set she said, "We're a huggy band" so my friends and I felt comfortable walking up to them and getting pics and autographs. It was a blast! I wish them tons of success, this is only the beginning:) - L. Therese R.
@schu740guy Judging from the 2 pictures lieing atop the roots of their relationship-tree... I'm afraid to deduce the opposite, unless the world stopped taking pictures from her from her teen years and then suddently took another in her senior days before she passed away... Eitherway, that old man don't seem to regret none
Yes, this is an English band from Bradford/Leeds, UK - they are presently touring the US and are fantastic live and in person. They have new single on Grey's Anatomy's new season soundtrack - Heart on Fire. Brilliant.
According to the lead singer, Danny Bemrose, the video was meant to have an old woman at the end--returning to meet the old fella...but she didn't show up for the filming so they had to kill her off.
@3greviews@SirHegemon Maybe they are not sure either! I just really like thinking and talking about it. I find the song so engaging that I am drawn in every time. It has such a beautiful melody and it move along in such a crisp manner. Just super song writing and performance. This song does get some airplay in the far reaches of the northern US where I live. I think it might do well with wider exposure. One can hear on the "alt" station now.
They play this song in Seattle, on 103.7 the Mountain! I LOVE this song. I had no idea who sung it, so I just Googled the lyrics. LOVE LOVE LOVE this song! Harmonies are wonderful.
Maybe I am dense but I am not following the narrative of the story. What does it end up to be? are they together or apart? I think the song has drawn me to caring about the story and what it means.
@japinvt I've thought about it...I don't think they end up together. Cause the teenage guy carves in "Job" in the tree, (his name?) if it is, on the letter at 2:58 says "to my wife - John" so presumably, the girl ended up together with somebody named John, and Job came back to the tree after she died?
@3greviews So I just watched the video keeping in mind your comments. There is a scene where the guy seems to demand his class ring back from the girl and that appears to end their relationship. Then it must be Job who returns years later after she has died. I get kind of a feeling of wounded pride in the guy that he now-many years later-regrets and maybe knows that whatever she did it was nothing in the big picture. I think that I am really into this song!
@japinvt I actually saw it as the girl dumping the guy. He doesn't seem like he's demanding something, but seems desperate. I think the ring is a promise ring (aka pre-engagement ring) that she got from him during high school, but now that they're out of infatuation, she dumps him, and Job never won her back? Yup, I'm addicted to this song too!!
@3greviews You know, that makes a lot of sense. I was tuned out of her signals and was misreading his. Oh yes, and promise rings; how could I forget? It's funny how I had almost like certain preconceived notions about the boy and girl and in a way sort of switched one for the other in their respective roles in the little drama. I am glad I asked about the story. It is fun to discuss it!
@zarbak2 Good question... I tried to figure that out as well. Part of me thinks yes... but part of me thinks no. The reason I think maybe no, is because at the end when John comes back to the tree alone, he gives her back the ring by placing it at the tree. ..
@zarbak2 Yeah.. she has obviously past... Some clues definitely point to them having re-found each other... but there are some clues that says they went their own ways. Tough call! I'm going to go with them having found each other again later in life, and marrying.
If the people will listen in big numbers to this song and others like it in this style of music it will not be gone or reduced to cult status. Yes, she would be a perfect Katniss!

I enjoy this song from a composition standpoint (the lyrics aren't so hot, but that aside...). In fact, I enjoy it from a musical standpoint. But his voice really, really messes this up.
It's the same old, cookie-cutter whiny singing that virtually every female listener enjoys. Had he sung this (or a different singer sung this) differently, I would have really enjoyed it.
This is now my prototype example of how a voice can make or break a song.
@mwtillotson We kind of live in an era of that unfortunately, go back to the 20s and most people sounded like cookie cutter torch singers and radio stars. It's the same thing from every era, although kudos to those that manage to break the mold. I have a voice that is not conventionally anything, pop, jazz, Broadway, or RnB, and quite frankly I don't know what to do with it or what to sing.
Saw you guys at the Crystal Ballroom 2-22-12, amazing!

Give me something...something to kill myself.
Lyrics aren't half bad, but the song is alright.

I'm confused...so they get together, they break up, and then what? Did they get married or is that old guy a creeper?
