When I first got the pedal, I had a few gigs on upright bass, so I thought I've got nothing to lose by just hooking up the wah to see how it goes. And I was pleasantly surprised :)
thanks to your videos, i am quickly learning bass and i love it so much. How often do you change you bass strings because I had mine for a year now and I practice twice a day.
You're welcome. It is a great love you have there.
Changing bass strings can depend on a few things:
1. Do you want or need a bright new sound?
2. Are the harmonics starting to sound out of tune?
3. Are the strings rusty?
Generally I change my strings about once a year. There are also other factors such as touring and studio sessions that may involve more frequent string replacement.
you dont really need to change bass strings that often compared to guitar. bass strings last usually longer..alot longer. and due to the fact that they are about 20/30 bucks for a good pack. changing them once a year is pretty good
My upright has an Underwood transducer installed in the bridge wings, and the input is a connection I made to sit between the bridge and the tailpiece.
forgot the name of the song you're playing from 2:24 on... also I guess your surname should be pronounced differently (if your ancestors are from Poland)
just thought i'd mention that i got one from the place george left the link to-blackhawk. it only took about 2 weeks max to get from england to australia, delivered to the door, and it's fantastic!
An update: I have tested another two bass wahs recently and found them nowhere near as good as the G-LAB.
I won't mention brand names. And the list of "omissions" in the tested wahs is surprisingly long, especially now that I know what the features and benefits of the G-LABs are.
(BTW: I am not getting paid by G-LAB and have no endorsement deal with them.)
wow (wee) that's bent. love it. can't say i've ever heard an upright sound like that. sounds great on the fender too. very nice, george. thanks for gadget intro. might have to look one up. :)
the sound you get in 8:35 sounds like there is a distortion pedal plugged in but its just the wha pedal.. thats so cool! :D i like this pedal alot according to this review.
the price is alot less than i had figured i did'nt see where you had listed it my bad thank you sir !!

I'm sorry, but you really suck on the electric bass. You're aren't worth this amazing wah pedal.

Thank you. We are only limited by our imagination and (lack of) willingness to experiment.
Bass of luck!

I have a question, will this pedal work with American power? And is there a website where I can buy this and have it shipped to America?
RyanDyerMusic 2 years ago
American power is fine because it uses a regulated adapter.
You can order (and talk to Ben about the power) via the link in the info box, top right.
I'm still loving this pedal :) :)

where was the input on your upright bass, was it like an electric acoustic pick-up?

It sounded like the petal Bootsy Collins uses!!

Yes, I thought that sometimes too. I also own the Mutron, the auto-wah that Bootsy uses, but I am liking the G-Lab more right now.

woah that bowing on the double bass is awesome
MrRCPresident 2 years ago
Thanks. Bowing in a non-classical setting often turns heads - even more so with a wah.

It is Sunshine of Your Love by Cream.
Although I know the correct pronunciation, I generally australianize the pronunciation of my surname.

do u ever use distortion and/or fuzz on the bass? cos im thinking about using it and am currently getting a wah pedal
Geordieboy1990 2 years ago
Hello Tom
Yes, I do use distortion/fuzz occasionally. This is usually to get a synth bass sound.

I'm looking for buying a bass wah, I've already tried a dunlop a long time ago.
This GLab wah seems to be really great...
My local store doesn't have that kind of stuff, if I want one, I'll have to order it on the internet.
I'm wondering if you have already tried other wahs to compare with, and if yes, does the basic tone of the wowee is better or not ?
Thanks for making me discover this pedal, this is the smartest and more detailed review ever !
five stars !!
Cheers from france.
Beamboomer 2 years ago
Currently the G-LAB is only available over the net. I experienced reliable and fast shipping.
I have tried several wahs in the past, but I will update my trials over the next week or two to refresh my memory.
I also own a Boss GT-GB bass effects processor with a wah included and a Mutron III+ (where the "true" bypass is not true).
Thanks for your comments :)

i would like to know where to buy this pedal or does it only sell in australia?
lee2563 2 years ago
I had it sent from the UK from black hawk music. co. uk (omit the spaces in this URL).
I'll get Ben Hawker of Black Hawk Music to give me an "Order Page" link to add to my info box.
I believe that currently "mail order" is the best way of getting the bass wah.

I have not heard that sound on the upright either. I must put it on record at the next opportunity.

I worked out and learned the whole guitar part - solo and all - prior to my switch to bass playing, ca. 1967-68.
Last week I did a 60's show and that was one of the songs we played.
Thanks for posting the first comment about this video.
