  • Who can say: Do you know that batman has a NES game? And it was very good? And it has a great soundtrack?

  • "You can even make Batman dance to the music!"

  • Joker:"OH do the bat dance!"

  • It's funny how most people are in here because of AVGN. Don't get me wrong, that episode of AVGN with Batman and Joker was Hilarious but is that the only reason why most of you guys are watching this video.

  • @Brownpride480 I'm here because of 0:15

  • That DPCM slap bass

  • Thumbs up if you do the bat dance when you hear this song

  • AVGN: That's not fair!

    Joker: Boo-hoo! It's SO unfair!

    Kick ass music.

  • Come on you motherfucker! DAMN!!

  • sounds so much better than the genesis version its not even funny...

  • @DJackson747 That's because the Sega Genesis and the SNES versions were NOT made by Sun Corporation of Japan (the real Sunsoft). Sunsoft of America hired a NON- JAPANESE developer to do the SNES and Genesis versions of this game and that company was called ICOM Simulations, Inc. That is why I have never been much of a fan of Sunsoft's American division because they hardly even wanted to hire the Japanese division of Sunsoft in Japan to do their games.

  • DO THE BATDANCE

  • *Melody begins, smiles like the Joker*

  • sunsoft is so beast at composing soundtracks !

  • Am I the only one who wants to sing "Big man, pig man!" when hearing this?

  • i know many people already said it but joker takes good care of his teeth

  • bhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • 2 people didn't do the batdance right.

  • Comment removed

  • And yet people will still always remember the super mario bros. theme over this. It's almost sad.

  • @DocterEggman I agree. It is NO WONDER why I am not a fan of Nintendo and their own games (Except Metroid). But the Japanese made 3rd party games on the NES (such as this game) are the only ones I like.

  • I like this music more than SNES version

  • This sounds so fitting for a mega man game.

  • Kwing reviews theme when he first started.

  • fuck yeahh its castelcontrabatman i like this game so bad BAD ASS INDEED

  • lyrics too stage 1... The joker is back, and he wants to kill bat-man, the joker is back wiiiiith a raging ven-gence The joker is back to masqueraid batman he wants to crush the batmobile liiiike a tin can.. BATMAN! BATMAN! BATMAN! BATMAN OOOH! BATMAN! BATMAN! BATMAN! BATMAN! Its the bat-man-for-realz! Batman was up upon a tall builllding watching and prote-e-e-c-ting over the ci-i-i-ty
  • THe first batman is so hard but satisfying... This game go WAY beyond hard. I can't just play it. and i play the first one in two continues as much,,, This game is not bad.... IS TOO HARD, and sometimes unplayable. is not like the first and even not like CVania 3 on hardiness... You can die in the exactly same hazard even knowing how to beat it.

  • AAAHHH... that's better. Had this tune stuck in my head all day. This is hands-down one of my favorite 8-bit video game songs of all time. It's right up there with the theme to Mega Man 3.

...may we never forget the golden age...

  • Hey if Batman wants to say "F**k it. I'm not gonna wall jump and use my Jujitsu skills, I'm just going to use my Bat-Gun and shoot everything" That's not lame its just he's just tired of fighting the same guy over and over.

  • If I was given the rights from Warner Bros. to direct a Batman movie, GUESS WHAT SONG IS GONNA GET AN ORCHESTRAL REMIX!

  • Fantastic stage music, I wonder why the joker got the bat logo as pupils, it stand good bur still looks like he likes batman and he wants him just when people got the dollar logo in their eye, cause they see money and want that money, enjoy batman's fist or bullets

  • @dragongame2 nope i think the batman pupils logo means that the joker is obsessed with batman... wich is accurate

  • time to do the bat dance

  • OMG,nostalgia !

  • DO THE BAT DANCE

  • where did u get the soundtracks from?

  • Please someone make a Guitar Pro tab for this... Or someone link me to where I can find one. This was my faviourite NES music.

  • I'd love to have seen what Sunsoft could have done with Konami sound chips.

    A man can dream though...

    ...a man...

    ...can dream.

  • @ZDST Agreed.Sunsoft was underrated. Remember Blaster Master for NES?

  • my childhood OO

  • "Do the bat dance, oohohohohoho!!!"

*Flaps his hands like a bird*

    "hohohohahahahaha!!!"

  • Joker's face was enough to either drive off children, or to lure in gamers into buying the product!

  • good memories.this song is so bad ass.

  • I spent my childhood with this game and I still play it sometimes! So many great memories...

  • @whaowman

I really don't think this game qualifies as a Mega Man or Contra rip-off. Sure you shoot stuff, but that's about it. Similar room scrolling effects can be expected across NES games because of the inherent limitations of the NES. There's also bound to be similarities across general platforming shooters. There really isn't anything THAT similar though that pegs this as a rip-off of either. Check out the Krion Conquest to see a game that's actually very guilty of ripping off Mega Man. :)

  • @whaowman

There's a remotely brief coincidence in one progression, but that's about it. Listen closely to the two songs again. I should add that I'm not just saying these things to needlessly defend this game, but the general compositional style and sound production is distinct from Mega Man. I'd be eager to point out similarities if they were really there, like Mighty Final Fight to MM6.

I understand how AVGN heard a similar progression, moments of songs remind me of other songs all the time.

  • @explod2A03 It's definitely a Mario clone on account of being a platformer :P

  • @whaowman No offense but it looks like you watch too many AVGN videos. This game is really excellent in every aspect, it exploded the graphics and sound posibilites of the Nes to its limits. It's a classic and one of the finest games of this console.

  • @shadowupper Take it easy man. I fucking love this game. I beat so many times and even made a video about it :)

  • @whaowman

Actually, it really doesn't. Even if it did, one music track wouldn't make the whole game a rip-off of Mega Man.

  • @whaowman the boss theme sounds nothing like crashman, stop listening to the avgn rage.

  • @nintendude8VG I just talk about similarites. I think this game kicks so much ass!

  • @nintendude8VG For the people that say it sounds like it, it only sounds like it because back in the day, they all used the same musical format.

This means you are going to hear the same "instruments" in many other games. Megeman did NOT create these "instruments".

btw, where the hell could I get those anyway? I still hear them being used today and I would love it!

  • @whaowman

    lololololol

"AVGN said this sounds like Crashman, so i agree with him"

  • @explod2A03 I agree, most games have so similarities and are sometimes blant copies. But the gameplay is never the same, I hate people who say it is a rip-off. So I can let people say it is a rip-off of something, but I can never say it is the truth. NES games can come whatever they want, they can use the same qualities in gameplay as well, but each game is different.

  • @whaowman So it's a megaman ripoff for being an action sidescroller?

if that's the case, Megeman rips of Pitfall.

  • The bass at the beginning is just MEAN (H)

  • "moves head in rythm to the music"

  • Damnit I accidently missed the like button >.< Seriously!

Thankfully youtube lets us retract likes and dislikes :D

  • @mistertitanic

    Try pressing the like button.

  • @GreenGiantShit Already did.

  • @mistertitanic

    Oh. Nevermind then.

  • Best theme of the joker to ever exist

  • Comment removed

  • This music is pretty slick......too bad the game sucks

  • @skedardestroyer

Oh, you poor, AVGN guided child...

This game is actually one of the most underrated out there. Just because the Nerd says it's hard, doesn't mean it sucks.

  • @SethTheArcticFox92 Just because the nerd says its hard, doesnt mean it doesnt suck. Its an OK game, its just doesnt feel like a batman game. If you arent punching or throwing batarangs, ill pass :P I enjoy the game version of this game, for exactly that reason. You don't have that gun thing. That was my opinion well before the nerd got to it.

  • @skedardestroyer

    Okay, that's a solid argument.

Sorry, to me you came across as an AVGN fanbrat under the age of 13. XC

  • @SethTheArcticFox92 no problem. And thank you for seeing through my typo. I enjoy the gameboy version of this game, cuz you do get to punch and throw batarangs, among other things. The nerd hated that one too.

  • @skedardestroyer

As do I. The only complaint I have with that game is the controls could be tighter than they are.

  • @skedardestroyer Actually, the former guys at Nintendo Power gave the game a good rating: 4.3 out of 5 in Volume 31.

  • @smbmadman1 Somehow, I dont think Nintendo was all that impartial....but anyway, what rating did the gameboy version get? I liked that one better. I just cant enjoy a batman game where he uses a gun, haha

  • @skedardestroyer theres no rating for the game boy version :-(

  • Insert clip "Hello people, Jokers back in town"

  • im gonna try this music to play on my keyboard

  • bows down to:

    Naoki Kodaka

  • excelente

  • The one person who dislikes this is the Joker himself!

  • I think somebody clicked on the wrong side.

  • @KQF1994 Right with ya

  • The only nes game in the world that has better graphics and music than the genesis and snes version. Sunsoft really screwed up 16-bit versions badly.

  • @GXSCChater

I've never seen anything about a SNES version - Wiki says one was in development but was cancelled, thank god. The music on the genesis version isn't too bad but the graphics are terrible, just as I remember. Thanks for reminding me - I used to think Revenge was low quality, because apparently I played the Genesis version first. Then I found the NES version and couldn't figure out why I had thought that.

  • @EdOscuro

ROMs do exist of the SNES version. However the game is actually worse than the Genesis version, both in graphics and gameplay. The music however is up for debate on which is better. But it is best to forget that the SNES version was going to exist. As opposed to the NES version which has all categories going for it.

  • @GXSCChater

Sunsoft only produced the 16-Bit versions. Ringler Studios were the developers.

  • SunSoft and their awesome bass programming really are the kings of NES music.

I can't get my head around how extraordinarily dark and mysterious this sounds, with just the right smidgen of determination about it, all packaged into a catchy whole. Like Streets of Desolation, it's damn well-written and exactly what Batman should be about.

  • @Sejr You know what, though? Gremlins 2: The New Batch for the NES has that going for it as well. Gizmo may have been some 'cutish' animal/creature, but that experience for him was incredibly dark.... jacked-up all around. And the music helped it be that way.

  • good times! =,)

  • Like AVGN said, SunSoft games had wicked awesome music and this is proof.

  • Comment removed

  • Thumbs up if you did the batdance

  • This game is looks 16 bit despite being on an 8 bit console. Amazing!

  • @mopbrothers I have this cartridge and it's really an experience!

  • Sun-Soft games were sometimes shitty, but you would have such an adrenaline high from this song, that you wouldn't give a shit.

  • @deepercuttisgay May great games weren't released in Europe, but for some strange reason all good Sunsoft games (Batman, Batman: RoJ, Gremlins 2, Journey to Silius, Blaster Master, Mr Gimmick, Ufouria) were released here, and the crap ones (Xenophobe, Platoon) stayed in Japan or the US.

  • I give the middle finger to the people who don't consider VGM "real" music.

  • @SethTheArcticFox92 well that makes 2 of us.....

  • 0:20 It's kinda like Megaman 3 Dr Wily 1 stage

  • If you don't like this song you are literally a child molester.

  • This game has a badass soundtrack, but not just that. It has good or very good graphics and controls. There are ports of this game for the genesis and super nes but those sucked, this one is the best.

  • Great game and music!

  • Cue butt-punching. Whoops, wrong game.

  • 0:33 la mejor parte !!! salu2 amigos del mundo VIVA LA NES por siempre abrazos a todos los camaradas consoleros ! ja ja ja

  • EVERYONE DO THE MOTHERF****N' BATDANCE

  • When I first time I heard the music, it makes me thought it was from 16 bit game, EVEN THE GRAPHICS!

  • Really this soundtrack and many others soundtracks from the old NES can easily put a today soundtrack from a game in the dirt. So nostalgic :(

  • Really this soundtrack and many others soundtracks from the old NES can easily put a today soundtrack from a game in the dirt. So nostalgic :(

  • Better than the SNES version of the music

  • Very Good Music.

  • okey oooo raittttt

  • *headbangs to music*

  • @Julienfun

    "Headbangs"?

    Do the Batdance!

    *Headtwists*

  • Juste énorme!!!!!!!

  • The beginning of this song is so fucking metal! Yeah!

  • *turns head to the music*

  • HAVE FUN MOTHERF***ER!! WOHAHAHA!!

  • Oh i love this song!

  • this muisc is awsome

  • Music composition wise puts alot of todays games in the dirt.

The composer of this game knows who to put emotion into his music in his games.

Kicks royal ass over todays games good god.

Old School is, was and will still remain #1.

  • True power of the nes sound chip, well look who did the music:

    Naoki Kodaka

He also did Blaster Master for nes, Batman original video game for sega genesis and the music also kicks ass.

Not only that, He also did an rpg for sunsoft entitled:

    Albert Odyssey.

  • the best part is 0:16-0:29

  • the joker has ba(t)d eyes.

  • The best piece of music in a cartridge filled with epicness. 6/5.

  • I dunno about all that... Ever hear the music in Journey To Silius? How about Shatterhand? Or Shadow Of The Ninja? Now THOSE games have a badass soundtrack.

  • Journey to Silius is good, and it was produced by SunSoft, like Return of the Joker. Imo, shatterhand is nothing special ... Sorry. Shadow of the Ninja is okay, but still, I prefer Castlevania and MegaMan over it.

Different taste, I guess. Ever heard the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 soundtrack for the NES? One of my favorites.

  • Un juegazo el batman, y la musica espectacular

  • Do the Batdance!

  • HAVE FUN MOTHERFU*KER HAHAHA!

  • *Turns Head Up to Dance*

    I loved that review too!

  • Sun Soft had a special detail for the music like gremlins 2

  • dpcm bass

  • one of many favorite nes classic themes

    5 stars

  • This is one of my favorite NES songs :P

  • Aaaaaahhhhh, NES times.... yeah, i remember it well...it's so nostalgic. GOD DAMN, I STILL HAVE NES AND THIS GAME!

*goes to the TV and attaches NES*

  • 0:16 0:28 sound like some say BATMAN BATMAN

  • @gazisaad lol. me too.

  • @gazisaad

Now that you actually say it... Well spotted!

Some video game composers compose melodic tunes, other composers pack in a lead voice which is sounding like lyrics being sung. I'll bet that they had some lyrics in mind.

  • when i first played this game? i kicked ass badly. i finished the whole game in under 6 hours!

  • Gotta love that NES sound card.

  • Yeah, NES games had some of the best music to ever be in video games, imo.

  • SNES games also had some of the best music around too. Killer Instinct or Chrono Trigger anyone? I'd say NES and SNES both have great sounding games.

  • This song slightly reminds me of TMNT for the NES

  • In it's epicness it definitely can hold it's ground.

  • I always loved the NES Batman music. I had the other Batman game, and I loved its music.

  • one of the best NES tunes ive heard. Definitely need to find the $2 bucks this game is worth nowadays and look for it at that Exchange place near by my place :)

  • wonderful ,

I wonder if anyone of you guys can do that on an electric guitar or make it into any real instument.

  • The drums aren't hard :)

  • @GoldenSowrd82 chris holland FTW

  • do the bat dance oooooooooooooooooo lol

  • beatman89

    lol avgn referance!!

  • do the bat dance haha lol

  • I can't remember if it was sega or super nintendo that remade this and made it look awful and the sound was too. NES version looks 10x better

  • It was The Sega Genesis, titled as 'Revenge of the Joker'. Hope that helps you out.

  • ese juego era genial siempre la jugaba nunca me cansaba de jugar y la musica era genial.......

  • this game was the shit...couldn't believe the graphics looked so good (back then)

  • DUDE THIS WAS THE VERY FIRST GAME I RENTED FROM BLOCKBUSTER AS A KID!!!!!

    XD

    I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!

I remember the boss fights where so fun!!!!

  • I like this music! I've beaten this game at least once.

  • It's a Bat Dance.

  • This song is perfect. We covered it with my band Fekish. You can look it up on Last FM.

  • This song is amazing. I can't stop listening to it. It's quite possibly the best 8 bit song ever made

  • We want the creator behind these songs back in the game industry, AT ALL COST!

  • Uh I'm pretty sure he still does music. His name is Tommy Tallarico but he doesn't get to make catchy tunes like this or Earthworm Jim anymore.

  • Its by Tommy Tallarico? wow what a genious, love his work on earthworm jim

  • "Composer: Naoki Kodaka, Nobuyuki Hara, Shinichi"

  • Yeah, I think IIC3 might've been joking. Either way, just to avoid any confusion, the music is composed and / or programmed by those credited in the video information. They were SunSoft regulars back in the day, also having worked on other titles like Blaster Master, Journey to Silius, and Gremlins 2.

Tallarico had nothing to do with this. :)

  • did the nes used some ind of extra chip for the drums and bass in this game?.

  • Actually, no, not for this one. Some Japanese titles did make use of sound expansion chips, but what you hear here is just the regular sound output of the NES. :)

What makes it stand out in sound is the use of bass samples. Not too many titles used the sample channel melodically.
