Absolute wonderful production with a hard back beat, piano triplets , backing vocals and a wonderful soulful vocal from Keely Smith, Magical . Love it
Keeley Smith was one of my late mother's favourite singers, and one of my happiest chidhood memories is watching her her dance round the living room to this. Thanks for posting!
I must have been having a bad day last month - the date I purchased this wonderful record was 17th April 1965 not 13th. The best ever version of this song.
I bought this record on Easter Saturday 13th April 1965 and it was easily one of the best performances I have ever owned - it had been played on BBC'S Top of the Pops the previous week and Jimmy Saville, the D.J, said in his intro that occasionally some of Hollywood's best singers still hit the charts - never was a truer word said.
hi, I've just found your video, it brings back many happy memories. i'd love a copy on CD. The only copies available are on vinyl & I don't have a record player! I'm happy to pay for it. any chance?
Thanks for adding this! I loved this song as a little girl and it suddenly came back into my head.....It's taken 2 days to remember the title & artist's name! Got there in the end, though Didn't realise she had a career singing with Louis Prima...

I remember selling this record in the sixties, one of the best female singers ever,

I would like a clean copy of this - can anyone oblige? Why is it not available on iTunes?

Go look for Andrea Bocelli singing the original Mattinata this song is based on.

does anybody out there have a recording of Keely singing Standing In the Ruins?
msbrazanza 1 year ago
@msbrazanza Hi! Yes I have Standing in the ruins on vinyl and on CD..would you like a copy?

I love Keely's singing, but do not care for Ernie Freeman's arrangement. His recordings with Sinatra from this same period sound very similar.

This has been converted from the original vinyl. It's not a proper CD quality version.

This song introduced me to Keely way back when and led me to appreciate her so much.
Anyone remember her acting in Thunder Road with Robert Mitchum? Or did I dream that?
