this teacher sounds more pathetic then my teacher the way my teacher handles the class its no wonder there are 6 sophomores and 2 Jr's in my freshman class
@litebright210 Actually, he did it right. You do have to change the sign, and you can have a + next to a -. The way you would write it is: 6x+(-15) And the parenthesis just show that the 15 is a negetive number, it doesn't mean multiplication like in most cases. Then after that you just solve.
I'm in 7 grade, but I'm taking 8 grade math and this is not how were being tought with the negatives and stuff. I was trying to find something to help me understand it better and this didn't help
These teachers need to be a little more entertaining in my opinion. Very factual, but kind of bland. For a lot of people, an effective lesson involves making the lesson memorable and fun, not just providing the facts.
Making lessons entertaining shouldn't stop after grade school! :)
no, you need to learn math in order to think logicaly and structuraly. you also need it since it gives your thinking a sort of "problem solving" which i guess a military dude would have a lot of use of.
You guys that came up with 6x - 15 are correct, 6x + -15 is in fact 6x - 15. The reason they teach it this way is some more complicated problems must follow this procedure to produce the correct answer.
Good video but I need information on distribuating a fraction. I am useing the book Elementary and Intermediate Algerba" by Allen R. Angel. Page 100 Example 10 has one singe example, but that is confuseing me. the chapter review on page 168, number 12 is -1/3(3 + 6y) I thought I took 1/3 and multiplied it by 3 (the denominoter) and that gives me 1. then 1 x3 , 1x6y, So I came up with 3 +6y. But 3 and 6 are not 1/3 of my starting terms. Am I right or am I over thinking it?
Thsi is really helpfull

I'm not sure if this is correct as I'm just getting back into math after years of not using it, but I think you can look at it like this:
-1/3(3) + (-1/3)(6y) -1 + (-2y) -1 - 2y
Negative 1/3 times 3 is -1.
Negative 1/3 times 6y is -2y.
any time you add a negative number you are just subtracting that number, so -1 plus negative 2y is just -1 minus y.
I hope this helps :)

Thanks for the video, but I think the answer should be: 6X-15
Provided, the sign change should be applied while distributing. I think you're answer (correst as it is), might be confusing for some. Thanks!

Isn't it suppose to be 6x - 15? It would confuse people to put 6x + -15.
