I have this car since 1993.It was the first facelifted car to come out of the production line in Stuttgard.There hasn't been one day that I turned the key and it didn't start. After all these years, not a single problem,ever. Today's cars, even Mercedes are much more "fragile". This one will always take you to your destination, no matter what. It has 350.000 kms and I believe it is only in the half of its problem-free life, maybe more.It's like a member of our family.

Couldn't stand watching all the parts in this horror show, but it 's quite obvious that Vicki had moral issues battering this fine old W124. Of course most british cars would just fall apart in atoms in a "test" like this, and an -80:s Mercedes wouldn't - that's clear to most of us.

But please sell this fine item of an era when MB outshined most car brands to someone who would care for it , instead of just try to kill it.

I'm an American (only 13 last year) but I'm a caraholic (especially German ones), and I went all the way from the West Coast to Stuttgart, Germany to see the Porsche and Mercedes museums. MAGICAL. Coolest thing I've ever done. I saw nearly every Mercedes ever built within the last 100 years. Amazing experience. If you ever have the chance, GO. Mercedes/German cars for life. :-)

My S124 300TDT automatic -90 has approx. 600 000km on it and it works like it was new :) + it has some tune ups done on the fuel injection(?) and it torques like a muthafucka ;D

my dad has an 1987 W124 300E and the car was used every day since it was buyed and it has now 320.000 km on clock and it runs still great and there is no greater differrence in comfort and so on as it was new in 1987 ;-))

Correction: T means estate (T-model), TD means estate diesel, DT means sedan diesel with a turbo, and TDT is an estate diesel with a turbo :) I have a 300TDT and I would never take the turbo off :D My mileage is somewhere around 600 000km and I have no intentions to get rid of my Benz <3

I have one here in 2010 soon.. and she is still on the road with 240 K miles on her. I keep the oil changed and do all the normal stuff ,,, She does have a few oil leaks here and there... I have no complaints except all the plastic is crap... The ignition tumblers went to pot and if you ever have to hot wire one to get it to move you better have some time to get the lock out... It does get crap for mileage on gas around 12 in city... Oh and the front tie rod ends broke off after doing 90+mph...

I've just bought a 300TD one of these with 260,000 miles on the clock. She is super smooth really quiet is great on fuel comfy as any new car i have owned and has evey extra you can think of air con cruise leather ABS etc etc etc. I was only going to keep her as a stand in but now intend to keep her for a long long time. The best Merc i have owned in years and i've had a few.

my 1991 w124 chasis 300E has only 70K miles and runs faultlessly. built like a tank and as the clip shows you can get them for a tiny fraction of their new price with 80%+ (dep on milage,obviously) of their engine life left. bargain. acceleration from standing is crap but ride is very smooth and very quiet. 10L/100kms round town steady driving (still does 130mph when asked). a top quality car that's cheap! what more do i want? nuffin. cheers

W124 250 D its old, slow and sounds like a tank. However...... it runs on vegetable oil. has a 600+ mile range , is as comfortable as sitting on a greased up fat lass ;o), Built like a swiss watch and you can fit your life in the estate. You can keep your STI Evo type "R".
