@bwatrumpet for one it was basically a tie. with Paul in 3rd. who cares about a few dozen people. The big deal here is Santorum has no chance. He is a bad debator doesn't have as much money as Mitt. Mitt is flawed. Democrats won't vote for him over Obama. Besides he would be pretty much the same thing with Romney Care Encouraged at state levels instead of the federal gov't handling it. He is the same, nothing would change for our citizens. If mitt gets the nomination, republicans lose.
@MrJairbear I hate to be picky but the facts say otherwise. I don't care if Santorum did better than expected. The truth is more people in Iowa said that they want Mitt Romney to be president than any other candidate. Even if that is by one vote or one hundred, the same holds true.
O my gosh... ya and you know what? 75% Rejected Santorum... 78% didn't vote for Paul...86% said no to Newt! You're logic is highly flawed. And bud...face it Romney won. This is a democracy and more people voted for Romney than any other candidate! I appreciate your desire to spread your opinion but I'm sorry to say...you got it wrong.
1. @bwatrumpet Thank you for your opinion. A case such as you propounded- could- be made but it would be overly credulous. The premise is that we who identify ourselves as conservative have jumped around between Perry, Bachman, Gingrich and Santorum – even Paul.
The entrance polls indicate that a substantial number of those who identify themselves as “tea party participants” voted for Ron Paul. Paul is very conservative on many issues, economic and social. The problem he has is his odious position on Iran having the “right to nukes” and his questionable position on Israel.
I was leaning heavily toward Perry at one point until he BLEW IT in the debates. Many conservatives jumped off the Perry band wagon after he botched those debates because we CANNOT nominate another Bush-like speaker.
Many jumped to Gingrich and then left for Santorum after they saw how Newt reacted to the negative ads and many left Newt as they considered his 3 marriages and commercials with Pelosi.
Nevertheless, JUST LIKE WITH John McCain – Romney is the most loathed candidate by the MAJORITY of Republicans, mainly us conservatives. We ARE the majority in this party.
The PROBLEM is that we have been repeatedly hi-jacked by the liberal minority because there is no run-off election and the nominee can win JUST LIKE MCCAIN despite not being able to get a majority.
If newt or Perry drop out of this race – before it is too late to make a difference- Mitt Romney will have absolute zero chance of stealing this nomination.
6. @bwa Plaudits to Bachman for bowing out. Personally, I think Perry needs to go. He had a prime opportunity, those of us who left him will not return. He blew it far too badly. He needs to do the right thing.
BUT, there is no way the conservatives divided between the other 5 candidates would otherwise go to Romney & it would be absurd to believe that the case could be made that the other candidates are the anti-Perry candidate, the anti-Paul candidate or anti-Gingrich candidate.

I love it when the right is so far out of touch that they even describe Fox as moderate.

well Santorum won, Iowa. It was very close. Mitt will do say whatever he can to win.
