I love his books, but I've seen some interviews with him now and he always seems arrogant. Don't really like his personality. But hell, I don't read books cause someone is kind to the world :P
Grisham himself has said he can never be compared to Faulkner or Welty, that he isn't a 'great' writer'...however, he said he's been a very successful 'bookseller.'.....read between the lines here, folks....
At last a wise comment! There are so many great, genuine writers in the USA that you'd think - and hope - that Americans can make the difference between a book seller and a writer. Grisham is not great indeed.
He can't see the difference? I do. John Grisham's writing gets better with time. For me his best works were the one's published in this decade. My favorites are The Last Juror and A Painted House. The 90's books like The Runaway Jury and The Firm are also excellent, but the main diffrence is that his writing is improving as the years go by. It gets leaner and therefore, more enjoyable. A Time to Kill vs The Last Juror? the latter is the more polished version of Mr. Grisham's writing.
Im a big fan of John Grisham's books... thank you for posting this video.. :)
