guyz did u know that in philippines they already made a movie similar to this? it was 1960's i guess and the title "MARUJA"... and even remake in title moments of love! these movies are so good too! so, maybe the lake house of keanu base in korean il mare but in comes to originality... philippines thats it! but i like this korean version! :)

There's a filipino film entitled Moments Of Love (released 2006) with the concept similar to this film but its twist is different compared with Il Mare and Lakehouse. I love films with TIME concept like Somewhere in Time (1980), The Love Letter (late 90's) and this one....

I love it when I scroll these YouTube comment boards and find people complaining about US Adaptions of Foriegn films like its wrong or something. It doesn't effect anyone in any manner of shape, its just the way the industry works. Everyone does it, not just the "Americans". Whether or not you enjoyed either version is what counts. For the record I've enjoyed many "American Adaptions" of foreign films, and I've also enjoyed the original versions as well.

Il Mare means The Sea in Italian. The lake house is named Il Mare by the architect. This movie is actually based on an American movie called "The Love Letter" starring Jennifer Jason Leigh. Same story and very romantic. But I like the two lead in the Korean version better.

It is hard to say where the author thought of the idea of connecting past with present. Unfortunately, "The Love Letter" you are referring to was probably NOT the one. In fact, throughout the history of the movies, there are many movies alike "Il Mare".

It is widely known that a lot of Korean authors gain their ideas from the Japanese counterparts. One of the movie that made a huge impact on Koreans were "Love Letter" which came in 1995.

I've wanted to see this movie for some months; at first I was waiting to see the lake house, then I found out that Il mare was the original movie, so I wait to see it first, I haven't see completely the lake house, I only saw the ending, and the truth is that I feel that there is something missing, I dont know, Il mare makes me have a sad-happy feeling, that the lake house doesnt.
