  • 1st, it can't be a song purchased with iTunes. 2nd, Try going to Advanced > Create AAC Version instead of Right Clicking.

    Hope This Helps!

  • @MasterChiefWins Hey much thanks on the knowledge! I was having the same problem with converting the file to aac

  • My Computer,Control Panel,Folder Options,View,UNcheck Hide Extensions For Known File Types

  • yeah mine too 19 ronnie07

  • Make sure you have the 'manually manage music and video' for your iphone box checked in itunes, worked fine after that!

  • i am having trouble after converting the file to AAC and changing the file name to m4r

  • Does this work with jailbroke Iphones?

    Firmware 2.2.1 (5H11)

When I create the acc file then rename the m4p to m4r, I can drag it into my ringtones but after that it wont drag to the iphone so I can sync.....any ideas?

Im a rookie...so keep that in mind.

  • It might work for jailbroken iPhones. I also heard that connecting your iPhone to your computer will brick it.

  • Thank you! Worked with mac no problem.

  • Thank you sir!

  • shit your genious man ja ja yeah

  • i couldnt change the file and i use vista. when i converted it to aac and dragged it to my desktop i couldnt change it to m4r cuz it didnt have an extension to begin with....

  • First things things, I don't use windows, I use Macs and It too can be done on them not just XP.

Second, I'd recommend that you make sure that when you save your file (mp3), the option of hiding the extension is turned off, that way you'll see the extension showing in your file.

  • you the fucking man!!! get in!

  • Can anyone help... I've done everything and synced the ringtone but it doesn't appear on my iPhone. I made sure the ringtone I created was check marked before I synced it, yet I can't find it on the iPhone. My other ringtones I bought from iTunes are on there though. Anyone else have the same problem?

  • i have the same problem still trying to fix it

  • Works great! I used it with Vista and had no problems!

  • hey man...thanks for this video help...Can you help me with something...first of all doesn't matter how small i trim down the song it keep on showing that its 35 seconds long. and other thing that i don't see any ringtones option in my itunes. can you tell me how will i get that

  • ringtone issue:

Go to iTunes preferences =>General (Tab)=>check (√) Ringtones

  • This is why Apple is still producing a basic product - trying to do anything with it and it is as complex and frustrating as trying to use 1980's software. How many stages does it take to put an MP3 to a ringtone??? Look at Nokia - select the MP3, then set as ringtone. 2 steps in about 5 seconds. No need to download 2 other seperate programs to cut the song down to under 30 seconds, then to change the format of it. No need to then go in & put it Itunes and then finally back onto the phone.

  • Works on Vista work with Iphone 2.1 and Itunes 8.0 As well. Cannot drad and drop with itunes 8.0 you have to goto file and add files to library and select it...

  • dis aint working for me ... it wont drag and drop into ringtones

  • wow helped me a lot!!!!thnx!!

but i accidently synced 2 same songs but i cant remove it. how do i do that??

  • omg <3

I was gonna be so devo if i had to buy ringtones lol.

  • Thank You! And yes you can do it on vista!

  • I don't know but I might be getting Vista soon so ill try it.

  • I'm using the 3G iphone, running on v2.0.2 on 7.7.1.11 too..HELP pls...

  • Make sure that on the Summary tab when your phone is connected, that the manually sync music and videos box is checked.

WARNING CHECKING THIS BOX WILL REMOVE ALL MUSIC/VIDEOS.

Also in the Ringtones Tab on your iPhone in iTunes that all ringtones are synced or you have the ringtone selected is synced

  • I've tried again..this time, one song got in! Yes, but I need to keep trying to put in more songs..anyway, thanks for the advice. I think I'm getting hang of it.

  • hmm, i just have to say u are the man, thanx for this helpful video.

this method works. tested by me

  • Do You Have the iPhone 3G or the Original iPhone?

  • I have the Original iPhone v2.0.1 with itunes 7.7.1.11

  • I haven't tried this yet, so I can't verify it works... but I'll give it a shot later. One thing that I did notice that I think might effect the people following this tutorial is that you left out what they need to do in order to have the file extension appear. You have to enable that under Control Panel > Folder Options > View > Uncheck "Hide File Extensions".
