Its interesting that the conjecture put forth on these posts is all based on theory, none of it based in fact. No one knows the facts of the makeup of the earth or anything else for that matter. All science is a tower of theory based on previously accepted theory. Theory is not truth. It is best guess Mr. Sulu. If the earth, moon, sun or any other heavenly body is solid or hollow is theory, because nothing has been proven in that regard. Everything is possible, nothing is proven false.

Two questions

1) It would be rather simple to test this, fire a laser down a long tube reflect it off a mirror and time the delay. As the earth "expands" this delay would get longer and longer.

2) If all this is due to expansion how do mountain ranges form ?

The reason they split Asia and Europe is because they are on top of many different plates. The plates are colliding to create mountains, volcanoes, rifts etc...

I hope he's not trying to say that the earth was a solid mass of crust in the Cambrian and Devonian period. I'm assuming that the continents grew out of the oceans as the world expanded. It would also have to explain how ancient equatorial fossils are now found at temperate or polar latitudes, and vice versa. If the world simply expanded without massive continental drift, leaving land masses in roughly the place, this should not be the case.

But an interesting idea.

if you take the rate the ocean floors are expanding ie atlantic, pacific, indian etc and combine the amount your prob get close to half meter a year? 1kilometer in 2000yr, 1000kilometer in 2million yrs? even half this would be a major expantion of new ocean floor. im sure if you took the time to do all the maths proply it would all fit together with ocean floor age and earth expantion theory?

If the universe is expanding, the earth is expanding. If the expansion of matter is accelerating due a force (dark matter or sumthin') then time is slowing down.

Else Einstien and Hubble were wrong, and the earth is flat.

He got it wrong. Plate tectonics doesn't claim that the built-up ocean crust is consumed at the mid-ocean ridge in the middle of the Pacific. It claims it to be consumed basically around the edges of continents (Alaska and Russia, e.g.).

being somewhat new to this particular field of study. i 'm still hesitant, but, it does make a lot of sense. at this point though. i would not rule out plate tectonics yet either. it to does a great job of explaining a lot of things. honestly at this point, i'm starting to think they are both right, to an extent. the earth may be expanding and in doing so, it may be causing what are being viewed as plate tectonics to occur. either way... this is very interesting to say the least!!!!

I think the cause of expansion is probably pretty obvious.

I mean heat expansion takes energy. Where does the earth get 99% of its energy? The sun. Wow that was tricky. lol.

But a more specific hypothesis: The sun interact with the earth via birkeland currents (google: Themis mission) which power the northern lights, and possibly lightning.

If there is a net current flow through the earth then this would certainly explain the magnetic field, ice ages, and the heating expansion of the earth.

@Individualism101 Gravity produces heat at the core by means of pressure. How much do you think 3,963 miles thick of earth weighs? What kind of pressure is produced at the core by this continuous pressure? Pressure creates heat, vacuum is opposite. See thermodynamics. What, you think the dirt, once it makes contact with the ground, does not weigh anything? The temperature of the earth if you dig down is proportional to depth. The further you are below the surface the warmer the temperature is.

We regard those that disprove long established beliefs as heros (see Albert Einstein disproving Newton) This is why we still call evolution and gravity theories, (strictly speaking we call Newtons three laws theories now too).

Earth and also other planets and great or small mases atracting not only other masses, but also every kind of energy which is collecting inside body of a planet. Thats why it is so hot inside, why there nuclear reactions happening(recent discoveries), and in those reactions or without them new matter is produced. Speed of a process grows with the mass. Also sun, not just spreads energy, but also collects it..

The Growing Earth is much harder to experience becuase the Pacific ocean is so vast and harder to visualize, but the Atlantic is much more acceptable to admit that it is expanding hence the Pangea hypothesis. But now, with better technology, we can all see that the Pacific is also expanding, which means the earth is expanding but this fact causes us anguish.

Are the continental shelves being taken into consideration when the plates fit together on the diagram?how about an explanation for The Himalayas? we can measure their rate of growth per year and there are no sea floor spreading zones near the indian ocean?

My only question is this... is this theory in any way consistent with the dinosaur fossils? In other words, in the early stages of earths life, there was obviously based on this theory, no oceans? So perhaps the water was all completely frozen on the poles? Either way, how do the fossils of dinasaurs from various eras stack up with this theory?

This expanding earth is happening rapidly right? So the circumphrence of the Earth increases by how much each year by this theory? 2" to a 1' or so(really have no idea.) So why don't they measure a reflected light around the Earth each year(many mirrors each at the horizon reflecting to the next?) Easily tested theory it seems. If this IS true then it must be a conspiracy damn them.

It has been observed an expansion of the earth radius of about 1 cm per year. They didn't use mirrors but GPS stations. They all separate from each other!

Exactly WHAT geologic data are you talking about?

- Core samples from the continents are 1 billion, 2 billion, 3 billion years old.

- Yet core samples from the bottom of the ocean, show there is not one square mile that is older than 180 million years old!

- When looking in the oceans, they could not find a single fossil older than 70 million years old.

- Yet on the continents, they find fossils that are easily 200 million, 250 million years old (in places like Utah, Italy, China, etc.)

I'm not saying I believe this but, if the earth was expanding the continents would have to bend over time to match the growing size...they would become less and less curved. It seems logical they would develop faults as the were being forced open. I just don't understand where all the water comes from. It happens to all bodies of mass. Study Neal Adam's idea of pair creation. Mass preciptates out of ether from em absorption. It occurs at an exponential rate because ether density is greater on the interiors of bodies of mass. This is a cyclical process, i.e., there was NO BIG BANG.
