This is a beta, so obviously BFD looks better, as you said no one really knows the full storyline, and how do you know if the missions were better in BFD when nobody really knows about the missions in Twelve Tales?
Twelve Tales actually probably had far more content than BFD and it's really just preference which style you like more.
IMO Twelve Tales looked more fun but seeing how that Conker never saw the light of day-aside from the GBC game-than I'm really not a Conker fan so whatever.
i like kid conker! :-( i think it would've rocked, knowing how immature i am. i'm not even interested in those things. at least make 2 conkers one witha huge M with mature on it next to his name for mature, and a huge K for kids for the children. :-)

If this game was released, I might've actually favorited it over Banjo-Tooie. But, I find that Mature stuff like Bad Fur Day just doesn't make a true game. I've never even heard anyone say something good about BFD's gameplay... It seems that it was popular because of the script to me... But I've never played it, so I don't know... But anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if Rare lied about canceling this. The two are apparently nothing alike.

i have nothing against what you said, but this looks to me like one of the many generic platformers that the N64 already had. Conker's Bad Fur Day was more than your average platformer. there was variety, great laughs, and lots of voice overs and memorable cinematic scenes. this game doesn't appear to have that. it looks like the typical cookie cutter "imaginative" platformer. to me, it doesn't seem very original, more like generic.

@evilmidget To me BFD really had nothing special in the gameplay department. It had some good jokes-that didn't hold up quite as great as some people think IMHO-and great graphics for the Nintendo 64-which once again didn't hold up, as you should never base a game around graphics or else it will simply become obsolete, not that, that's all BFD had going for it or anything-whereas Conker's Twelve Tales looks like it had bigger and less linear worlds, also variety in gameplay, and far more length.
So you are saying a bright, colorful platformer on a system known for bright, colorful platformers would have been more lasting than a unique, one-of-a-kind game never seen on a Nintendo system before?
Lots of the levels from Conker's Bad Fur Day were reused from Conker's Twelve Tails, they just changed them in areas that were appropriate. The ones that were parodies were obviously new, but alot of the generic areas existed in the original game, too.
@Draknfyre I'm saying I personally prefer bright, colorful 3D platformers, it most likely would have sold more on a system that was known for bright, colorful 3D platformers (plus Nintendo probably would have advertised it more), by the looks of it, it was superior in terms of how much content and how big the game was, and IMHO it looked like it had more to offer than just a shallow exterior in terms of gameplay.
I played through BFD and no, by the looks of it they took out many, MANY things.
You complained about the level linearity. I was saying alot of the generic levels were pulled straight out this game.
Let me put it this way, there are people still raving about how great and funny Conker's Bad Fur Day was. Even today there are games that don't match some of the "WTF?" of things like a singing shit boss. You didn't like it, and thought it was shallow. I can respect that that is your opinion, but the majority of people who played it loved it.

I never said I didn't like it, I said I didn't like it as much, and although appreciate the universe what I'm saying is I think gameplay and content is what's important and IMHO the crude world of BFD is shallow in comparison to Twelve Tales, which looked to be a statistically better game.
We could go back and forth forever on the better game, a published one, or one that was unreleased, but the fact was it really was another bright, colorful platformer.
And as someone who likes those kinds of games, and is a diehard Nintendo fan, the Nintendo 64 didn't need another one. The system already had a bad reputation about it, and it's credibility with older gamers took a hit because of that.

@Draknfyre I respectfully disagree. As I've said in a previous post IMO the N64 unfortunately didn't have as many great "kiddy" games as people seem to think. I also disagree that the shock factor of BFD and its sheer crudeness was enough to really make it a better game factually, although I do respect your opinion. However if I recall when I was originally posting about this I was responding to people who were saying BFD was just soo much better as a game, which really didn't appear to be true.

because it quite literally broke the Nintendo mold. Never before on a Nintendo game was seen the level of sexuality, language, and subject matter. Was it crude? Most of it. Was it funny as hell? To most people.
It's telling that not even the XBox remake, which originally billed itself as "Live and Uncut" censored the game worse than the Nintendo version was censored, and subsequently, despite the improved graphics, recieved poor reviews (the removal of many modes didn't help.)

@evilmidget Also I love Nintendo 64 platformers, and in truth, there are (IMO) unfortunately not as many great ones as people assume there are. Super Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie. Donkey Kong 64 wasn't bad at all, but IMO not as good as the others. Those are the main 3D platformers for the Nintendo 64 from what I recall, and I would have loved one more like them (I.E. Conker's Twelve Tales). I totally see your point and the appeal BFD brings to you, so it's definitely a preference.

They changed it because multiple times when they showed it off, it was criticized as "another kiddy game on the Nintendo 64."
So after being told this twice after showing it off twice, they decided to make it as graphic, and raunchy and nasty as they could as an answer.
Conker still ended up as a kiddy game on the Game Boy.

This is a beta, so obviously BFD looks better, as you said no one really knows the full storyline, and how do you know if the missions were better in BFD when nobody really knows about the missions in Twelve Tales?
Twelve Tales actually probably had far more content than BFD and it's really just preference which style you like more.
IMO Twelve Tales looked more fun but seeing how that Conker never saw the light of day-aside from the GBC game-than I'm really not a Conker fan so whatever.

If this game was released, I might've actually favorited it over Banjo-Tooie. But, I find that Mature stuff like Bad Fur Day just doesn't make a true game. I've never even heard anyone say something good about BFD's gameplay... It seems that it was popular because of the script to me... But I've never played it, so I don't know... But anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if Rare lied about canceling this. The two are apparently nothing alike.

i have nothing against what you said, but this looks to me like one of the many generic platformers that the N64 already had. Conker's Bad Fur Day was more than your average platformer. there was variety, great laughs, and lots of voice overs and memorable cinematic scenes. this game doesn't appear to have that. it looks like the typical cookie cutter "imaginative" platformer. to me, it doesn't seem very original, more like generic.

@evilmidget To me BFD really had nothing special in the gameplay department. It had some good jokes-that didn't hold up quite as great as some people think IMHO-and great graphics for the Nintendo 64-which once again didn't hold up, as you should never base a game around graphics or else it will simply become obsolete, not that, that's all BFD had going for it or anything-whereas Conker's Twelve Tales looks like it had bigger and less linear worlds, also variety in gameplay, and far more length.

Lots of the levels from Conker's Bad Fur Day were reused from Conker's Twelve Tails, they just changed them in areas that were appropriate. The ones that were parodies were obviously new, but alot of the generic areas existed in the original game, too.

@Draknfyre I'm saying I personally prefer bright, colorful 3D platformers, it most likely would have sold more on a system that was known for bright, colorful 3D platformers (plus Nintendo probably would have advertised it more), by the looks of it, it was superior in terms of how much content and how big the game was, and IMHO it looked like it had more to offer than just a shallow exterior in terms of gameplay.
I played through BFD and no, by the looks of it they took out many, MANY things.

You complained about the level linearity. I was saying alot of the generic levels were pulled straight out this game.
Let me put it this way, there are people still raving about how great and funny Conker's Bad Fur Day was. Even today there are games that don't match some of the "WTF?" of things like a singing shit boss. You didn't like it, and thought it was shallow. I can respect that that is your opinion, but the majority of people who played it loved it.

I never said I didn't like it, I said I didn't like it as much, and although appreciate the universe what I'm saying is I think gameplay and content is what's important and IMHO the crude world of BFD is shallow in comparison to Twelve Tales, which looked to be a statistically better game.

We could go back and forth forever on the better game, a published one, or one that was unreleased, but the fact was it really was another bright, colorful platformer.
And as someone who likes those kinds of games, and is a diehard Nintendo fan, the Nintendo 64 didn't need another one. The system already had a bad reputation about it, and it's credibility with older gamers took a hit because of that.
I am of the opinion that the "shock" of CBFD was more important than TT simply

@Draknfyre I respectfully disagree. As I've said in a previous post IMO the N64 unfortunately didn't have as many great "kiddy" games as people seem to think. I also disagree that the shock factor of BFD and its sheer crudeness was enough to really make it a better game factually, although I do respect your opinion. However if I recall when I was originally posting about this I was responding to people who were saying BFD was just soo much better as a game, which really didn't appear to be true.

because it quite literally broke the Nintendo mold. Never before on a Nintendo game was seen the level of sexuality, language, and subject matter. Was it crude? Most of it. Was it funny as hell? To most people.
It's telling that not even the XBox remake, which originally billed itself as "Live and Uncut" censored the game worse than the Nintendo version was censored, and subsequently, despite the improved graphics, recieved poor reviews (the removal of many modes didn't help.)

I understand the appeal of the game, but as I said my original point wasn't that this was factually a better game, just in reply to those who thought BFD was statistically the better game weren't necessarily right (quite the opposite).

@evilmidget Also I love Nintendo 64 platformers, and in truth, there are (IMO) unfortunately not as many great ones as people assume there are. Super Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie. Donkey Kong 64 wasn't bad at all, but IMO not as good as the others. Those are the main 3D platformers for the Nintendo 64 from what I recall, and I would have loved one more like them (I.E. Conker's Twelve Tales). I totally see your point and the appeal BFD brings to you, so it's definitely a preference.

Yeah they partially owned them. They owned 49% of Rare. They sold that 49% to Microsoft in 2002 (Worst decision EVER Nintendo!)

But Nintendo has made worse decisions, such as spending all of their time making the Wii instead of games for the Wii, and leaving most of that work to shitty 3rd party developers.
