Fuck yeah. First time really listening to Loudness. Too bad that I wasn't willing to expand my musical horizons in the 80s...I stuck with Twisted Sister, Crue, Ozzy, Poison, Ratt. Hair bands. Better late than never, I suppose.
I bought "THUNDER IN THE EAST" and was really impressed, then I saw them open for Motley Crue and was completely blown away! But I was there with my girlfriend at the time and had to sit through Motley Crue's "THEATER OF PAIN" crap, who were dead to me the second I saw the album cover for it...
girls girls girls had some good songs, I really like You're all I need though. A beautiful ballad with those sort of lyrics is something only the Crue could come up with lol
I saw Loudness open up for Motley Crue back in the day. It was suppose to be WASP or someone similiar but Loudness opened. We were kinda hooked after that.
I remember about the 3rd album they brought in an American singer..but can't remember his name.
@pranicmegan If you want to know the name of another excellent Japanese metal band check out Seikima II. Their right behind Sabbath and priest on my list of all time favorite metal bands. They even have their own video game!
This is one of the greatest riffs for an intro. The whole album rocks out and it should make you wanna go out and eat pussy...OOPS! Sorry, I meant sushy.

HEY HEY HEY! CRAZY NIGHTS! Thank God for these guys, they opened door for Japanese metal! Rising from the east and saying "Konichiwa, now let's rock!"
I saw Loudness at the Rainbow Music Hall in Denver, Colorado on April 25, 1985. Because English was a second language for them they were going like "Freakin fruckin' frock and froll!!!!!!!"
Great Heavy Metal tune from the only Japanese band who had commercial success in the U.S. Look for the actual official MTV/VH1 video of this song for true appreciation. Small obscure fact - the Lead guitarist Akira Takasaki publicly challenged Eddie Van Halen to a guitar duel. Most likely for publicity. Although Eddie declined (nothing to prove) Akira was quite accomplished & they were virtually equal in talent.
I always heard the "You are the heroes tonight" line in the chorus as "Your mama she rules tonight" or "Your mama get loose tonight" until I looked up the lyrics. Kind of wish I hadn't looked up the lyrics now.
i was a kid and i remember you pulling this album out of your crates of records and telling us that we had to check this new band out. If you were still alive today i know u would post a comment here somewhere on one of these songs, so i will do it for u. R.I.P John Shackles
one of the few bands from other countries besides Germany that came to America to compete in the metal field. I always thought they were good. great guitar work!
@bambamh20 You are propably aware of it already but Japanese language does not have r in it. One example I can remember is trip which turns into tulip :)
Mindless Zombie Appetite, we fans, should make and acrnym ( i can't spell, back off LOL!) For M.Z.A. Due to the Loudness' epicocity! hehehe take care cx Thanks for the upload :D
Honestly now.....are these guys really any good? Don't get me wrong as I love metal. Everything from Megadeth, Manilla Road & Rage to Zeppelin to Priest and Maiden. While Loudness put out some ok riffs, their lyrics are knee-slapping cheesy and the vocals are 3rd rate at best. Not trying to hate........just don't get them.
@ledzep0620 You have to get used to them. I used to think the law of devils island was boring and theat the vocals didnt fit but now ive come to love it! As far as the lyrics its probably a translation issue as English is not their first language.
@ledzep0620 I believe lyrically they are weak., also English isnt their main languange. I just came out fresh from one of their concerts( 30th anniversary tour). Gotta say their live act is awesome. Vocally Minoru performed ultra excellent, cant believe he is 51 now? Dont compare his vocals with Rob Halford, thats no competition. For me, Minoru actually sings better than Bruce Dickinson. Comparing both studio and live performance. Bruce kinda becomes flat sounding when you compare vocally.
@malaimaren10 Finally someone has the balls to come out and say that Bruce Dickinson isnt the greatest fucking singer ever! Rob Halford is much better, even my friend whos favorite singer is Bruce told me that Halford is a better singer. Also Minoru is unique but for some songs you have to give him time.
I think Halford used to be a better singer than Bruce, but his voice is wearing out nowadays. Dio and Geoff Tate of Queensryche were both just as good, if not better than Bruce though. And Loudness ain't half bad either.
Dickinson is great but he's not the best vocalist I've ever heard in metal (that'd be Roy Khan). Still though, any good singer singing metal is a good thing, always.
@BLACKSABBATH0HM Hi! thought the same, till a friend has been backstage with uriah heep and bernie shaw told her, bruce is a singer, rob is a vocalist! Got that one but didn't know theres a difference.. and in fact, for me there isnt, just 2 guys fronting the 2 most awsome bands in the world. We don't need to talk about guitars and amps either, everyone got his settings and sound, and heavy metal they do!
@malaimaren10. thanks bro. I was in high school in 78-81 when Saxon, Diamond Head, Maiden, etc......were all coming out. Heard a bootleg of Loudness in 1980 so I bought "Birthday Eve" in 81. Didn't like it at all. Akira is a pretty fair shredder, so I gave em another chance with "Devil Soldier". Didn't like it either. I guess you're right tho, they're an acquired taste. I'm half Japanese myself so I can see why language could be an issue. Course, that didn't affect Scorpions or Accept!
@justanotherengine How are they different than 99% of all the bands out there right now? Every once in while, a new original band comes along. They get signed by a record label, puts out an album, gets crazy big, and a year later, there are 50 other bands out there that sound just like them. That's the way of the big record companies. Because they don't have the balls to sign original acts, they just sign bands that sound like some other band that sold 10 million records.
@ledzep0620 If you don't get it, keep your mouth shut. This album is more fun than any from the same genre. Keep it in the context of metal thrown in with some hair, and then maybe it makes more sense. It aint Priest or Megadeth fool. Also, keep in mind it's Japanese . . . . . somting tu drink??? Make sense now? Wok n Woll Crazy Nights!
@ledzep0620 i bought this due to akira takasakis first rate playing , then i was impressed with the songs too, this is one of the weak ones, cept for that solo,u need to check out the other songs from thunder in the east... run for ur life..heavy chains.. clockwork toy.. theyre all good really
@ledzep0620 It's the cheese that makes the lyrics great. I don't like any of the bands you listed except Megadeth. I guess I don't like serious metal.
@ledzep0620 You are expressing a serious sense of cultural ignorance here. They are Japanese and do not speak English very well, they were trying to be and American metal band, thus the lyrics in terrible pigeon English.
@ledzep0620 Hell no dude this singer has an incredible voice man. and how about you try to play some their leads. This band has a legitimate guitar god in their ranks man.
@ledzep0620 the trick to all the glam metal bands is that they were over-produced to try to maintain some sort of musicianship. Loudness was no exception.
Well, after doing some searching I see they are back together since 2000. See, living in America you have to search to hear about stuff like this now days. I'll have to find some of their new stuff to buy now.
@pokerkingTJQKA "...lock and loll clazy night...you all the heloes tonight" Seriously though, these guys took a genuinely American invention - "80's hair metal" - imitated it...and did a better job than many American groups!!!
Nostalgia laguni. Tak tau la macam mana aku boleh study STPM 1986 dengan lagu ni kat sebelah. Nasib baik lepas masuk U. Masih terbawak-bawak heavy masa awal kat U. Pernah kena tahan pak guard sbb pakai baju heavy metal.
"MZA means… nothing actually! Honestly, let me tell you that when we wrote the song Crazy Nights we didn't have lyrics. ... I just came up with the sound 'M.Z.A.' which was fine for preproduction. When we were actually recording the album we tried to figure out a line for the song instead of 'MZA.' We tried, but we couldn't find any good lines so Max Norman said we should forget about it and just use MZA. We didn't come up with a meaning for it either."

Roudness Locks

@pokerkingTJQKA "...lock and loll clazy night...you all the heloes tonight" Seriously though, these guys took a genuinely American invention - "80's hair metal" - imitated it...and did a better job than many American groups!!!

@pokerkingTJQKA Roudness? If you can pronounce the R then do so with "locks".

Nostalgia laguni. Tak tau la macam mana aku boleh study STPM 1986 dengan lagu ni kat sebelah. Nasib baik lepas masuk U. Masih terbawak-bawak heavy masa awal kat U. Pernah kena tahan pak guard sbb pakai baju heavy metal.

according to the singer:
"MZA means… nothing actually! Honestly, let me tell you that when we wrote the song Crazy Nights we didn't have lyrics. ... I just came up with the sound 'M.Z.A.' which was fine for preproduction. When we were actually recording the album we tried to figure out a line for the song instead of 'MZA.' We tried, but we couldn't find any good lines so Max Norman said we should forget about it and just use MZA. We didn't come up with a meaning for it either."
