  • @chubbychilli Ampinging mga bulak sa atong tanaman. Kay sa iyang alimyon kita magmalipayon. Ampinging mga bulak nga dili mataltag. Sa iya pagkalarag unya daghan nang maghilak. Ampingan ta gayud mahalon daw sa bulawan. Sapnayon ug duyanon sa atong mga bukton. Sa takna unya mapukan ang kahuyang. Mahanaw ang himaya. Mubalos ang luha.

  • @toiletholder THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH!!! :D Google translate tells me something about flowers (?) Oh i wish my mama taught me how to speak her language. :'(

  • Could someone PLEASE write/send me the lyrics so I can sing along?! I don't speak Filipino but I'm hoping to learn! :) I've tried to search online but nothing :(

  • @pikachuhatyu oh I get it. You're an imbicile who shoots his mouth off with nothing real to say. Thank you for clarfying that for us.

  • Perhaps we need a stylistic revival like Harry Connick Jr. or Michael Buble to revive classic music in an authentic style that preserves the aesthetic.

Equally as important are the revivals that update the music to help bring it to younger audiences like the recent APO revivals.

Preserve AND innovate. Filipino culture is beautiful, precious, and essential to our future. Mabuhay from San Francisco. Thanks for posting this song.

  • Mabuhay!

Cultural identity and pride is very important because we all must know where we come from to know where to go. National identity and coalition building is also important because we all share the world we live in and must work together to affect change.

  • hey, how about "Filipino" pride instead of a cebuano or tagalog or ilocano or bicolano or whatever bullshit pride?

  • @pikachuhatyu But why stop there? Why not promote Malayo-Polynesian pride and Austreonesian pride? Asian pride. Oceanic pride. Human pride. Pride is silly.

  • @pikachuhatyu Why is Filipino pride "bullshit" and Visayan or Ilocano etc. prides are not? It's the same thing. You have a feeling of belonging and happiness because you're connected to a specific group of people be it Filipino or Bicolano or Ilocano etc., at the exclusion of other groups.

  • @pikachuhatyu Correction: Why is Filipino pride not bullshit and Visayan or Ilocano etc. prides are?

  • @toiletholder you are bullshit teehee

  • Ahh one of my faves. Please could someone kindly post the lyrics up? I have tried to look online but to no avail :( Thanks in advance! CC

  • this doesnt sound spanish it sounds a folk song in philippines its bisaya pride not spanish hahahah

  • @summer11flora It does sound Spanish or for that matter European. When I play this music at work people ask me if it's German. They never think to ask that if it come from Asia. Change the lyrics to Spanish and it becomes a Spanish song. The tempo and melody are identifiably Spanish. If the melody and tempo were Chinese it would sound Chinese regardless of the language of the lyrics.

  • @toiletholder It's filipino folk song, will anyways long time ago Phils. was colonized by Spain right there and then Europen influence had speaded through out the Philippines islands...

  • @naturalbeaful Ampinging mga bulak sa atong tanaman

Kay sa iyang alimyon kita magmalipayon

Ampinging mga bulak nga dili mataltag

Sa iyang pagkalarag unya daghan nang maghilak

Ampingan ta gayud mahalon daw sa bulawan

Sapnayon ug duyanon sa atong mga bukton

Sa takna unya mapukan ang kahunyang

Mahanaw ang himaya mobalos ang luha

  • @naturalbeaful I'm basing that on what I can hear. I'm not fluent in Cebuano.

  • for TH I don't understand filipino, visayan, only chavacano (the spanish) lol. anyway youre saying that something cool in the USA 20 yrs ago seems to be badass in Filipinas true also in Mexico. But in South Texas there's Conjunto Music which we have listened to always. this is traditional and we keep it alive yes we are in USA but the gringos in So TX were not able to take away our language and traditions and we ended up blending together our foods and music.

  • love plita c visayan song thanks for uploading god bless u.

  • mucho gracias for the Visayan songs which we love to listen as we're already away from Cebu, Philippines. we love these all time favorite Visayan songs. it makes us recall our origin being Filipinos.

  • Nindota jud ug tingog aning Pilita oi..Proud filipina from Cebu

  • WOHOOOO!!!! ROCK ON PILITA!!!!

  • Thank you so much toiletholder for posting this song. I grew up listening to a good mix of music in Cebu. Visayan songs far outclasses the Tagalog songs but they were only aired in Cebu. They never got airtime in the Tagalog regions. We had the irreverent ones long before the Tagalog songwriters adapted the genre. I've been away for nearly 30 years but will always call Cebu home. I am not a lover of Philippine movies or a lot of its music but give me the old Visayan song any day.

  • when i said "you didn't even answered my last question academically" it doesn't mean you need to quote a textbook, lol! go back to your Philosophy 101. I'm so frustrated! i'm expecting a greater reasoning from you...

    dies nefastus ephexis!...

  • you know, we're all filipino at the end of the day, i'm just flabbergasted that people like you can't let go of our regionlistic views. a song is a song, but our blood is the same, just because we speak a different dialect doesnt make anyone better or second rate. i'm ashamed of people who try to divide us, that's why the Philippines is the way it is now!

  • A) We speak languages, not dialects. b) It is normal practice for Tagalogs to promote their own music to the rest of the world and the rest of the Philippines, while ignoring the other cultures of the Philippines. You can go to any Filipino store are find "The Best of OPM" and on a CD with such a title you'll only find Tagalog songs. OPM means "Original PILIPINO (not just Tagalog) Music."

  • I'm sure then that you're made sick by that too since you said you don't like those who try to divide the Philippines. Which Tagalog culture is blatantly doing. Anyway, listen to the complexity of the notes in the song!!! Now compare it to Katakataka, Bahay Kubo and other Tagalog folk songs. They simply don't compare. I wouldn't be so brazen as this as to be regionalistic but Visayan culture is obscured and suppressed by Tagalog culture. I'm trying to make that evident.

  • And please, it hardly looks good on you to use chliches like "at the end of the day." It take away from any clout your argument has. You, furthermore, shouldn't copy words (flabbergasted) that the person you're arguing with has used. It makes you look unintellgent and unoriginal.

  • Hala naglalis na sad ang mga pingak. Hahaha

  • lolz..whats pingak...

toiletholder FYI, its actually called dialect...

  • No. That's what most Filipinos think of them as. But if you study languages a "dialect" is a variation on a language: Portuguese from Portugal vs. Portuguese from Brazil. And English from England, U.S., Canada, and Australia are dialects of the english languages. They are still mutually intelligible and they can communicate using their native versions of the language. The distinction between languages requires that there is low to no mutual intelligibility.

  • toiletholder, sometimes some people use the word dialect to refer a language they consider as regional and inferior as compared to the language they speak. most of the time they don't speak this so called dialect. anyway, i found an affordable book to learn ilocano but not cebuano. how strange considering more filipinos speak it as a first language.

  • Now, if you're not absolutely sure about what you're FYIing a smart person with, don't FYI him. Thank you.

  • I think that it's amazing that I have ANY interest in my parent's language. I was born in Canada, my parents only ever spoke to me in English and there are no books on Cebuano. None that can make any ony fluent in it anyway. If anyone is trying hard, it's The Filipinos I meet here who think that liking "western music" makes them more sophisticated. They don't even know the meaning of the term "western."

  • bummerber and daucus2003 u guys are f uked

  • bummerbear and I were "f uked"? As thou hast said? Or should i say "truth" is lethal for you?!

  • f u king crab mentally let it go... who gives a s h it....stop putting other filipino down..and just mind your own business......

  • crashdata....telling the truth is not crab mentality.. "crab mentally" as thou hast said...ha ha ha!!!! hasta luego!!!

  • like the old saying goes "if you dont have anythng nice to say, don't say anything at all."

What your doing is criticizing and when u critisize someone your putting them down, hence "crab mentallity". your probably doing this because

a.) your insecure about yourself you can only feel better if you put someone else down.

    b.) your just jealous

  • Is that your definition of "crab mentallity

"?,, oh! i feel sorry for you about that...Let me ask you questions:

1.)Are judges of american idol possesing "crab mentallity"?,due to their humiliating criticism?..

2.)Are filipino concerned citizens possesing "crab mentallity"? for they exposed and criticise corrupt politicians?

  • man your thinking is skewed..

what is that to do with american Idol? people that go to that type of competitions expect criticism....

crab mentality has a broader diffinition...and this is tru one of them ,.."Pulling down someone who is in near success, who's achieving victory,and/or greatness"

but it could also mean just putting someone elase down......

  • and your second point does not make sense..

it would be the other way around citizins would be hte justice seeker (voicing the truth) and corrupt politician would be the 'crab mentality' because all they think about is how to gain monitary advancement while stealing from the 'citizen'.....and not everything is black and white... and its up to us to use proper judgement....

dont have to feel sorry for me...cause your arguments are childish and immature without a proper content... PEACE

  • childish and immature?!without proper content? then, why you did agree with my own definition of crab mentallity? read again my first comment, then proceed to our arguments, analyze it "intellectually".. You didn't even answered my last question academically,..also your answer to my first question was parallel to it...

PEACE also!!! i hope you don't take it personaly, its just only a friendly arguments..

  • this is my last post....this is not going anywhere..ok i'll make sure u can understand what I'm saying..but wait... are u reading ur argument? because it doesn't make sense....

1.) what do u mean "you didnt even answered my last question academically?" what does that even mean? do you want me to quote a text book?

2.) "also your answer to my first question was parallel to it"...

... Ok let me break it down: basically what i said your first question is irrelevant. (cont'd)

  • if you think about it like you said "intellectually". American Idol is a competition show where u have judges...judges job is to critisize, pick the peformance apart so to speak...what i'm saying is "YOUR QUESTION IS IRRELEVANT"

3.) "then, why you did agree with my own definition of crab mentallity?"

actually i did not agree I acknowledge it...and i said there is more to it than just your diffinition. in short: "crab mentallity" is open to many diffintion not simply black & white.(cont'd)

  • Bottom line: my argument is to prove that putting your kapwa filipino down can also be considered "crab mentallity"...(bad mouthing is bad).. what your doing is:

1.) your not minding your own business. (and as a filipino we should do this more often to avoid jealousy)

2.) and saying "your only telling the truth": does not mean you have a right to put your kapwa filipino down. its just like "making fun of a cripple person" it might be funny but its not right.

  • ONE MORE TIME: what i'm saying is:

PUTTING YOUR KAPWA FILIPINO DOWN IS BAD. no argument will make it right..

to end this argument i'll leave you with this note:

Romans 13:9 "Love your neighbour as yourself."

  • LOL! I fell from my chair laughing at your replies,"telling the truth" means putting "kapwa pilipino" down?! I'm proud to be pinoy,as a matter of fact,i will fight with those pretentious filipinos who will bring shame to my beloved country..As a concerned citizen,i will reveal and expose the truth,it has nothing to do with pulling "kapwa filipino" down, just to awake them,if i will keep silence it means i am supporting their decadence morality..the horrendum pudendum of contemporary philippines!

  • One of my favorite article was "The Heritage of Smallness"..written by Nick Joaquin..he elaborate, criticised, and explained the negatives of Philippine Society...,so,tell me my friend,is he possesing "crab mentallity"?

My definition of crab mentallity is this,.."Pulling down someone who is in near success, who's achieving victory,and/or greatness"..not by means of revealing and/or criticising hypocrisy...

Something to think about,...ha ha ha!

    Cogito ergo sum!!

  • she is like an american girl the past was very beautiful. filipinos before were very class!

  • No to racism.... no to homophobia and other forms of intolerance!

  • Linda Cancion!!!!!! Um...toiletholder,please post another songs of PILITA CORRALES especially in SPANISH VERSION....I Have 2 CD's of her Spanish Hits:Noche de Ronda and Vaya Con Dios(duet with AMADO del Paraguay).....

  • you're not alone =]

  • I agree with you toilet. It was the nationalistic (er..tagalog) movement which was imposed on us visayan's in the 70s that dealt burry songs like this to obscurity. At that time even two hundred year old household words such as "barrio" were replaced by a tagalog invention such as "barangay".

  • pilita, you're classic! very beautiful voice!

  • hola, ¿puedes enviarme algunas a mi correo-e ?

  • THIS IS WHAT WE CALL ART! PADAYON....

  • as primitive as your way of thinking? Your thoughts have no space here! JUST STAY TO THE CAVE WHERE YOU BELONG! AND RESERVE YOUR THOUGHTS TO BEINGS OF YOUR KIND...IDIOT!

  • You tell em xxjeduthngurlxx97!!! Such an imbecile huh..=>

  • i pity you with the way you have been raised...:(

  • It's ashame that racism amongst filipinos occur!

Anyone who discriminates His or Her fellow pinoy

    it's not a true pinoy!!!

  • lami kaayong pamation ning imong binisaya oy bisag tono ug pangaway. hihihi. gimingaw na hinuon kog maayo sa ato . aruuuuy

  • and yet you deign to actually type a comment such as that? poor thing.

  • excuse me but was that addendum meant for me?

My sarcastic comment was aimed directly at the racist Tique07. Too bad it landed in the wrong place...

    Pilita rocks! Visayans rock!

  • bwahahaha barang i havent heard that for a long time...hahahahha

  • doesn't matter if you speak tagalog or not.being a true filipino is being proud of your roots.

  • its fantastic..proud and loud to be a cebuano.

Viva PIlita . Mabuhay los filipinos..

  • Pilita Corrales is not a pure Spaniard.

She is mestiza. She is part-Filipino.

She has Filipino blood. And she is Bisaya!

    She is Filino!

  • Pilita never said she was a Spaniard, she always said that she was Cebuana. She was born and raised in Cebu City. Having a Spanish parents and speaking spanish is just incidental. anyway, in Spain, you are not considered a Spaniard culturally if you were not born in Spain.

  • I think that only her father was of Spanish descent. At least that's what she said on "Pilita: Live at the Riviera vol. 3" She said she was partial to Spanish songs because of this. I think she, otherwise, would have said my "parents" were of Spanish descent. I know that at home Pilita and her family spoke a mixture of Cebuano, English and Spanish. But Pilita seems to acknowledge her Cebuano heritage before anyother.

  • @muhellaf She's half Spanish/filipino

At Maraming Salamat Sa Pag Upload.

  • wow thats what a queen of song must be.... nice songs and very nive singer,,, pagka anindot mo kanta ni pilita,,,,

  • i thought pilita is half-white, she's actually pure spanish. a genuine pinoy...

  • i wish I understood was she was singing, it is really good :)

  • pagka-anindot kantang binisaya!

  • bisaya rocks!!!!!

  • nice song. i agree with you about the music. Rap sucks and almost all OPM is nothing more than a rip off of basic american love ballads. There is nothing unique about filipino music anymore. It's lost it's identity.

  • ¡Viva Pilita! ¿Por qué no es tan conocido mundialmente? Es maravillosa.

  • I'm not sure why. I know she has many albums in Spanish.

  • I just have a question: Are you a filipino??

  • Canadian-born Filipino. and i'm sad to say that I neither speak or understand Cebuano very well.

  • It's not too late to learn. Take a vacation there

  • wow ... can post tagalog songs also of Pilita Corrales or any spanish songs that she sang. i like to hear the filipino folk music that she sang.

  • Wow, thanks for posting. im cebuano and ive never heard of this song before.

  • YAY! Thanks for watching!
