Saddle feathers — the ones on the rooster’s bum — grow to optimal length for plucking, usually when the rooster is a year old. The animals don’t usually survive the ordeal, and even if they do, they’re euthanized afterward.

@livebreathehorses ... I recently read an article that said thousands of these roosters are euthanized in order to be plucked ... and the ones that aren't do not usually survive the plucking =(

I'm not trying to be a downer ... BUT ... Did you know that thousands of birds are EUTHANIZED for these feather hair extentions ... ?!?? ... Just to give you an example, one farm in Colorado "harvests" 1500 birds a week ... and that's just ONE week on ONE farm ... ... ... I'm not downing this trend but I hope people will look for another option instead of real feathers ... <3

they pluck these feathers from a rare endangered species of rooster. when asked to comment on the way they harvest the feather's, and if they kill the roosters to obtain them, the company said, "of course we don't kill them! the longer a rooster lives, the longer the feathers! we raise happy roosters on our own farms!" would you be a happy rooster if your feathers were being plucked out for hair extensions? no.

I ju had a few of these put in and I love them! I think they're a lot of fun. I'm a little annoyed with this video however, because everyone in the video is under 23. Those of us over 40? Not dead. Surprise! We like to have fun with our hair too you know.. Why not try featuring a variety of models with feathers - I think it looks good on pretty much any age!

Where can i buy these feathers like that to put in my hair?? is there a store where i can get ones like that from?? or like a hair place where i can go and get them done in my hair?? or can i buy them from an online website?? So if anyone knows any of that Please tell me Thanks : )) they are really cool i have to say!! p.s. i Live in New York City though and i want them

@Leilahorsey123 there is a site called birchbox where you can buy them! birchbox.com go to hair and they have a kit that costs $39 or just the featehers for $32. hope this helped!
