if someone had a crash like that today i can guarantee that next year there would be an extended tarmac runoff area and extra tires. There's no risk, no sense of "wow this is risky" anymore. I'm all for safety but added to the economic situation which leads to teams running away with the title, pirelli going back on their word and making bridgestone-esque tires and pulling out the safety car whenever it rains, I'm fast losing the love for F1 that used to excite me so much
@Kaizer147 it was. its no longer a challenge its been opened up since this accident. the first few bends are a bigger challenge now. and the spoon curve.
If you take a closer look, you can see that the car steeps out in die apex of the corner. Enge tries to correct it and directly loses control of the car.
@Togepi9876 yeah defo, i agree with u, and the car after the impact with the 2 wheels left on it, another reflection on the wreckage of Senna's car. RIP Ayrton
@Adam060198 mazzacane got sacked after 4 races, so luciano burti replaced him after he himself was replaced at Jaguar by de la rosa, alesi left to go to jordan to replace frentzen who was sacked at took alesi's seat at prost, lucian burti then had a massive accident at spa which put him out of action for the rest of the season so enge was drafted in for the final 4 races....phew XD
@CHERN0BYLCH1LD No he lost his F3000 title to Sebastien Bourdais because he was near someone smoking pot. I think he did try his luck in GP2 afterwards
Yes it really does look like Senna's crash with tyres but I thought the 2001 Prost ACER drivers were Mazzacane, replacement for Mazzacane Burti and Alesi
Hey, don't forget that one marshall died at Monza in 2000, and another one at Melbourne in 2001. We should never forget that.
These cars were very safe for the drivers, but that was very scary to see wheels flying everywhere at every single crash, and that was very unsafe for the persons very close to the action, like marshalls, photographs or even spectators.
It's good to see that a lot of improvements were made on that point.
This happened to Burti at spa same impact

The difference is that Senna hitted the wall without any sand around it on a speed of almost 300 km/h

@PSNpod And he crashed into a solid concrete wall instead of tyre barriers.

To me, the 130R is the scariest corner of F1 today

2001 was the year of the big crashes. In those years, between 2000 and 2002, they were very lucky that nobody got seriously injured.
