Been a PJ fan for 15+ years, and I have never heard this... How rare is it that you find a great, new song written by your favorite musician? Fucking awesome tune!
My eternal thanks to Ravi Shankar for telling me about Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan in 1971 at the Concert For Bangladesh. I was just 19, and today all I know is that I know nothing and everything. Love to India AND Pakistan from the citizens of the United States. We are not our government.

Pakistan was once the land of the pure. There was no corruption, No terrorism, Good pure people like Nusrat Existed.. Sad to see what my Country has become.
@maxrock2009 Mate, my heart bleeds for Pakistan. I was born on the other side of the border that has divided us for the last 60 years (out of 5000 years of existence). But I bear no ill-will to my brother on the other side. I now live in the EU and would love to see the border between India and Pakistan removed. If Europe could do it so soon after the world war 2, why can't we?
@guruofsex, after seeing yours and maxrock2009s comment I am reminded how these things start with simple folk who take the step toward friendship and how that is where the great healing starts. People like you warm my heart and give hope to all :)
@guruofsex It took two world wars for Europeans to realize they had only two alternatives: 1. get hate for each other out of their hearts, and that working together would benefit them more than them being separate. 2. destroy each other.
Fortunately we desis have not had to be hit with such a stark reality, but unfortunately we haven't learned that lesson. Hopefully some day soon we will. :)
@CharvakaJim I think we have fought enough wars (between India and Pakistan). But like you said, we never learnt the lessons. In the last seven months, we have again started some dialouge. Lers hope we make progress.
@maxrock2009 Yes..its a beautifull place being destroyed by a few twisted people and being misunderstood by most. One day I hope our countries can be one. Think about the awesome cricket team we would have :)

@tabrettologist Nusrat dedicated his life and art to Islam, but what sort of it?not something that u call murderous...because it can be in any other religion or ideology ....rest in peace
@tabrettologist well islam was not spread with death,,,,,u got to read a religion a bit more....islam's spread was propogated by the lack of violence it preached....all the best
@tabrettologist yes, and incorporate the great christian religion as it is equally used to colonize every non western country in the world for the past 600 years. Religion is a philosophy, a tool but often misused and abused. Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Budhism, Vodoo, Candomble, Palo Monte etc.. are not the problem. The people who abuse religion are the problem. George Bush is a great example!
@maxrock2009 The United States of America was once the land of the free, the home of the brave. A place where immigrants were welcome and diversity was celebrated. A place that was a beacon to the world. A place where good always triumphed over evil. As much as I still love my country, it IS very sad to see what it too has become. The world finds it all to easy to ignore voices like Nusrat Khan who sing about love and peace in the divine for all.
@maxrock2009 I hate turning youtube posts into political brawls, but sorry, Pakistan never was the land of the pure. If on the other hand you mean the land now known as Pakistan, sure, I agree with you there. I mean no offense, and I bear no ill-will, but the concept of "Pakistan" has always been synonymous with corruption and violence.
@maxrock2009 That's a bit sad to hear a Pakistani national say. If this guy is emblamatic of your country that is a great thing. I hope Pakistan can be what you believe it should once more!
"All the precious moments, all the memories going round, round, round. I have wished for so long how I wish for you today" This song perfectly embodies how brief our time here really is. All we have is now and much sooner than we realise, the time we have with our loved ones will pass into the ether and we'll be left longing for one more moment with them. We seldom see the beauty in our lives until it's too late.
Music makes all our differences cease to exist...music done by musicians and caring people, that is! There is no better example of the beauty and harmony we can create and share than this song.
I just love the lyrics. Apart from that the combination of Eddie Vedder and AFAK is so moving. It just tear one's heart out. I just have one word to describe - AWESOME!
U dont have to be from some specific part of the world to understand Nusrat's music!!! He was calestially touched! An enthralling voice which could mesmerise any living soul is enough i suppose!
so fuckin relaxing! Can't fuckin describe my fuckin emotions! After a whole fuckin busy and crappy day all you need is to relax in your bed and listen to beautiful music like this! Fuckin Perfect!
I wish, I can share the feel of magic in music of Nusrat Fatih Ali Khan with western people. But for this, they have to born in Pakistan, learn the Urdu / Punjabi language, and rise in qawali, folk singing culture, with simiplicity of suifism, and people around them. Only then they can grasp the magic of NFA Khan.
I am a Westerner who has never been to the Orient, but I still love Nusrat´s music. I think music is a universal language which transcends all barriers of culture etc. You don´t have to be German to appreciate Bach, for instance . . .
This song holds a special place in my heart, since it was it which first piqued my interest in the incomparable wonders of Indian subcontinental music. Since then I´ve listened to more than five hundred hours (I kid ye not!) of music from this exalted and unbelievably rich tradition - and there´s still much, much left to discover in its oceanic depths . . .
I have the album. The title is "The Long Road". When you check the track listings online, it only lists the track as "Long Road". So I guess we are both right.
