  • My eternal thanks to Ravi Shankar for telling me about Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan in 1971 at the Concert For Bangladesh. I was just 19, and today all I know is that I know nothing and everything. Love to India AND Pakistan from the citizens of the United States. We are not our government.

  • @mrmagdziarek It's a tabla I believe.

  • @mrmagdziarek It's called a tabla. And the accompaniment which sounds accordion like is a harmonium.

  • soothing!

  • This brings tears to my eyes.

  • Both these guys sing from a place somewhere deep within, a place that not many know about.

This is heavy music!!! heavy with emotions and feeling. Not that loud noisy stuff people listen to these days

Johnny

  • I REALLY like this version! Stunning!

  • Pakistan was once the land of the pure. There was no corruption, No terrorism, Good pure people like Nusrat Existed.. Sad to see what my Country has become.

  • @maxrock2009 sad to see what the world has become :(

  • @maxrock2009 Mate, my heart bleeds for Pakistan. I was born on the other side of the border that has divided us for the last 60 years (out of 5000 years of existence). But I bear no ill-will to my brother on the other side. I now live in the EU and would love to see the border between India and Pakistan removed. If Europe could do it so soon after the world war 2, why can't we?

  • @guruofsex, after seeing yours and maxrock2009s comment I am reminded how these things start with simple folk who take the step toward friendship and how that is where the great healing starts. People like you warm my heart and give hope to all :)

  • @guruofsex people like you are hope for humanity, love from pakistan

  • @guruofsex It took two world wars for Europeans to realize they had only two alternatives: 1. get hate for each other out of their hearts, and that working together would benefit them more than them being separate. 2. destroy each other.

Fortunately we desis have not had to be hit with such a stark reality, but unfortunately we haven't learned that lesson. Hopefully some day soon we will. :)

  • @CharvakaJim I think we have fought enough wars (between India and Pakistan). But like you said, we never learnt the lessons. In the last seven months, we have again started some dialouge. Lers hope we make progress.

  • @maxrock2009 Yes..its a beautifull place being destroyed by a few twisted people and being misunderstood by most. One day I hope our countries can be one. Think about the awesome cricket team we would have :)

-A friend from another side of the same coin

  • @maxrock2009 @maxrock2009 Yes..its a beautifull place being destroyed by a few twisted people and being misunderstood by most. One day I hope our countries can be one. Think about the awesome cricket team we would have :)

-A friend from another side of the same coin

  • @maxrock2009 Pakistan is still Pakistan, just need some good leaders. :/

  • @tabrettologist I think you have never studied history of other religions. Go ahead and read more you'll be surprised.

  • @tabrettologist Nusrat dedicated his life and art to Islam, but what sort of it?not something that u call murderous...because it can be in any other religion or ideology ....rest in peace

  • @tabrettologist well islam was not spread with death,,,,,u got to read a religion a bit more....islam's spread was propogated by the lack of violence it preached....all the best

  • @tabrettologist yes, and incorporate the great christian religion as it is equally used to colonize every non western country in the world for the past 600 years. Religion is a philosophy, a tool but often misused and abused. Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Budhism, Vodoo, Candomble, Palo Monte etc.. are not the problem. The people who abuse religion are the problem. George Bush is a great example!

  • @maxrock2009 looser for you have lost hope

  • @maxrock2009 The United States of America was once the land of the free, the home of the brave. A place where immigrants were welcome and diversity was celebrated. A place that was a beacon to the world. A place where good always triumphed over evil. As much as I still love my country, it IS very sad to see what it too has become. The world finds it all to easy to ignore voices like Nusrat Khan who sing about love and peace in the divine for all.

  • @maxrock2009 I hate turning youtube posts into political brawls, but sorry, Pakistan never was the land of the pure. If on the other hand you mean the land now known as Pakistan, sure, I agree with you there. I mean no offense, and I bear no ill-will, but the concept of "Pakistan" has always been synonymous with corruption and violence.

Either way, let's enjoy the great Desi music. :)

  • @CharvakaJim fuck you indian scum

  • @maxrock2009 That's a bit sad to hear a Pakistani national say. If this guy is emblamatic of your country that is a great thing. I hope Pakistan can be what you believe it should once more!

  • @maxrock2009 yea in 1947

  • @nomikhan13 THE WORLD..!!

  • "All the precious moments, all the memories going round, round, round. I have wished for so long how I wish for you today" This song perfectly embodies how brief our time here really is. All we have is now and much sooner than we realise, the time we have with our loved ones will pass into the ether and we'll be left longing for one more moment with them. We seldom see the beauty in our lives until it's too late.

  • this song always breaks my heart in such a good way. My emotions always go to sad/beautiful places...

  • no need to say goodbye ......

may you rest in peace Joan young soul, so many of miss you and your caring heart.

  • @ Impertube

U dont have to be from some specific part of the world to understand Nusrat's music!!! He was calestially touched! An enthralling voice which could mesmerise any living soul is enough i suppose!

  • Totalieee agree with kariaudar.....music is one language that every one can understand....

  • so fuckin relaxing! Can't fuckin describe my fuckin emotions! After a whole fuckin busy and crappy day all you need is to relax in your bed and listen to beautiful music like this! Fuckin Perfect!

  • @kreeepyy Could you say Fuck one more time? LOL :)

    I agree though :)

  • the best version of the long road on you tuve. Thanks for uploading.

  • The emotion in this blows me away

Nusrat Fatih Ali Khan what a loss for this world

  • Just a solemn reminder of Gods beauty. Bless.

  • Nusrat we all miss u n stil love u.........!

I wish we could enjoy alot more of him...

But what he has given to us is immortal!

  • I wish, I can share the feel of magic in music of Nusrat Fatih Ali Khan with western people. But for this, they have to born in Pakistan, learn the Urdu / Punjabi language, and rise in qawali, folk singing culture, with simiplicity of suifism, and people around them. Only then they can grasp the magic of NFA Khan.

  • @impertube:

I am a Westerner who has never been to the Orient, but I still love Nusrat´s music. I think music is a universal language which transcends all barriers of culture etc. You don´t have to be German to appreciate Bach, for instance . . .

  • This song is just amazing... love the combination

  • two masters at work

  • premodern and postmodern integration?

  • one of the best combination in the world..........we will miss nusarat. Eddie vedder is simply tight....

  • @naveenmamta mmmmmm sooooooooo very tight

  • Comment removed

  • i would!

  • nusrat fateh ali khans voice can melt you .....together with eddie vedder, it just finishes you off.....so emotional

  • Greattttttt

  • The movie is now on............. I was thinking looking several minutes. and then. the voice from Eddie Vedder.................. o.m.g.

  • Legend we miss u

  • Eddie is awesome! The movie was great. TY!

  • Takes me somewhere out of the world....

  • such a beautiful mixture of the best of music from the two ends of the world.

  • Great song...wonderful voice and arrangement

  • This song holds a special place in my heart, since it was it which first piqued my interest in the incomparable wonders of Indian subcontinental music. Since then I´ve listened to more than five hundred hours (I kid ye not!) of music from this exalted and unbelievably rich tradition - and there´s still much, much left to discover in its oceanic depths . . .

  • Holding hands are daughters and sons

And their faiths just falling down, down, down, down...

I have wished for so long

How I wish for you today

  • And I wished for so long, cannot stay...

All the precious moments, cannot stay...

It's not like wings have fallen, cannot stay...

But I feel something's missing, cannot say

  • I love this version over Rahat ali kahns version.

  • A legend from the East and a legend from the West.

  • awesome!

  • vraiment chouette

  • very nice.

  • heartbreaking

  • nusrat fateh ali khan (late) pride of pakistan

  • was this the last song sung as the titles rolled

  • eddie vedder is so cool

  • The song is called "Long Road" not The Long Road

  • I have the album. The title is "The Long Road". When you check the track listings online, it only lists the track as "Long Road". So I guess we are both right.

  • @guruofsex both of you are fucked up ! !

  • @guruofsex The truth is that is a cover of a song named 'Long Road' by Pearl Jam. In the soundtrack it's named "The long road'. Yes, you're both right :).

  • what the big deal?????

  • excuse me?

  • was just sayin u guys are having a debate on the name of the song... "long road" or "the long road" who cares????

  • well first of all mind your own business, and second of all, you might have noticed that our commments came many months ago. so obviously you must care more then enough to comment on our conversation.

  • Well 1st of all!!! the comments are made public for the ppl to see... thats why they have a "reply" button 2nd of all i dont care when the comment was made... i have a right to say it was a pathetic comment or not!!! if u dont want a response dont make a stupid comment....

  • Well seeing as how you seem to want some sort of a verbal fight, I'd say you are the pathetic one. I love making sure fruity online geeks like you know that in the real world no one probably likes you, and thats why you spend so much time online reading comments from people you don't, and trying to insult them and their comments. But don't worry bud, I'm sure your mother loves you and thinks your a cool guy

  • beautiful and painful at the same time. RIP Ustad...
