  • I watched the show, and I totally enjoyed it. Ignore the sucking storyline, the songs are perfect

  • It seems my search for the actual Coney Island Waltz from the turn of the century is going to be ruined by this having the same damn name. Unless... does anybody know if ALW used the original piece of music in composing this?

  • If you watch the phantom of the opera movie you will notice that when the young madame giry goes to the freak carnival the music there seems a lot like the coney island waltz

  • check out my channel for new coney island construction feb 2011, i made 2 videos of it and will be making more :)

  • The scream at the end is so haunting!

  • was this in a movie...... please say yes :D

  • @JoBroDancer No, it's in the West-End stage musical 'Love Never Dies'.

  • Queston: is the footage from the real Coney Island?

  • @PhantomoftheOperaOG Sure is! <3

  • This video is really cool I love your clips. Also the horse track is the best ride on there.

  • It's a haunting melody....0:53-0:54 - indescribable. HOW did he pull THAT off?

  • Like this, I bet the movie is good.

  • This is the BEST part of the whole show, it's seriously absolutely brilliant.

I can't wait to go see it for a second time!!

  • Amazing show loved it. All the people slagging it off who havnt even seen it need to go see it.

With west end shows mainly jukebox musicals (Just seen an advert for Flash dance the musical) thank god for Andrew lloyd Webber

  • Great Video!

    :D

  • Lloyd Webber ГЕНИЙ )))

  • does any one else think of thunder and blazes when they hear how this is arranged? it just seems appropriately similar.

  • This must be Lloyd Webber's answer to THE CAROUSEL WALTZ, but not as melodic as Richard Rodgers. As this new peice reaches it's final climax it's cut short by a SCREAM, similar to the Factory whistle cutting short the opening prelude of Sondheim's SWEENEY TODD. Two great inventions from the American Musical Theatre.

  • It it just me or are bits of this vaguely reminiscent of the music that plays in the PotO movie when Madame Giry tells her story? I can't even pinpoint an exact point in the song, its just here and there. It would make sense, though.

  • completely agree from 0.49, Madam Giry speaks of the traveling fair in the movie, its exactly the same music.

  • @pippy204 Haha, it's actually not at all.

  • When do you think they will realize there will be a market for a music box with this wonderful tune in it.....Da Da De...Da Da Da Da De

  • this musical is amazing DONT KNOCK IT UNTIL YOU'VE SEEN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The music is nice. The scene at 0:49 kinda upset me though.

  • I am interested to see how this turns out. I love the phantom of the opera, but I can't see how they can make a sequel. This piece of music is beautiful.

  • I don't know how I feel about a sequel, as I believed the first ended so perfectly, but I'll still end up seeing it.

  • but the movie version had a different ending making a sequel more believeable

  • has echos of Aspect of Love if you ask me...

  • It's so-so. To be honest it would have been better if Andrew Lloyd Webber had written a different musical to this.

  • I adore this music. I have a huge Phantom phan, I can't tell you how important the show is to me. I've got my ticket for 20th Feb, 1st preview night. I am sooooooo excited!!

  • ...is jealous.

  • @phantomphanatic86 I'm going early March, so excited!

  • When you really think about it, Coney Island has the Phantom's infouence written all over it!

That was a fantastic little montage they put together, and the music really fit it perfectly! I have had lots and LOTS of doubts about this sequel for a long time....but, if nothing else, it's looking pretty good to me at this stage.

  • i really wish i could have been there on october 8th... that was my birthday, too. it would have made the most wonderful gift. i'm a little skeptical about this, considering it's a sequal, and sequal's are always to be skeptical about, but i must say the music is something i love. how could i not? it's andrew lloyd webber!

  • i was at the launch it was brilliant like u i was skeptical before then i went to the launch and now i cant wait.

  • In all honesty I'm really not sure about the musical but I really like this score and I loved the accompanying video.

  • My sentiments exactly!!!

I must say however, that I rather like this music...if it were in another musical it would probably be even better.

  • Sounds awesome, can't wait!!! If only I can get my dad to fly me to London...

  • I like this track. It's eerie with some poignancy and romance in there. I LOVE that it has teasers in there from the original too! As heard appropriately in the scene when Mde. Giry first meets the Phantom (in the movie). I wonder if the "freak show" set in Coney Island will be anything like in the movie. I'm very curious about this sequel to see what they do with it. But I'm also somewhat skeptical.

  • did you see the pics in the telegraph magazine last weekend, they had pics of some costumes and the set looks great it has the shy scrapers of coney island and a rollercoaster all around the back of the stage,im going to see it on friday 26th cant wait to see it for real, one of the characters has a tatooed face like darth maul from star wars

  • I agree, this sounds ok, but I don't know about the rest of the story it sounds..well...meh. It may open big because people are curious to see how it turns out, but most sequels just aren't as good.

  • If the rest of the show sounds like this, I'll be willing to consider this, because I do like this piece. However, I'm really unenthusiastic about this show in general. There has never been a successful musical sequel onstage, and one would do well to remember that.

  • True, however there has never been a show as successful as Phantom has been. People flood to see any new Star Wars movie regardless and they'll do the same for this just 'cos it's a Phantom sequel

  • Absolutely brilliant! You don't need the title to tell you you're at Coney Island! This music is just fantastic. It hints at mystery; mystery that happened long ago and has been lost in history, but mystery that can be uncovered in the play.

Andrew Lloyd Webber is taking a big risk with this; it better be good. And it sounds good so far!

  • so excited....

  • I so wish I could see this!

  • I really do hope this production will work.

While I've never doubted Webber's abilities as a composer, his shows since the 80s have been a decline on his old work. I have not seen a lot in recent years that suggests to me this show will be any different, or that it isn't just a money making scheme to cahs in on his biggest success, just like Lucas' Star Wars prequels were

  • I think it sounds romantic and a bit eerie.

  • AHHH!!!!!!! Phantom of Manhattan!

haha I see Luna Park and Steeplechase? Social Studies helps :)

Sigh...wish I could see Love Never Dies!

    <3 Erik

Gonna go on a faze over this for the next few hours and possible days...

  • Oh wow!Cant wait for Love Never Dies!

  • isn't this just a slighty different keyed/extended version of 'Madame Gery's tale' music avaliable on the 'Phantom' compelete film soundtrack? It sounds sort of similar in parts of it and different in others....?

  • There's definitely a similarity....Webber's never been one to let a good tune go to waste:) I also heard a little phrase from The Woman in White in there.

  • Yeah, I reacted the same way when I listen to it! You're totaly right... but it still sound beautiful and mysterious!

  • Yep. ALW samples his own music in all of his productions. He sometimes samples other people's music too.

I think it's a lame composition compared to what he did for Phantom.
