  • Dear Seth Jensen,

The actual title of Soupy's first kids tv comedy show was"12 O'Clock Comics"which was seen weekday afternoons on WXYZ TV Ch.7 in Detroit,Mi. Later that series was seen in Detroit and on ABC TV as"Lunch With Soupy Sales".

  • He was and still a truly talented, creative and sweet and kindly man..he was also my dearest friend.(Crying)I Still Miss Him!

  • @TheStanbabe He really did seem like a very sweet kind person. Shame I never got to meet him. Was a dream of mine to receive a pie in the face from the master of pies in the faces. But the best I can do is this tribute. Thank you for your comment. It's a privilege to hear from someone who knew Soupy. He is well missed by his fans. :(

  • Pie in the face gets me everytime......lol :)

  • Congrats! This video has been awarded the "Pies Equals Comedy" Channel's Blue Ribbon of Excellence for representing and upholding the very best of the slapstick humor tradition. Excellent job!

  • You need to make more videos like these! I miss seeing your pie in the videos! They're fantastic!

  • Mel brooks is also getting up there shame . .(

  • I know. He's ooooooooooold.

  • I'm curious Shane.

When did you first discover pie in the face commedy?

The first time I discovered it was

when I bumped into a movie called "The Great Race!"

    Didja ever see that movie?

It had a huge pie fight scene it, it was just huge!

Someday I'd like to make a movie where I double that pie fight!

Only I have to agree I think pie in the face commedy is my fav joke too & I think this is one of your best vpie in the face videos!

Nice tribute to Soupy Sales too

    Good Buddy!:)

  • Yes, I have seen The Great Race. Awesome movie. I first discovered pie in the face comedy when I was real little, four years old or so, when I saw it on Sesame Street and the Electric Company. Good times.

  • I think peoples taste in comedy is extremely subjective.. if you look at comedy as a whole it really doesnt change that much, we have glimpses of genius throughout history that seem to rise above the usual constraints of comedy..(morality,public opionion etc) i equaly find laurel and hardy as breath takingly funny as i do the simpsons or the office of today.. they all have quality that speaks to our humour deep inside.. you cant argue with someones take on comedy because its a personal taste.

  • Soupy usually had scripts, but he did adlib a lot, too. As for tastes of comedy, I believe it has in fact changed drastically over the years. They don't make comedy like they used to and I miss the way comedy was in mainstream in years past. I can't like any of today's comedy at all, it does absolutely nothing for me.

  • Your a very nice guy shane.. so please u can ignore this if u like.. but i just have to correct u slightly.. when you were talking about soupies quotes.. and he was talking about being spontaneous.. you thought it meant to adlib.. i think you might be wrong there.. i think he was saying the EXACT opposite.. that it LOOKS!! adlib but is actually very well thought out.. and the ART!! is in making people BELEIVE!! its adlib.. again.. i could be wrong myself.. but thats my take on it.. smurf on dude

  • Howdy Shane - a nice tribute to a lost American icon, and the pie in the face is great! Many thanks.

  • back when comedy was good? i think present day comedians are hilarious, dave chappelle, dane cook, louis black

  • I have to disagree. Comedians these days use nothing but smut and bad language in today's comedy, not to mention next to no slapstick. Comedy back in the golden era was much more cleaner and family friendly. We don't see that in comedy anymore.

  • I'm glad you enjoy the video, Tom, and that it makes you laugh. That is exactly what I'm going for. :)

  • lol!!!! this is so funny!!!!

  • Nice tribute. =) I saw it when you posted it, but I didn't say anything. I remember seeing him on TV years ago.

  • Hi shane I remember soupy sales he was a great person brought alot of laughter to us all and the children.

  • Hey im not sure

    who Soupy Sales is ):

    maybe because im from england?

Anyways i love your videos (:

Lol i hope you cleaned up

  • I just realised he was on The Judy Garland Show in the 60's. That was a great show: and that particular episode featured two great, but different legends that are timeless and will never be forgotten.

  • Great tribute :)

  • I love his topless dancer pranks. Only because I'm a fan of topless dancers. =^)

  • I know so much people would love to do that.

  • Great for you to take a pie in the face in honor of a man who may have taken more pies in the face than anyone else in history. He'd already taken 19K+ in the face by 1965, according to a TV Guide article back then.

  • Thank you very much. :)

  • No problem, Tom. I just had to mention you two. It was after seeing your two videos that I decided to make a tribute video of my own.

  • What do you mean you can't believe you did that? I'd think that if anyone would be doing that, it'd be you.

  • Dude, do you take everything so seriously like that? Sheesh.

  • The way the pie spread and stuck to your face whilst you were talking was pricelessly funny. Great video Shane.

  • It's a great effect, isn't it? I'm glad it turned out good. Thank you very much. :)

  • lol i never leave comments but...i have to say thats awsome, your a true fan shane :)

  • You should leave comments some more, so that I know which videos you've seen. Well thank you very much, I really appreciate it and I'm glad you enjoyed the video. :)

  • Awesome, Shane.:) I don't think you could've paid tribute to him more than what you did there. Sadly, I'd never even heard of Soupy Sales until you told me he'd died, but I'm sure he was a legend, and he will be missed.

  • Thank you, Mark. Being the huge pie in the face fan that I am, I just HAD to do a tribute video and take a pie in the face in his honor. Too bad you have never heard of him before. He certainly was a legend. I'll send you a link to a video about him and you can see some of his pie hits.

  • oh ok thats why your in the bath room, easy clean up =} lol great job loved it.. R.I.P. Soupy Sales ={

  • Yeah, I wasn't sure what kind of mess that was going to make, so I felt that it was best if I sat on a tiled floor.

  • Great tribute video Shane.

  • HAHAHAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAH!

  • I knew you would love this.

  • I remember him. Very sad, unfortunately the best can't live forever.

  • I know, that is very true.

  • HAHHAHAHAHAHH...thats sooooooo funny...The crust looks like cardboard..!!

Good for you dude..I hope you didnt use shaving cream.....BLEEAACCk

  • Thank you, Julie. That was actually gramcracker crust, and I did in fact use shaving cream. I prefer real whipped cream, but it's actually cleaner and cheaper to use shaving cream. Next time I do this I may use real.

  • Great video

  • ha ha the best bit 4:03 you laughing with the pie in your mush!!

    great vid shane,made my day!!

  • Thank you very much, Simon. This video was a lot of fun to make and was completely appropriate for such a wonderful pie in the face comedian. Now you know why I love having my Pierre and Andre characters pie in the face comedians so much. :D

  • Hahaha- omg Shane I laughed so hard when you threw the pie in your face, your awesome brotha. That was a great tribute, I gotta keep replaying this - you did Soupy proud :)

  • Thank you very much, Ryan. I knew you would love this. Hitting myself with a pie just seemed like the right thing to do in honor of Soupy Sales. He will be missed very much. Thank you very much for watching. :D

  • You are awesome! I loved it. You have a good heart and it's always a pleasure to see what you are going to do/say next. Keep doing what you do best Shane...be yourself!!

  • Thank you very much for the kind words, I really appreciate it. I sure will keep being myself and do what I'm doing. That is the best advice to give anyone and I always give the same advice myself. Thanks again.

  • Awesome that pie crust looked delicious as well :)

  • Haha. Great video. Love the ending...

  • Me too, thanks. :D

  • Definitely a fitting tribute to a great comedian. He will be missed.

  • Oh yes, definitely. No better tribute to such a wonderful pie in the face comedian than taking a pie in the face myself at the end of the tribute. Thanks very much, Chris.

  • cool vid.

  • wow, thank you for mentioning me big youtube partner.. i do all my youtube vids with no scrips like soupy did..just let put on the wigs and voices with an idea and let the camera roll for fun! thanks again sending this to all my subs!

  • No problem, John. I actually found your video in the related section when watching my good buddy Tom's Soupy tribute. I think between the three of us, we did Soupy proud. No better way to honor his great memory than to take pies in our faces after saying some kind words about Soupy.

  • great vid...thanks.

  • I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.

  • Very nice tribute Shane!:-)I laughed so hard when you threw a pie at yourself! Ha,ha! THANKS I needed that!

I watched 3 Stooges today 2 episodes with them throwing pies at everyone!LOL!

  • I knew you would love this. That is the whole point of pies in the face, making people laugh. I'm glad I succeeded with that.

  • The only thing that would've made this better is if you found someone else and you dressed up as Pierre and Andre LOL that would've been awesome.

  • Oh yeah, being pied as dressed as Pierre would have been great. But for another video maybe. This one was special for Soupy. Glad you enjoyed the pie bit. :D

  • Great tribute to good ole Soupy! This video made me smile on a really horrible day, so thank you so much for this! I am really glad you did it right by including the crust... it's just not as funny when people just fill a pan with whipped cream and don't include the crust! What I'd really like to see is you doing a proper cream pie... maybe chocolate cream? (crust - chocolate pudding - whipped cream - cherry) Mmmmm delicious.

  • I'm glad I brought you some laughter on a day that wasn't so good for you. I'm sorry to hear you were having a bad day. Always nice to know that my work can make someone else happy. I agree with you about the quality of the pies, they must have crust. It's not that funny when it's just cream. One of these days I really would love to use a real pie like from a bakery with chocolate filling and a cherry. Someday I will, and of course it will be on video.

  • I don't usually care for the pie in the face but yours was funny as hell lol.

  • Hehehehe.... Thanks. I really appreciate that. It's nice to know that I was able to pull off a good pie in the face and make other people laugh. Thank you for watching. :D

  • LOL! Great job Shane.

  • Thank you very much. I knew you would love this. LOL

  • Yes shane, I dont know you in person but I know you love taking pies to the face :)

  • Always great fun. :)

  • What do you mean ruined with extended intro? These type of videos are difficult for me and it was really late at night.

  • Very cool video Shane. Soupy made the pie in the face an art form. Good comedy from a good man. I also agree "when comedy was good" i love that comedey and i love the 80's comedy - for the most part other comedy is just dull. Have a good week bub.

  • Thank you very much, he sure did and will be missed. 80s comedy was also good. It seems everything in the entertainment industry peaked in the 80s and it's been a downhill slope ever since.

  • Really nice tribute video, Soupy would be proud.

Did you do that in your bathroom, mus have been messy?

  • Thank you very much. I'm sure Soupy would be proud knowing that people are taking pies in the face in his honor. Yes, this was in the bathroom. lol. I wasn't sure what kind of mess that would make and didn't want to chance getting pie all over my couch.

  • It's so sad that Soupy Sales died. Great tribute Shane.

  • It sure is sad, he will be missed. Thank you very much for watching.

  • I always heard that name, but I don't think I've seen anything with him in it.

  • Do a search on YouTube for Soupy Sales, there is some great videos on here of some of his material. Good classic stuff.

  • Never heard of him.

  • Google his name or search Soupy Sales on YouTube for videos of some of his material. It's good classic stuff.

  • First comment wooo!
