@warheart454 Have you checked out our band, Deadtide, man? That's where our finished full compositions exist.
I've got some already composed material that could easily cover 5 mins. Those need a little more work, though. Phil (ChromeCelica00) usually makes his a little shorter... somewhere between 3-4 mins.
@bodom1376 Thanks, man! I'd love to, especially since Phil (Chrome) got really nice new equipment to make videos with. I miss playing guitar. I haven't picked up my own in a year since I've got vocal duties. That's scary, considering I used to play for up to 11 hours a day. :[
@blackened138 I've played for about that long maybe a few times but I just need to get some lessons in. I've hit a rather annoying road block haha. Well then I can't wait to hear some combinations of your vocals and his riffs!
@xGUITARZEROx Drop B, I believe. If you have a Line 6 Spider III you're set. You don't need a pedal and you'd probably be really disappointed with any "grunge" pedal. I've never played one I thought was good. Hope this helps!
Thanks. ChromeCelica00 was using a Marshall MG15 I believe (or something really close to that) and I was using a Crate 15 watt practice amp. The crate is a piece of crap. We're using Digitech Metal Master pedals in this video... that's why it sounds good haha. It's a sick pedal to really boost the distortion on your amp.
thanks man! well im off to school now so bye! loooool =) when i get my camera, im gonna post some vids up of me playing so if u wanna watch, just click on ma name lol (the vids wont be here until after christmas) =P
Wow, you look exactly how would picture my hero [if I had one]. You have brutal growls/screams and you are an excellent guitarist. Thank you for being alive.
I definitely will... I've been having trouble thinking of a subject matter for it... all I can think about is vikings hahah and I have no interest in writing about them. I'm stumped and need some suggestions to get me thinking differently.
Just a heads up..if you are ever going to harmonize in octaves, it is more efficient to have one guitarist using an octaver pedal whilst the other guitarist harmonizes in either thirds or fifths, and if you wish throw in an augmented or diminished thirds/fifths too! Good job
hey i subed to your friend chrome, im going to sub to you too man. you both are really great, and oh yeah he told me to wish you happy b day. so happy b day man, keep up with the guitar, you guys have real tallent that is ahrd to come to find now. all this damn hip hop sht...
For the most part, I definitely agree... the recording engineers and studio musicians do most of the work. However, man, before I die, I want to come out with an R & B / hip hop song and make it really radio friendly and try to get it popular so I can show how easy it is for someone who doesn't write this type of stuff to do and show how much more talent it takes to do the stuff metal requires.
we're workin on that... we have a song written by chrome and i (he did the guitars, i did the lyrics and vocals)... he's got the full guitar composition posted on youtube, but there are no vocals. i'm thinkin about just rippin the audio from the vid with the best quality on here and giving at least a vocal preview to all of our fellow metalheads/subscribers. i'm gonna go through with it when i get my toneport ux2 back from chrome/my other guitarist.
actually i have a song i wrote a while ago intended for our band, but the vocals were terrible cause after being in college for a while with nowhere to practice. i also plan on reworking it because i'm not happy with all of the riffs in it. until then i can't redo vocals unfortunately.
after playing music by our favorite bands, we just naturally play in their styles with our own twist. our favorite style of music is melodic death metal... especially from sweden.
you need to do the same... learn some songs by your favorite bands to understand how to write guitar riffs in the style of metal you're looking to play. at first, your riffs will sound very generic and close to riffs of the bands you like. keep messing around with riff ideas until you come up with unique material.
if anything you write sounds too much like someone else's riff, discard it and try again. don't take the easy way out like all these new bands do. a good way to get a different sound is to record multiple guitars over one another. like for example you could have two lead riffs (a melody and a harmony) harmonized in thirds, and a rhythm riff (heavy power chords or other chords) to create a background rhythm.
and thanks for the support! we appreciate your feedback!
I, myself, do not have anything new out, however, my friend Phil (the guitarist on the right in this video) does. He comes out with new videos all the time. He's very popular on here. His username is Chromecelica00. Check out his videos and tell him what you think!
if i may suggest, the last riff section should have 3 or four different tones making it more colour and not the same one over and over, hope you understand
You could play the first riff again but just take out the REST and combine the whole thing so there is no cut out...have it be a second verse or something
well they're just two random riffs put together to make a new video... so it's not set in stone. thanks for the suggestion, dude...it's definitely a possibility.
hahaha thanks dude. everyone seems to be hatin on me for not updating regularly. it's great to know you like em tho. if i come up with something i like sometime soon then i'll add it. there's a really good chance it'll be both phil and i in the vid since i haven't been playing guitar nearly as much as i used to (record is 11 hours straight a bunch of times) and he needs to prod me to pick up my guitar as of late.

Nah, I never tabbed it out... I'd say ask Chrome... he wrote it... but he gets wayyy to many people commenting and messaging him now.
It's a really simple riff tho... try figuring it out... we were tuned to drop b in this video.

just a suggestion here...
maybe get rid of the pause in the intro riff and add some extra palm muted notes, unless you plan to have it filled in with something else
poppunkcansucka20 4 years ago
i appreciate your suggestion...but why do that?
it puts a different spin on the riff. adding more palm mutes in between makes it more predictable and generic.
if it were to be made into a song...there would be drums and maybe some synth behind it anyway

alright that works
