  • Someone who can spend $106,000 on a car can spend $162,000. Corvettes? they're everywhere. I think I've seen one GT-R since they've been out.

  • If you think 160k for 5hp more is wrong than your probably right, but then you know nothing about engineering. i have heard the v spec did nurburg in 7:18 which is unofficial but that is hella fuckin fast. if they added like 200hp than people would expect it to be faster.

  • Truth is that the GT-R's VR38 engine was reportedly tuned by Cosworth (of English F1 racing fame) and initial dyno runs on the engine made around 520 BHP easy. I'm sure they are holding out for an even more godly model, but the majority of the new V-Spec's price is the gigantic Brembo Ceramic brake kit that costs about $50,000. Shame, last thing the car needed was better handling at the limit : )

I don't think they made it official yet because it probably didn't break the previous record of the GT-R.. I'm not talking out of the blue here, at Tsukuba circuit the normal version of the GT-R outran the Spec V by a second, both driven by Keiichi Tsuchiya and another by Best Motoring if I'm not mistaken.. =/

  • The zr1 s biggest strength s are handleing and ride quality on evry day roads and i find it very hard to belive a gt-r could reach 186mph faster than a zr1 show me some evidence about that becuase the zr1 accelerates to 190 in 32sec wich is almost half the time it tkaes the base gt-r to reach 190 in 1 minuteand i am not to sure about the gt-r spec v out handleing a zr1 the zr1 s handleing abillitys are way up to world standards and nissan will only beat the ring record in their dreams

  • well zr1 fan boy....the zr1 had a roll cage when it did the laptime round the ring....nissan changed the stock gtr's tyres from bridgestone to dunlop....n it is .3 sec slower having almost 200 bhp less....n the 7 min barrier is already broken...so fanboy....check it on the official Nuremberg website....n before u start rattling on bout the viper.....it had a roll cage and cut slicks...ul get all the info u need including the names of the drivers....

  • Stop comparing Nissan GTR and start looking at other vehicle. Ferrari F430 Scuderia come with no carpet and it is stripe down pretty much like the GTR Spec V is. Ferrari F430 Scuderia also comes with a race mode switch button, pretty much like the one Nissan GTR has and also Ferrari F430 Scuderia has about 13 to 20 more horse power bump than the original F430 and it also cost twice the price of the original Ferrari F430.

  • I knew there'd be someone on here mentioning the ZR1. Why? The two aren't even comparable. Worst of all, Evo magazine here in the UK (one of the most reputable car publications) gave the ZR1 a mere 3/5. Now let it go, muscle-car fanboys!

  • that 3/5 still gives the buyer more bhp. faster 1/4 mile and faster top speed doesnt matter. on paper and on the track the zr1 wins everytime. Im not saing the gtr spec isnt a great car. it just lacks hp and why would anyone buy this car instead of the regular nissan gtr with a double price tag and only 5 more hp

  • I think conceptually the Spec-V is failed.

    Think what Porsche, Corvette, Aston Martin and Ferrari would give you if they double the price of their offering... At least more than 5HP and a few cosmetics. That Spec-V badge must be made of a new kind of unearthly metal.

  • The big 3 are not bankrupt yet their in high risk of bankrupsy but i will doubt they will go bnkrupt that easily and cars with v8 s arent all american theirs alot of american cars with v8 s but not all have v8 engines and theirs alot of european cars with v8 s and look how well engieered they are and turbo 4s are used in sporty hatchbacks and the only crap american cars with v8 s are muscle cars american sports cars and many other cars with v8 s are really good.

  • Yeah I saw that before it is a pretty good view of what it can do. Now I have to agree with a few points made that we do not knwo the experience of the ZO6 driver and the Shelby shit I can't see how it goes around corners with out flipping its so dam high off the ground(LOL). If it was a plain C5 unless track modded it will not be in the running. Yet good view on what the potential it has. Good showing!

  • For the money I would not expect anything less than a ZR1 time, I mean realistically, if it just ties then I think just personally that the hype was over done, now if it beats it and gets Viper time then I think it was a good showing. Now remember also is it going to be a drop and go or a test and tune and go?

    Yet remember Nissan said they are not going to release any data from this run at the ring so I am thinking its a drop and go and then after a test and tune run they'll release the #'s.

  • the spec v probably will. i remember hearing something about a 7:20 which actually sounds realistic. clearly the viper was losing time again and again with poor gearing setup which spec v dsg will have no problem with. anyways, they said they would release the time in april, and april is running out :)

  • the gt-r lm version is probably gonna be in another league. nissan really seems to have passion (not as fun as the italian kind but still passion) for the skyline icon which has become known as the ultimate sports car from japan. they are offering everything from this 7:27.56 4 seater at a loss up to what looks like an ascari a10 type competitor. near 600 bhp, race aerodynamics, gearbox, and the latest in supercar tech.

  • That kind of hp will require a tranny upgrade though. I heard it's not that expensive, $1,500 in parts according to Samurai Speed. PPG from Australia makes the upgrade I believe.

  • That is 100% corect the zr1 doesnt have the same brakes as an enzo they use the same brakes from the same company called brembo and most of the gt-r s engineering parts arent japanese

  • Yeah, it's very common to outsource parts in something as complex as a car.

    Take the Ferrari F40... its turbos were Japanese IHI turbos

    However, I think you're wrong that most of the engineering parts aren't Japanese in the GTR. The engine, turbos, and the awd system are all Japanese. The tranny is American though.

  • I believe the engine is Japanese engineered and, correct me if I'm wrong but aren't they hand-made too? ZR-1 is a fine Corvette, but it's a Corvette=flashy and powerful. GT-R is a 4-seater that is 25k cheaper and can almost keep up with that 640hp MONSTER. I wonder, if Nissan had 6.2 liters and a supercharger or turbos to work with, what THEY could turn out...

  • the zr1 gets 604lbft of torque from being supercharged and the zr1 is RWD and doesnt have all the technology the gt-r has And with out the AWD and the launch control the gt-r has. While $70K is a good price for all the performance from their near perfect engineering with technolgical aids the gt-r is abit of a bargin but The gt-r v-spec will cost $170K and that will mean it will no longer be a bargin as its out of the reasonable price range.

  • All the technology the gt-r has will no doubt give it a huge advantage in how it performs the gt-r is so incontrol with the AWD providing so much stabillity but it still isnt really light they seem to have trouble with keeping the wieght down this is nissans bigest weakness when it comes to competeing with porsche.

    porsche makes the best sports cars in the world and they are the specialists at making track nissan is really starting to agrivate porsche with the nissan gt-r v-spec.

Take a look at the Evo X, the GTR and the Evo X seem to look alike, bulky and "gundam" styled front end. That's the trend today. Let them be, it takes time for OTHER people to ACCEPT whats new. :-)

I know the R35 is not supposed to be a new or replacement Skyline but I think they should have had more of the Skyline body features on the new R35.I'm sure a bunch of people are going to talk shit about this comment but It's just my opinion thats all.I'm not hating on the R35 at all actually I wish I could afford one LOL
